He was so intent on humiliating me by wiping my pieces out, he didn't notice where I was running to. Against all odds the beer was on him, to the great hilarity of his colleagues. His error though wasn't distraction, but the opposite. Overly focused on taking yet another pawn in a feeding frenzy.

This is why it's a good idea to make sure you know which rules you are playing by before you begin the game. She moved, and took her hand off the piece she moved, but still hadn't hit the clock. Since they hadn't clarified which rule they were using in that situation, she gave him the benefit of the doubt, and let the move stand, even though she realized it was going to cost her the Queen. That turned out to be the difference in the game.

As both a career blunderer and excuse maker, I respect Andrea's reaction after she gave away her queen. She blundered and without hesitation immediately (yet casually) alluded to there being some ambiguity about agreeing to the rules of moving a chess piece and proceeded to "give you my queen" as if she was doing him a favor. When I blunder I usually go with a rapid onset of some medical condition (symptoms always include dizziness, confusion, and the need to lay down somewhere away from the chess board), or I glance at my phone and announce I just received a message that my grandma passed away again or if I'm feeling really lazy I'll just happen to trip in the direction of the chess board and send all the pieces flying.
But this, this is some top notch chess PR damage control on her part, bravo. I never thought about portraying my blunder as an act of charity for my opponent.
Mockery aside, she appears to be a decent player, she's attractive (not that that's relevant...), and she seems like a kind person so I'm routing for her to obliterate the next child she plays.

She played "touch-move" to be nice and let the kid win. I think it's much common in casual 3-minute games to play clock-move.

I was playing in a chess tournament when I sat down with a kid about 8 years old. I was new to OTB chess and laughed inside, thinking this little kid would get whipped. The kid beat me so bad, I didn't play another OTB game for a year. Kids have muscle memory ability, and while they may not fully understand the theory, they can see patterns and recognize strategies that elude older seasoned players. I figured out that kids get rattled and especially confused when playing moves they don't understand. Some think you are setting them up for a trap they have never seen. I have been successful at beating younger players who were much better than me by confusing them with strange moves that look like they make sense, killing the clock, and forcing mistakes. Then you grind them down and teach them a lesson; don't mess with the old guy who can't play well! You ladies are living the dream. Be safe and enjoy your youth! Keep streaming, and I'll keep watching.
