Inclusions are older than the rock they are found in. The clasts found within a conglomerate are much older than the finer sediments of sand or clay they embedded into. Another example is a chunk of diorite that is found embedded into a basalt flow. Both are igneous rocks but the smaller fragment of diorite is the inclusion and would be from an older rock that broke off and flowed away with the fresh basalt lava flow.
Inclusions consist of deeper, older rock that's transported upward into more recent host layers, but they younger than the host layers in which they're found. I see. At first I had assumed that it was just your visual that was in error, but then it was stated verbally as well. Is this claim indicative of the reasoning power within the geology community in general then?
