- Valleyfair's hyper-coaster, features one of the world's largest weightless zones and a 200-foot, 60-degree drop! The tallest and fastest roller coaster at Valleyfair, standing 207 feet at its highest point with a first drop of 200 feet at a 60-degree angle and reaching speeds up to 74 miles per hour. Wild Thing features four drops of more than 100 feet along its 5,460-foot-long course (207', 103', 130', 103'). Out and back steel coaster with two "S" curves, one tunnel and a 360-degree spiral. Longest low-gravity section of any coaster in the world.

I'm gonna ride it tomorrow for the first time, and when I read this, I shrunk back in my seat.
Don't talk To me honestly it’s not that bad, it just feels high on the way up, it’s super fast on the way down so you barely even notice it and it’s super fun, one of my fave rides!

Same here. I was 10 years old and tiny. When we reached the peak before the drop, my mom made me hold her purse instead of the bars.
Growing up in Minnesota I would always look forward to going to VallyFair couple times every summer since the early 80's!!!! Miss that place!!!

@@chouseification well yes there’s that. But I also just know just cause I live in Shakopee. And have lived in the twin cities and it’s suburbs my entire life. Have rode wild thing many many times and know at the top of the hill you’re facing the east where the sun rises. If you’re at VF and want to catch a dope sunset I would suggest riding renegade at the time it sets. 💯
@DiddyKong41 You're talking to somebody who very vividly remembers Valleyfair before Corkscrew was installed. The park actually was a lot more fun way back in the day, but it's still pretty fun.

Corkscrew is really tame and slow. It is one of my favorites at Valleyfair even though it’s tame and a bit rough

I went on this 4 times today and it’s now my new favorite ride.
Better than it's predecessor Magnum XL-200. I remember as a kid when Excalibur's hill looked huge. Then they doubled its size with Wild Thing. I can't remember my first ride but I must have been very nervous. Now I'm doing 300ft Millennium Force coasters!
Most nerve-wracking part by far is the lift up LOL
Everything else is incredible. I'm a roller coaster and adrenaline junkie and the first hills still get me every time.
200ft hills are becoming the norm now though. You should be used to it. Magnum XL, Valravn, Raging Bull... but yeah the anticipation does build up anxiety. Which is why we love em!
@@joeskis That's what makes it such a great ride! I've ridden this more times than I can count, know exactly what's going to happen and can even time sequences of the ride but it STILL gets my adrenaline going and puts my heart up in my throat for a few seconds.
I strongly recommend that they lighten off on the breaks halfway through the ride because after that it turns from Wild Thing to Mild Thing (and you shouldn't want that at all).
At least it doesn’t trim at the top of the lift hill like a certain other roller coaster at ValleyFair. But I still have to agree with you. I wonder why they went so heavy on the brakes? Probably same reason lots of coasters do: to lighten the maintenance workload on the trains and possibly the track itself since higher forces = more wear. I’ve heard there are secret ways to ride the coaster at times when the trim brakes are deactivated, although I do not know those secret ways.
I still love WF to this day. Was there next in line the day of its mishap fifteen or so years back but she’s looking better than ever. Thanks for posting ❤
To everyone who is scarred of this ride so 2 years ago I wouldn’t go on anything I thought I would fall out get sick and then I went on the wild thing and ended up going on every ride a valley fair it is not that bad trust me

This one is actually really bumpy if you’re up front. If you’re in the middle/back it’s a lot smoother.
I went on this ride an couple weeks ago, it was honestly one of the best moments of my life.
I sat in like the very back and it was about the best rollercoaster I’ve ever been on.
When Wild Thing first opened at Valleyfair I was so afraid of it cause it's so HUGE! Now, I LOVE this ride and try to ride it as many times as I can!! (along with all the other coasters) Can't wait to go to Valleyfair this summer!! 💕🎢🎡🎠
Been on this with friends before.....I was mortified, but I liked the after-feeling for some reason. Saw my picture on the screens after the ride and I looked dead lmao

Growing up, I remember going to Valleyfair on the first and last weekend of Summer Break. That was in the 1990s. This is bringing back good memories.

The first rollercoaster I ever rode when I was 8🥰 I moved away from MN in 2008 and haven’t been there since but definitely want to visit again someday!

I went to Valley Fair a month ago and this was my first big ride at Valley Fair, and when we went down the first hill I couldn't breath because of how fast the ride was going through the air.
Rode this in 8th grade when my muge braver friend talked me into it; by the time we got to the platform, my legs were shaking so badly I could barely stand up!

the drop looks so tiny on screen, i can assure you you’re about 250+ feet in the air and you start levitating off your seat when you drop, its awesome!

Every years there’s this group that takes to to valley fair, this year was my first time going and it was really fun, and I enjoyed the rides! Unfortunately I didn’t get to ride this one but definitely going again next year to ride this!

I can’t believe I went on this for my cousins birthday
Never been on this thing and I’m almost 24. Always been scared of it. On my last trip to Valleyfair last year, I finally decided I should try it. However, when I finally decided I was ready, it was revealed it was closed early for technical difficulties. Whenever I eventually get back, I wanna try it to finally get it over with, but seeing that long upward climb makes my stomach drop.
get in line and don't think about it. When going up just look out at the horizon to the side. You don't notice the height gain as much that way. Don't look up to see how much further it is. Eventually you'll know and then there's nothing left to worry about cause ain't nothing you can do about it.

When I did this I regretted life when we starting going up then when we went down I legit thought I was coming out the of the strap and legit was screaming so loud

BRO THE DROP WAS INSANE like sitting in your seat YOUR FLOATING WHILE IT DROPS AND IT FEELS LIKE FALLING OUT OF A BUILDING WHILE SOMEONE PUT WEIGHTS ON YOUR BACK 😭😭 i was shaking after riding it 2 times its insane especially that tunnel it’s so unexpected and it gets dark as soon as you enter and they took photos It’s so crazy. Even tho the line is fricken long THE WAIT IS DEFINITELY WORTH IT IM TELLING YIU

I've never gone on the wild thing. My friends and ex tried pulling me into the line and I sat on the ground. I was VERY difficult to peer pressure haha. The Excalibur and even the Renegade were almost too much for me, since I'm not a roller coaster kinda person. No way in HELL I was doing the wild thing lol
I was super scared to ride it…then I did and for the first 3 times I loved it. Then came the 4th time and we sat in the back and I got ejector air time for the first time ever. And now I’m iffy on getting on it. Will still ride some other coasters though
Wild Thing. The name is a great homage to the popular 60s song by The Troggs. I used to ride this again and again when visiting this park, even since the age of 8, and was my very first ride on a hypercoaster, and that I also rode on its sister roller coaster - The Mamba at Worlds of Fun, only the latter has a darker theme. And just as the name of the roller coaster says, it IS wild!
Make no mistake, with a ride as intense as this, this makes it the #1 ride in the park for anyone to lose their phones and other items if they can't abide to the loose articles policy. What's hard about people on tech overload putting their items in those storage bins on the other side of the station before boarding the ride? Plus parks these days are putting up signs with damaged loose item examples on display as the result for if anyone bothers to take them on the ride and forgets that loose article containers at the station exist and that there are signs ruling against taking them on the rides.
My family lived in ND when I was a kid. We went to VF when I was 9, and I chickened out of riding this. I regretted it for a whole year, but thank God we ended going again. I looked my fear in the eyes, and said “AHHHHH!!”
i went to valley fair and there was little kids on it! it’s so fun and if your nervous its ok to be. Just believe in yourself. Just remember if you go on the ride have fun:) Just scream,put your hands up, and have fun!😁
First time I ever rode this was at night for ValleyScare and I remember the drop almost killing me, also at the end when we hit the brakes the couple in the car behind us was laughing like crazy because my friends hat flew off on the first drop and smacked them in the face. They caught it for my friend.

When I went on this ride last year it was raining so hard and it felt like we were getting pelted by rocks and chunks of ice but it added to the wild part of the wild thing so I’m happy

I went to valley Fair the same year twice and it was within a month. Super great place the only thing bad is the overpriced food
On the second bump you also levitate in the air for 3 secs which is also awesome
