    Changing "any order" to "random order" for digital to save money on hiring people to put a "just randomize that 'any order' for me, I don't care" button.

      I dunno, "bottom deck matters" may be a future archetype beyond Grenzo, and they may be playing it safe.

    • @ridiculous_fox
      @ridiculous_fox 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is that far too many people think they should care about the the bottom of their deck, for the fringe 0.1% of the cases, where it MIGHT come up. That analysis paralysis is the problem with "any order", not really the possibility to offer a randomize option in the UI.

      @@ridiculous_fox So then why isn't scrying 5 to the bottom randomized?

    • @lilomar2525
      @lilomar2525 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ridiculous_fox the new problem is that now the extra four cards need to be randomized. So, at Competitive REL, you have to shuffle those four cards, present them to your opponent, and they have to shuffle them and hand them back. As opposed to the old version, where you can just throw them on the bottom in whatever order they happen to be in.

    • @ridiculous_fox

      @@Greg501- Because you are analysing when you scry anyway. And Scry 5 is a rather rare number, usually it's 1 or 2.
       @Jacob Smith Yep, I thought about adding that as well. I completely agree, depending on the players that is more of a hassle. I'm glad I pretty much only play casually, where that is far less of an issue.

    Do the stars in the thumbnails of the DDR videos indicate the difficulty in determining the correct resolution. i.e. 5 stars means its difficult to understand/solve and 1 star means its relatively easy

    Hey, I've lately discovered your Channel and had the chance to play at some competitive Commander (Centurion variante) tournaments, I find your videos to be interesting and defntly helping me gaining a Better grasp of how the game work and why.
    So since new capenna it's the latest hot topic, I wanted to ask if you could cover Oaskar, the rubblish reclaimer, which Is a sweet Commander I would like to brew around, but I'm still not sure how some interactions work, for example: dream halls and alternative costs, particularly flashback.

    Let's say I have a Sylvan Library in play and 4 cards in hand, which my opponent knows because he Thoughtseized me last turn. On my upkeep, I cast Brainstorm and then crack a fetchland to shuffle the two cards away. I shuffled my hand before putting 2 cards back because I don't want my opponent to know whether I still that the Force of Will. Then in my draw step Sylvan Library triggers. What should I do? Should I call a judge to watch me Brainstorm?

      Sylvan Library doesnt exist.

    • @Tharkon
      @Tharkon 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you begin you turn with Sylvan Library in play, any cards drawn until the point that Sylvan Library finishes resolving will have to be kept in a separate hand. They're still considered part of the same hand mechanically, but they just have to be kept track of. Luckily, unlike in the game mechanics, real life humans do have two hands.
      Yes, this does mean that your opponent will know if you shuffled away any of the 4 cards or any of the new cards, if you shuffled away any of your original cards, your opponent does not know which one.

    Judge! I have a token copy of Ob Nixilis, the Adversary and an Eska's Chariot as an artifact creature. If I copy the token copy of The Adversary, does the new one enter with 0 loyalty counters or X loyalty counters?

    • @dwpetrak
      @dwpetrak 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ain't no judge but: The Casualty ability lets you make a choice to sacrifice a creature when you cast the spell. Since you are not copying a spell but copying a token the X from casualty will be 0 and get no Loyalty counters from it. With zero Loyalty counters the new token copy goes bye-bye when it ETBs.

    • @pedrohenriquesacramentodeo3458
      @pedrohenriquesacramentodeo3458 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rule 707.2 stablishes that starting loyalty is a copyable value. Rule 707.9b stablishes that "Some copy effects modify a characteristic as part of the copying process. The final set of values for that characteristic becomes part of the copiable values of the copy." In other words, the modified starting loyalty of the copy of Ob Nixilis is a copyable value so the new copy created by Esika's Chariot will enter with X loyalty counters where X is the power of the creature first sacrificed to pay the casualty cost when casting Ob Nixilis.

    • @dwpetrak
      @dwpetrak 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pedrohenriquesacramentodeo3458 So you are saying that 707.2 will change the "X" in the token copy targeted by the Chariot's ability to the same value that the token has?
      I was under the impression that the copy-copy would have it's own Casualty X define it's starting loyalty as that is the relevant characteristic-defining ability. I'm trying to say that the newest copy gets zero because it's Casualty ability (gained in layer 1 as it is copied) makes it so (because it was not cast, so it's X can only be 0) in layer 7. or did that confuse my message even more?
      (I also didn't think 707.9.b would apply because there was no text that says to change or otherwise set the starting loyalty.)

    • @pedrohenriquesacramentodeo3458
      @pedrohenriquesacramentodeo3458 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dwpetrak Casualty is just an alternate cost, similar to kicker. When casting the spell, casualty will set the starting loyalty of the copy. Casualty X by itself is not a characteristic defining ability. "604.3a A static ability is a characteristic-defining ability if it meets the following criteria: (1) It defines an object’s colors, subtypes, power, or toughness; ..." Note that starting loyalty is not among the characteristics affected by characteristic-defining abilities. This is similar to creating a token with base P/T X/X from something like Phyrexian Rebirth. Copying such will copy the value of X even no creatures have to be destroyed. The value of X is chosen while casting/resolving the spell and becomes a copyable value of the token.

    Judge! Is Amy required to play all cards exiled with this spell, or may she choose any number of those cards and leave the rest exiled? If Amy must play all of them, and one of the spells is not able to be cast legally (such as requiring a target where no valid one exists), what happens?

    Judge! How do we go about requesting video's on certain cards that have many unique rule interactions. Mainly I'm talking about Garth One-Eye and how his tap/cast ability works with timing. Does it work at instant speed? Can I tap/cast Regrowth on my opponents turn? Are the spells created effected by my opponents Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir on his turn? Does doubling season work with the copies, even though they are not created?

    • @xeanthomas5231
      @xeanthomas5231 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Abilities that do not specify a timing and say "you may cast" are referring to casting the card/spell AS the ability is resolving. This ignores timing restrictions. Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir specifically says you may only cast spells as a sorcery, meaning only on your first or second main phase, when the stack is empty. The stack is not empty when abilities are resolving, so this affects Garth very negatively.

    • @Karonar
      @Karonar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's often helpful to check the gatherer rulings of cards. For Example @ Garth we got this ruling:
      You must pay the costs for the chosen card, but you cast the copy as the ability resolves, which may not be a time that you could normally cast that card.
      Hope that also helps :)
