Couple of suggestions: make pancakes & freeze them; you can freeze milk & butter; throw fruit into your ice cream .My dad told me his mother would combine leftover bits of cereal into 1 container & serve it for breakfast or turn the combo into cookie batter. Same with crackers & the occasional chip leftovers. Throw them all together & use as a coating on baked chicken or pork.
Thanks Mindy for showing a thumbnail of a somewhat empty refrigerator, senior citizens and low income families and individuals face this reality everyday.
Oh, thank you! I really appreciate that. It's an honor when people take the time to watch, so I'm always trying to give some ideas that might be useful or helpful. :)
I’m sorry your traffic has been slowing down, when you obviously work very hard on the videos you make. I’ve learned so much from you, and I’m super grateful!
I tried this recently- I delayed a grocery trip by eating what we had, digging through the freezer and pantry. It was nice to get stuff cleared out, but it kind of felt like the next grocery bill was larger than usual.
Welcome back. So my deep freezer was organized and then my significant other and my kids got involved. So this weekend I pulled everything out, organized it, and realized I do not have to go meat shopping for an entire month. Yeah for Organization.
First timer here. I don’t know how I got here, but so far, I like your channel. I’m glad not all creators caved to the pressure to make “shorts” - I really loathe those. 😅
My fridge is bonkers-full of such rando things, but tonight I'm going to use only leftovers to make a stir fried rice with scrambled eggs, meatballs, and broccoli
You can make Mexican queso fresco with just milk, lemon juice or even apple cider vinegar and a smidge of salt. It’s a fresh cheese and won’t keep like a hard cheese but it’s one way to extend the life of milk. I toss queso fresco into burritos or tacos and top salads or even fried eggs with it. YT has a bunch of videos to walk you through the process of making queso fresco.
Forget the shorts… full videos are better. Your videos are helpful from start to finish. If they were short we would not get as much good info. I Love what you do the way you do it!❤
yep southerner here. We run dryer at night, and big stuff we hang out. the oven is rarely used. I have fans in every room, trying to make sure we use the ac efficiently. I even put a fan in front of a few vents to direct it out and away more. crazy here
I watch every video you put out, and much prefer the “long” ones. Your channel is one of my favorites for great ideas and recipes. Thanks for all the work that goes into these sensible, enjoyable videos.
You can freeze milk to keep it longer. It’s a great trick to always have some milk on hand. You can freeze it in smaller containers to only take out 1 or 2 cups at a time.
I don't care for shorts. I feel they draw you in and then boom drop you off a cliff! I enjoy the longer conversations as they are always full of nice wisdom and practicalities that make life wonderful!😀
Was just on a family trip to a cottage, and we had planned to go out for dinner.. but the fridge was still full of all the food we brought! I suggested we USE IT UP! Took some convincing to the crowd , but it worked! It was the “no plate has to look the same, everyone just has to be fed” moto that sold us. Someone had Indian food, someone had a burger, a deli sandwich. Such a funny hodge podge dinner. 😂
I’ve been working on using up what I have in my kitchen for almost the last month now. Haven’t had to run to the store, but maybe once or twice, for milk or eggs. Saving money and time has been awesome!
I’m on the Gulf coast. Right now it’s hurricane season so we’ve just about emptied the freezer and we only buy for 1-2 weeks at a time when it comes to perishables
We specifically got our air fryer several years back to not have to fire up the oven in the summer. It’s a no-no in our house any time the temp is 80+. Fellow southerner here. 😂
I've seen people do sheet pan pancakes..baked in the oven then cut into squares instead of on a griddle when they have several kids waiting for breakfast
I turn my oven on to a low heat. As I cook the pancakes they stay warm, in the oven, until they're all prepared. Same with waffles. I worked in a school kitchen and we always used a warming oven.
We had a 12 x 12 electric frypan. My husband would cook 9 pancakes at once - 3 per serving. But the time the next batch was browned others were ready to eat. Repeated as long as there was batter. 6 people 1 bathroom all leaving at the same time! Worked well.
my brother has four boys - when they were still all home he made muffins with pancake batter - that way he could have the first 12 muffins ready for them with another 12 in the oven - amazing how quickly the complaints disappeared (as well as the muffins) 🇨🇦🙏
I love your videos! Yes, I do watch shorts, but I watch full videos a lot more often. You're definitely "my" kind of cook--"let's see, I have X, Y, and Z, what can I put together with them?" LOL! I do that all the time! Please keep the great content coming. God Bless!
Thank you for your ideas Mrs. Mindy. This is always so helpful. We have to use food pantries, so this always gives me ideas on how to use ingredients in my pantry, as i try to create a mini stockpile for the upcoming winter months .... Thanks for all that you do!
THANK YOU for the shout out to us Southern peeps :) I have a early 70's house with an open floor plan and my almost 50 yr old oven puts out so much heat you can feel it circulsting in the living area about 10 feet away lol. IF I have to turn on the oven for anything, I make sure it's not something that goes above 350 and wont be used for more than about 20-30 minutes and I usually have to turn off all the lights in the process to keep it as cool as possible.
Ohmigosh Mindy!!! I have not turned on my oven since the first week of May. Seriously! Phoenix temps were 118* for 10 days in a row, holding at a steady 113-114* most recently. I totally get you! I have nearly every kitchen gadget there is. I’d rather use the gadgets when it’s hot outside. I love to see how your mind works and how you come up with new recipes. The cauliflower hack is eye opening 😊
I used to watch you a lot more a few years ago. I was pleased to see this one. I also turned on the bell, so I’m hoping I keep seeing your content. As a Mom of 4 I really appreciate your channel. When I started watching you I lived in OKC! I’m back in Texas now. Thank you!!
I I appreciate your “use it up “ videos. We have had to tighten things a bit because I am out of work on disability and that is only a percentage of my salary. So I am trying to do the same things you are suggesting. Thanks for sharing!
I don't watch shorts (I find them disappointing and lacking), but I love a good 15 - 20 minute video. Thanks for all the work you put into making these longer videos! 💗
Much prefer videos than shorts, especially when about cooking. I Love your content. Very realistic and I always find something I can relate to and use for my family!
You make great content. I can't imagine why anyone would want to watch a short, rather than a longer video filled with great information, as yours always are.
After downsizing we just don’t use the large oven anymore, except for storing a few pots and a couple cast iron skillets 😊. We use our toaster oven all the time, and love it!
New subscriber-based on topic. I always get such a rush of accomplishment when I pull together extra meals from random stuff in gridge, freezer and pantry. So I subscribed because we already have something in common. My grown daughters are now doing this in their own homes as well! Without me teaching them to do it! Thanks for showing your process!
I don't always comment, but I always like the videos of the creators I like! I love your ideas and follow a lot of them. You grease the creative side of my mind!
Thanks for all the ideas about using things up. We have been trying to do this at our house. I just hate wasting food and it’s getting so expensive. It’s also good to be a good steward of our resources. Thanks again! 😊
THANK YOU for doing full length videos. I don’t care for shorts. ❤. I have noticed fewer notifications but I check for your videos every few days anyway.
You are my favorite TH-camr and anytime I don’t feel the motivation to cook, I’ll throw on one of your videos. Definitely love the videos compared to the shorts! ❤
The last few weeks we’ve done pretty well using up our food to the point that the fridge looks bare and the freezer is half empty (that’s huge for us lol) I always freeze leftovers and sometimes we forget about them, but we’re using them up now! Videos like this are a great reminder! And I’m South of you in Yukon and we definitely use the oven as little as possible right now!
Great ideas. I live in the Deep South and completely agree on the oven thing. Really wish I had a gas stove, but one thing I do is cut off my stove top before I have finished cooking and the residual heat finishes cooking my dish.

So funny/weird, but my husband & I just talked about going through the freezer/fridge just yesterday to try and use up as much as we can before going to the grocery store. 😊
Try Lactaid! My kids need it because they’re lactose intolerant and it lasts 8 weeks or so in the fridge. We only use milk for cereal and cooking so it lasts a long time!
I love your pantry cooking videos! I haven’t done a grocery shop in 3!!! weeks besides milk and bread. It is amazing what the possibilities are when you get a little creative!
I do much the same but in the opposite direction: fridge, fridge freezer, kitchen pantry, then remote bulk pantry and remote freezer. Real estate is often premium in each location and i also use the refridgerator freezer as a short term life extender of refridgerator items. Consequently, not only do I reserve some refridgerator space for left over, prepped food (ie shredded cheese, diced or chopped produce), and open containers but I am assessing the potential for downsizing the containers that hold them. When intransitioned to glass and other from plastic food storage, I ended up in mostly clear glass and this helps too; it wasn't the intent but it happened. My primary grumble about open bags and boxes of stuff in the freezer is that should they spill ill have to take time out to clean; same with the pantry shelves. They tend to get used with purpose and/ or put in a food storage container. When the refridgerator freezer looks like it has space, I move some stuff from the remote freezer; the same with the kitchen pantry shelves. Sometimes ill empty the bulky boxes things come in inntjenrefridgerator freezer then stuff them in repurposed bread amd other bags; I try to keep the original packaging in the remote freezer as much as possible. Between the potential for spills and alsompests, I often containerize open packages on the pantry shelves. If there are many though, I too will do an open package clean out.
We don't like to run our ovens here in the southwest either! Only run my dryer in the early morning or late evening. I don't usually watch shorts. I do know that sometimes TH-cam unsubscribes people. So remind people to check that as well. It has actually happened to me on two different channels.
Thank you so much for all these pantry and fridge clean Out videos. They help me to get my stuff used up. It's really inspiring. Greetings from Germany
We’ll done on using items up. I always feel like it’s a win when I can do that. Sometimes they can get a little wacky. So grateful that my husband is fine with that. Some times I’ll just warm all left overs up and have a little schmorgasboard (sp?) night.
I anxiously await any and all content from you. I don’t get on Facebook, or Instagram often, and I refuse to use tictoc, so the fact that you post on TH-cam makes me happy. I definitely prefer the longer videos, but will watch anything you create. The use it up pantry videos are some of my favorites. I also really enjoyed the one you made recently about things you are loving.
Mindy, you are a fave along with some others I call ‘My TH-cam Moms’. Y’all have given me confidence that I can come up with recipes or I have made many many of yours and others. I find y’all more relatable than chefs and look forward to your videos.
Lovely to have you back! I use powdered milk mostly. I use minimal amounts of milk, then suddenly use a lot! So powdered milk gives me options. And in cooking I can’t tell the difference anyway! Great ideas and thank you for the video! (I always prefer videos over shorts!)
Shorts are okay for some topics, but not for cooking! I prefer long form videos overall, but especially for cooking. You’ve been one of my go-to channels for years, so I’m here for the long haul.
Electricity is extremely expensive in the summer in Las Vegas. I definitely utilize grills, air fryers, crockpots, etc to avoid heating up the house with an oven. Makes a difference in the electric bill!
Hello MindyMom, i love your thought process when perusing your own fridge, freezer&pantry. In the summer i use a countertop multifunction oven. I can bake, broil, griddle, air fry in one appliance.keeps the heat output to a minimum. Also i do my baking at 9:00 pm. That puts us off of the most expensive time of day for electricity usage. I have a propane stove to cook on like stir frys, skillet scrambles, boiling water for pasta. Crock pot and instant pot are great kitchen friends to help with meal prep! Yum! Love your video today.❤
Your full videos are great- chock full of great ideas and creative use of items in your pantry! Shorts are a teaser, but folks like me need all the details and steps😉 Thanks for all your content!
I am in KY and I am so with you on resisting turning the oven on in the summer heat! I found two cartons of chicken broth in my pantry that, eek, were past expiration date. (Note: they were still fine. Chicken broth doesn't turn bad on that date!) We are in the heat of summer but, I made two soups: one with cheese tortellini, frozen chopped spinach, canned tomatoes and some jarred pesto, and the other in the crock pot with chopped potatoes, onions, and cheese for a creamed soup. I was not wasting the broth so, soup it was!
I also don’t like turning the oven or the dryer on when it’s 105 in California. It makes it so suffocating inside. I cook in my crockpot, pressure cooker and air fryer , it’s so much better. I love your videos. I do get caught up in the shorts, but I still like watching full length videos especially “pantry cooking “videos.😊❤
I only just got this notification, seeing you were taking some time off i didn't think anything aboit you not posting in a while. When i clickrd i realized i had missed 5 videos! I was surprised because i hadn't gotten any notifications. So bizarre 😮
I am on board with you! I delay grocery shopping by as many days as I can. I use open pantry/freezer items. And I do not turn on the oven in the summer if I can avoid it!!! Slow cooker, air fryer, microwave, instant pot (not that I've used that one in a long time),....are my friends during hot months. I don't watch shorts. I'm a longer-form video girlie. =)
I try to do this when I can. When groceries are low but I don’t want to go to the store right away. I go through the fridge first then my freezer. But you e given me a couple more ideas. Thank you so much for that 😊😊
Chopped pickled jalapeños and a squirt of lime juice added to plain Greek yogurt is really good on Mexican food as a sub for sour cream. Love your channel!
I would much rather have a video than a short.
Me too. I’m not a fan of the shorts

I love your pantry cooking videos! I haven’t done a grocery shop in 3!!! weeks besides milk and bread. It is amazing what the possibilities are when you get a little creative!
I watch every video of yours I can
Thank you!
Hi, Mindy, and welcome "home." I hope you had a relaxing and rejuvenating respite!
I live in Maryland and try to use the oven as little as possible in the summer and as much as I can in the winter!!
I love videos. I watch them while I clean or cook. No need for shorts.
I appreciate your videos Mindy! Very helpful ideas for using up what’s in our fridge, freezer and pantry. Thanks again!
We try to do this before we do our monthly grocery hauls. Your videos are so helpful.
Thank you! I'm glad to be back. :)
@@SeeMindyMom you're so very welcome. Me too.
Mindy, you are a fave along with some others I call ‘My TH-cam Moms’. Y’all have given me confidence that I can come up with recipes or I have made many many of yours and others. I find y’all more relatable than chefs and look forward to your videos.
Ah, thank you so much! I’m really glad I can share something helpful or give encouragement. :)
Thanks for the creative ways to use up things in your pantry. This helps me to be creative.
The oven, man did I feel that 🫠😂 South Florida here, please send more AC 😂
Shorts are ok but I always want more Mindy! ❤ Thanks for another great video 🙂
Nice to see you again! We have problems using up milk also and had no pudding mix last time I wanted to make some.😧
From Sharon, make it from scratch, so good, and can use microwave.
Lovely to have you back! I use powdered milk mostly. I use minimal amounts of milk, then suddenly use a lot! So powdered milk gives me options. And in cooking I can’t tell the difference anyway! Great ideas and thank you for the video! (I always prefer videos over shorts!)
Oh that's a good point about the powdered milk!
Shorts are okay for some topics, but not for cooking! I prefer long form videos overall, but especially for cooking. You’ve been one of my go-to channels for years, so I’m here for the long haul.
I watch all your videos but now I have a reason to make sure I watch to the end!!
Love your videos. From England.
I love it when you make these types of videos.
I watch literally every video you post. I love your channel. ❤
All the meals you made look so delicious!! Especially that pasta 😍
SC here and I trashed a new slow cooker this summer using it every day. 😂
Good ideas! I’ve tried to be more mindful of using what we have before grocery shopping bc of your videos!
I love using stuff up!
Oh those sound delicious!
I love all your videos. Take heart and don't be discouraged.😊
Glad you saw this one! :)
Love your videos and all your useful advice. I prefer a longer video over a short with no info in it.
Thank you so much for that 😊😊
So glad I could help! :)
You have so many good ideas Mindy! Thanks for a great viewing channel😊
I look forward to new videos and new ideas, as we have covered this subject before. Really enjoy watching your channel. Thanks for sharing.
Chopped pickled jalapeños and a squirt of lime juice added to plain Greek yogurt is really good on Mexican food as a sub for sour cream. Love your channel!
Oh, great idea!
