Dear Lenysea, This is going to be my next project. Waiting for yarn from Hobbii and can't wait. Yust hope I will not struggle too much, since I'm a beginner. Right now I am crocheting "your" tunic top (the one you made with leftovers from green & yellow yarn) 😊😉🤩 Thank you for clear and understandable instructions 🤗
How did I miss this video for so long? The pattern is gorgeous! I have the exact yarn and color and mama’s treating herself to a summer duster! Wonderful! Thank you💜🙏💜🤘🏿💜
I agree with going up on the size of the hook. This yarn is hard to unravel so going up will help that. I’d suggest try a 3.75 as suggested. Make your gauge swatch. If you don’t like the way the lace looks, you can always go up or down hook sizes from there.
I wish AC Moore had online shopping! I have one in my state but it's a 2 hour drive from me. I like their yarn but that's definitely a planned trip to get up there, lol. Thank you for this tutorial Elena! The cardigan is BEAUTIFUL!!
Hello there! I absolutely love this cardigan! Beautiful work and thank you for this thorough tutorial! I was wondering if you could please give me the count for L/XL sizes since I really want to make this beauty for my mom. thank you in advance :)
Hi Lenysea - Really enjoying crocheting your lovely kimono. I have my back done, and am almost finished my sides... How have you done your sleeves, and when sewing the sleeves, is there a good stitch that won't look too chunky?.. I haven't been crocheting too long, but do like a challenge! Thanks again
Wow that's awesome 😘,I am surely going to make it.i already made the blouse with help of ur video and I just can't explain it how much fun it was and so many people have already complemented me for it .I am so thankful for you for sharing it .u are great 😘😘😘😘
Thanks for the tutorial! Is there a reason you did the borders before sewing the back and sides together? Do you think it would work as well if I sewed the back and sides together before crocheting the border (that way I could just crochet it all the way around)?
Please keep it up with these lacey openwork pieces! I just grabbed a bunch of yarn for one of these cardigans. Also- do you have a ravelry page so we can give you credit there more easily if we make items?
Hi lenysea, hope u are doing well. Today I watched this pattern and i really like it and wanted to start. If i feel any problem during the crochet plz help me.
Your tutorials are always amazing and easy to follow. Thank you for sharing your skills. I have a ridiculous amount of worsted weight, size 4 yarn I am trying to use up in many different colors. I would like to make things like this cardigan but unsure of how many chains to use for several different sizes. Any suggestions?
Don't let the weight of the yarn scare you. Use any yarn. Obviously, the thinner the yarn, the more chains you will need, the thicker - the less. Chain the multiples as many times as many you need to fit you for the back panel. Once you've figured that number out, divide it by 2 and you will get the number of chains for the front panels.
Please add the calculation logic needed for arriving at the no. of loops too. Because by just measuring myself, when I took a no. for the loops, my design did not fit in the row.
Concerning lot numbers. I’m not sure what company manufacturers Premier yarn but some companies will locate the correct dye lot for you if you contact them. It’s worked for me in the past. Most companies like to help.
Be aware. It’s important to do gauge on this one, not only because you want the correct size, the yarn can also be difficult to frog. That’s my experience with it.
Im sorry, im confused about the multiples i need for the beginning chain (ex:chain 120+6)? I can't do your trick of chaining extra because I can't see well enough to undo the slip knot. I am also using thicker yarn because of this, so I won't chain the same amount as you. Thank you for your help. The design is beautiful🎀!
Melisa Crider Melisa Crider chain twenty plus six. Do a full set or two of pattern stitches with the yarn you’ll be using. Do enough to be able too adequately measure your swatch. Remember to adjust your hook size for the yarn. Once you’ve finished your gauge swatch, measure 20 stitches. This is the number of stitches in the pattern that will be repeated. This will help you determine the foundation row. Don’t worry about the extra six stitches in this pattern. I’ll explain at the end. An example, you measure around your largest area and you come up with 40 inches. You’d divide 40 inches by 2 and get 20 inches. Your back would be 20 inches and each of your front pieces would be 10 inches each or 20 divided by 2. That’s half of what the back is and all together the three measures 40 inches. Say your yarn swatch is 10 inches. Remember to measure the 20 stitches not the extra six. Divide your 40 by 10. (That’s 4 repeats of the stitch pattern for the back piece. And 2 repeats for each side pieces on the front. ) Then multiple 4 repeats by 20 stitches. Your starting chain would be 80 plus the 6 chains. At the end you’ll have the inches from the extra 6 stitches unaccounted for in the measurement but I find it usually doesn’t make a difference. Here in my example it would only add approximately 3 inches to the overall measurements. It’s usually taken up by the underarm area anyway. It’s hard for me too explain the math taking into account the extra stitches at the end. As long as it doesn’t add over four inches it shouldn’t matter. Hopefully this will help you and it will work out for you. Be sure to measure after you do a few rows of the pattern. Better to take the stitches out at that point and start over with the math if the foundation chain isn’t the correct gauge. I hope my math is correct! I’m usually very good with it. However, I’ve crocheted for 50 years. That should give you an idea of my age. My mind doesn’t work as well as it used too.
Toby Redhead I just want to send you a note to say thank you for all of the information that you are giving on this video. I find it to be extremely helpful. I am a size 1X sometimes 2X woman. I have lost some weight. I need to make some light weight vests I can wear over lightweight t-shirts for work. It will dress them up. I love the look of a long vest. I have been crocheting for 10 years but just now getting into garment construction. Thank you again I greatly appreciate :-)
A quick question, how many inches or cm is the sleeves? The opening? I am a bit confused. I have done all 3 panels but not yet sew the panels together.
myrna miraj Sew the shoulders first, put it on and lift your arms to be parallel to the floor. Pinch the underarm where it feels comfortable and you got your sleeve opening. Sew from bottom to that stitch marker.
Hi Lensea I am confused, if you chained 126 for back why 75 for front that would be 150 for fronts, would it not be 63, sorry if I missed some thing. I have started this an it is lovely to work. many thanks for sharing. blessings from North West England U.K.
Adding to what Lenysea said. You’ll have to adjust your hook size to the yarn you are using. I’m a larger woman so I actually figure out the stitch count if it’s not given. Then I crochet/knit my first row, keeping the correct stitch count in mind, so I can measure around my largest body part. It has worked out well for me. Sometimes I crochet/knit a complete set of rows for the pattern. This set pattern stitches isn’t very long. Then you can double check your gauge from it to see if it measures to your size. I hope I made sense. Of course you may know all this already but it will help someone farther along.
This may be late but using a #4 weight yarn could effect the drape of the final garment. To help with that you could use a bigger gauge hook but that could, again, effect how big the garment will be. Try to use #3 weighted yarn, that could get you closer to the actual drape and size of the garment. Also be sure to do some samples to help you.
Your projects are beautiful! I love them all but, ma'am, you jump from one step to the next so fast that I lose where I am in the pattern. Your a great teacher, just please, slow down a little
The tutorial starts at 6:38, but all important information is before it. Enjoy!
It's Toooooo beautiful 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊

Yeah! I purchased this yarn a few months ago and didn’t like it for the shawl I was crocheting. I think I’ll use it for this sweater.
This is beautiful, looks very intimidating but I'm up for the challenge. Thank you for this!
Cyndi Garcia Thanks! Give it a try and you’ll that it’s not as difficult. Good luck! ☺️

Can this be made using the cotton colors by Stitch Studios? It is a 2 weight cotton yarn. Thank you
can you please make a pullover version of this pattern
Please add the calculation logic needed for arriving at the no. of loops too. Because by just measuring myself, when I took a no. for the loops, my design did not fit in the row.
I supplied the number of multiples, that should suffice.
What do you change for a plus size 1-2 XL
So beautiful, Thank you! ❤️
Lenysea, beautiful 🌷
Can you give the exact measurements for other sizes??
It's wonderful.....thank you 😙
@lenysea I wanted to buy the pattern but I couldn’t find it in your Etsy shop :(

Multiples of 20, than at the end, +6.

I wanted the fronts to have full fans, so the stitch count ended up having this amount. If you chain more or less, the pattern won't look symmetrical.
Thank you for quick reply. an many thanks for explaining. :)
Translation please;) In french or subtitles. Thanks 😊

Evelyn Montesinos I’ve lived in the States for 6 years now, it better be! 😂
Do I have to use fine #2 yarn or can I use a worsted weight #4 for this?
Theresemarie Gastineau I was going to ask if it would work in Aran yarn
Theresemarie Gastineau You can try any yarn, just make a small sample and see how it looks...
