- Convicted murderer and rapist turned captured fugitive Thabo Bester has made his first court appearance in Bloemfontein and made a host of demands, including reservations about eating food from the correctional service system.

I’m merely referring to his thought process and how smart is! He went up to Grade 5, another 7 years at school and he would have been a serious professional! He now wants to speak of ID numbers but that’s only technical stuff, he is properly before this court for escaping from lawful custody after a case where he was correctly prosecuted, convicted and got sentenced. He had the opportunity to appeal the matter and but he unfortunately already served 10 years of the minimum 25 before he can get paroled. There’s no going around this matter, because escaping from prison now means that he will have to serve the remainder of the life sentence which I think was 25 to 40 years!

This guy is very intelligent and will take a tough time for the state to make other charges difficult to stand in particular technicalities of how was brought back to South Africa from Tanzania.

My comment was relating to the court appearance incident just wish before committing should have watched the court process, as thabo was very active and the judge even called his lawyer into order since thabo wanted to make statements.
The consequence of having representation is that other points won't be substantiated as you wish.
I have never condoned his alleged activities, but the fact that he has the strength of challenging the court process is the one that surprised me.
I believe justice will be found, and the cost of a private jet will be claimed from his ill-gotten wealth because he got lots of money when still in prison, which is a master stroke for a person without CV ,drivers license and identity card but he did managed to benefits from the economy. A skill you will not learn from business school since we have lots of certificated graduates.
His mentors are very good with home schooling, which is challenging the formal methods of education. Hence, I am saying he is intelligent.

This trial is all about his escape. He's already serving life and that won't change. He just messed with his chances of getting a parole in future. He has no fight left sister. He is already serving a life sentence and he'll continue his sentence. He has just added more years by escaping and also messed his chances of a parole in future. This trial is only about his escape. It will not change his current sentence of life imprisonment. He will only have more years added on top of the 50 years that he got.
In his previous interview. He said he avoided the whole court/ trial thing coz he ddnt want things to drag so I don’t think he will fight the legal way anyways and he is too smart to call out any names.

Apparently it is common practice in the prisons - not all inmates provide ID numbers because they want to protect themselves from past transgressions. When they get admitted, they get given a number, finger prints are taken, and photo's. Thats how they get identified, and that is how TB was identified, from his finger prints. That's how i understand it
