I got the Discord/Redirection roll earlier and I'm proud to say I saw the synergy right away, but I did NOT think about what barrel, mag, and MW I'd want on it. Turns out it's got Fluted, Extended, and Handling too!
To the new Blueberries Redirection offers damage (Dmg) buff of 20% per 5 stacks, reaching a cap at 20 stacks for a 100% total damage buff after 4 shots. Vorpal provides a constant 15% buff to damage per shot for special weapons when targeting bosses. Focused Fury allows a 20% increase in damage per shot from sustained precision hits for 11 seconds, capping at 20%. The Firing Line perk grants a 20% blanket damage per shot but requires the presence of teammates to activate. Recombination increases damage by 10% per stack, capping at 10 stacks, which provides a 100% damage bonus for one shot. It Depends on what you're going to use it for For instance, assuming a base damage (DMG) of 15,000: Going for Burst DMG (Quickly shoot, then switch to heavy/super) With the Redirection buff active across 4 shots, each shot deals 18,000 damage, totaling 72,000 damage. With Recombination active, the first shot benefits from a full 100% damage bonus (Assuming max Stacks: totaling 30,000 damage), followed by three regular shots (15,000 each), culminating in total damage of 75,000 for the same number of shots. For Sustained Damage (Damage over time, More than four shots) (Multiple by mag size for Dmg) Vorpal - 15% Firing line - 20% Focused Fury - 20% (Aim for Large MAG, like Reconstruction, extended mag and backup mag) I hope this helps you decide what you want to keep and what matches your play style. Actually itss 20% per stack so if you have 20 and use 5 per shot its 100% damage increase for those 4 shots you get from the 20 Still effectively useless as you would have to waste 20 shots to get those stacks and then only get 4 shots of increased damage
@ITheNameless Deconstruct demands hitting 3 separate targets, fttc requires 4 shots to get 2 back, you could Hypothetically refund 4 for 4 but they would all need to be headshots bouncing between at least 3 different targets
@O-bearer… no, it does not. Deconstruct refunds ammo directly to the magazine (from air, not reserves) when dealing sustained damage. Indebted kindness with deconstruct is a GM monster.

With "deconstruct" + "fttc" you get 11 shots refunded if you have a 7 mag Uzume going for a total of 18 in a single mag and if you can reload and keep shooting, the perk ("deconstruction") doesn't deactivate going for a total of 56 shots (with a single reserve mod) which is a 2.6x increase in shots and total damage. There's also more ways to increase the amount of ammo generated to this method...
Considering that enhanced recombination gives you a single 200% damage shot after 8 elemental kills, you can choose between these 2 options. Either the classic reconstruction recombination for easy passive damage and ammo stacking, or go for the higher DPS+total damage but at the cost of having to actively use the weapon, potentially hurting your build synergies (if you need to maintain solar buffs for example). There are quite a few cases where that's not the case though, an arc fallen sunstar build comes to mind. So it's up to how much effort you want to put in really.
It’s still only considered a +100% damage bonus though. That’s “double” the damage yes, but that’s not a +200% damage shot. Sort of misleading, which is why I’m calling it out…
The exact roll I have and immediately masterworked. On a side note, you can actually overload your magazine (or just regenerate ammo) with discord if you proc discord with Triple tap (A Distant Pull) or FTTC (Supremacy). Significantly less useful, but discord is definitely slept on (in some situations).
It hasn't been placed on good special weapons yet (not including this sniper). Tried it out on the aggressive fusion rifle but the frame takes too long to charge. Shotgun one is OK on backup plans titan but it's a meme build. This perk combo would be nuts on a rocket sidearm though.
Probably because most people use their special ammo weapons to inflict higher damage on majors and bosses and not so much as for killing outright red bar minors. Also, discord is usually valued in PvP especially with the changes to special ammo. For players who want to keep using special ammo in PvP, discord allows them to regen special ammo if they get a kill with their primary. But this is probably the one instance where discord actually works really well since you’re not “wasting” special ammo on trash ads as long as you got discord to regenerate your ammo.

Reconstruction and Recombination has always been a classic Succession Roll but I was thinking to myself that I might not be crazy shooting red bar minors to build redirection stacks if I can proc discord to generate special ammo. Load up a GM and get the stacks, it's gonna take you an hour. This sniper has it's place in the mid-section of the game but not in the higher end game. You could've also loaded up a strike and showcased it, as it's a perfect example of having "trouble" getting the stacks since everyone kills everything within a second.
Imagine this roll paired with radiant dance machines on invis hunter: you get one kill with another weapon, Dodge to go invisible and then you invis snipe red bars until you reach a bigger Target
I never see anyone in the comments who keeps rolls that make bounty farming in low level content easy. I have a Discord/Incandescent sniper I use every time I have a sniper bounty from Zavala or the Gunsmith so I don't have to worry about ammo and can knock them out quickly. Discord is great.
Hate to be that guy but boss/major spec gives you 7,8% more dmg. This also applies on your double damage redirection shots so, according to your math, this will give you ~24,8 shots instead of the 23 you were referring to with backup mag (of course you need to reload for your 5th redirection shot). And as far as vorpal goes with the same boss/major spec addition it will give you ~22,3 ammo worth of damage and not 20,7. Again not trying to be mean here but backup mag is in my opinion never the play when playing pve. It only works better in very niche instances (like the one you described: for boss dps where you manage to get max stacks and need the 5th shot in the same clip for maximum damage output).
Watched CoolGuy's take on Discord as a perk for Succession and I have to say it slaps. Buffs everything you want and gives you your ammo back if you hit. Was lucky to get a double perk of Discord/Moving Target and Focus Fury/Snapshot Sights Masterworked.
another fun loadout can be double specials, both with discord. I have discord on last man standing shotty & pressurized precision fusion. Now I can use succession and LMS rather than 2 close range weapons. ammo just doesn't go down!
I've been chasing this roll for a couple days after getting my envious/bns edge transit and it dropped last night. it's definitely fun, I think the best use case is probably alongside Cenotaph in a GM. You bring Div or maybe Wavesplitter to stun overloads, rockets for AOE add clear, and this gun to clean up stragglers after a rocket shot. if there aren't overloads, you bring a legendary trace and probably Dragon's Breath instead. it's a bit frustrating how hard it can be to get going in more chaotic activities, though. stuff dies in the time it takes you to aim at it.
S U C C Edit: Might be a good pairing with Cenotaph. I hate running primary + trace rifle in a GM, so running double special feels so much better. I could see a GM with overload champs running this Succession + Divinity (only good if there are overloads) + machine gun. Very ammo efficient but still decently powerful ad control
Imagine 20x redirection also giving 20x worms hunger and firing the parasite and succession. Could be close to the parasite supremacy rotation you showed awhile ago.
Its a pretty fun role that actually works, at first I had absolutely no interest in grinding specifically for succession as I have it crafted but this role just changed my mind, it will end up being vault fodder though

Imagine they buff discord or enchanced discord to return two rounds to the mag instead, and allow it to overflow. There'd have to be a cap on it ofc, but I imagine itd work similar to FTTC or TT with more work put into it beforehand
I have an even more broken shiny Succession with Reconstruction/Discord and Redirection so I can get the mag to 10 and then switch to Discord and it actually tops the mag back up to 10. I also have a Discord Recombination roll that is pretty busted as well and doesn't have as many hoops to jump through but only one double damage shot.
I wonder if bungie plans for interactions like this, that’s incredible. It seems discord is quite the underrated perk. I wonder if they’d ever add it to a power weapon. It would be absolutely insane to see it on a rocket launcher or a heavy GL.

I've seen that yeah, am currently unsure, but I've spoken to some speed friends and they reckon it will just reset your mag size when swapping to cascade, but yeah I'm not sure atm :/
I think bungie should buff the origin trait to work like demo and pugilist where on specials they return more energy to give the weapons a little more utility. I suppose I can't complain, I couldn't be bothered to go get the DSC sniper or shottie craftable after the farming hell for the other weapons so imma have fun farming this one to mess around in mid to endgame and bully some guardians in Gambit. Need to see if that 10× shot can still 1 shot body at 10 resilience after the health changes.
Been using the IB fusion with discord and hatchling with my strand build in onslaught, pretty nice but ofc at the higher waves it’s not as effective but still good enough for an off meta funny build.

This is a unique roll and has some cool synergy but reconstruction with vorpal will just be better but it's a fun option to try
I had a discord-recombination roll drop that I have been thoroughly enjoying! Kill a group of ads, then pop a major. Rinse and repeat.

Without Discord, Redirection is a HORRIBLE sniper perk. 😂

With the double perk version, you should be able to switch off of redirection to a damage perk like vorpal during dps.
But then you'd lose your redirection stacks..
Also vorpal should be in the 4th column while discord is in the 3rd.

I've seen that yeah, am currently unsure, but I've spoken to some speed friends and they reckon it will just reset your mag size when swapping to cascade, but yeah I'm not sure atm :/

I think bungie should buff the origin trait to work like demo and pugilist where on specials they return more energy to give the weapons a little more utility. I suppose I can't complain, I couldn't be bothered to go get the DSC sniper or shottie craftable after the farming hell for the other weapons so imma have fun farming this one to mess around in mid to endgame and bully some guardians in Gambit. Need to see if that 10× shot can still 1 shot body at 10 resilience after the health changes.

Been using the IB fusion with discord and hatchling with my strand build in onslaught, pretty nice but ofc at the higher waves it’s not as effective but still good enough for an off meta funny build.

All of them are useable. Everybody thinks they have to have a 5/5 roll or they won’t be good enough in other players eyes.
@@223ndog If you don't have the 6/5 roll you're just better off using Cataphract.

Ive always liked discord but its not usually on anything worth using, having a sniper with this is nice af, and if we have 2 different slot discord guns you have infinite ad clear gun

I got discord recombination and immediately thought redirection would work so much better with discord
