A core value of mine is authenticity and I'm so happy that you were able to connect with that! Fragrance is so close to my heart that that is the only place my content can come from! I hope you continue to connect with my thoughts and find some value in them :)
1) Versatile - simple, dumb-reach, mass-appealing, variety of seasons situations, day and evening (all-seasons) 2) Professional - powdery, (spring) 3) Romantic - boozy, sweet or Amber (winter) 4) Loud - attention-grabbing, sweet (fall) 5) Wildcard/Signature - too unique to classify, artistic, boundary-pushing Thanks, I just fell on your channel after three years in the fragrance community! DannyFragrance.
I categorised my collection by Summer, Spring, Autumn, Winter and Wild Cards too. 3 for each category and if I see something new that I might want, I see if it could replace something in the collection. I never let it go above 15. So far the ones that are already in my collection are pretty hard to replace and I use and love them 😁👍
This is great stuff! Part 1 was great as well! I had to stop watching fragrances content as well. Between Christmas 2023 to now, I’ve given 3 to 4 bottles away and sold the rest on Mercari! Currently only have 6 full bottles and about 15 decants. And have only bought 1 new fragrance bottle in 2024 (Bond no 9 beekman place). FYI Used to have about 25 full bottles of niche perfumes and about 50 decants.
I’m also trying to declutter my perfume. And your ways to declutter aligned with what i’ve done past few weeks ago. The hardest part is to say goodbye with the old bottles. But thinking that those bottles may have better life in other person hands, makes me happy
I’ve sold fragrances at a yard sale and I’ve given them away. I am not getting down to five bottles but I am reducing. I think my goal is to maintain a 50-bottle collection then use samples or decants to test fragrances. I like collecting still and I cycle through my fragrances regularly by wearing a different scent everyday.
I actually resonate with everything said here man.. slowly im making this collection smaller.. its takig times but we will be there.. just want 7 or 8 tops lmao..
I have about 30 bottles. I'm now buying samples, and decants. The only time I'll buy a full bottle is if the fragrance is not available in a 2ml sample or in a decant. I bought a .7 ml sample of Messy Sexy Just Rolled Out of Bed, and it's amazing. It will be my next full size bottle, because the tiny sample was a dabber, and was way too expensive. I can get samples and decants of BR540, so I will likely never buy a full size bottle of it or any other MFK. I don't need to wear everything. Sometimes I just spray some samples on post it notes and smell them throughout the day.
This is such an incredible video, thank you for sharing it! Systems are sooo helpful especially when we are looking to create a change and I know there are many who have decided to challenge their overconsumption habits! I've always been a cheerleader for sampling first and being very stringent about what you add into your collection for full bottles. Loved this video so much, subscribing!!!
I understand you. I've only started to be interested in perfume in 2021. I really enjoy watching reviews and buying samples to experience them. But I'll usually get bored as soon as I finished a 10ml. I just love exploring and experiencing new fragrance. Its like learning a new knowledge. Full bottles now feels like a cage, where I feel punished if it doesn't finish. I'll stick with decants for now.
Hi, this resonates so much with me. I know people who really are collectors and are fine having a lot and do not bother if they do not wear their fragrances but I am not a collector, never been one, and I get overwhelmed whenever I go over 10 bottles, even less. I always end up using 3-5. And that is what I want to have. I also have a similar system and it helps a lot. I also realised that I tend to see 2 groups of smells, the ones I love to try and smell and the ones I want to wear myself. I love to smell complex, thick, warm fragrances but I wear easier ones, these are full bottle worth it for me. Thanks for your thoughts. Have a great week
I'm fortunate in that I get anxiety looking at a large collection. I've only ever gone up to 18 bottles; sitting on 16 currently. For me, I think about 16 is enough to cover a large variety for each season and various occasions. As some of the bottles run dry, I may or may not replace them and eventually get down to around 10 - 12.

Nice topic! This should be discussed more often! I've been long time in the perfumery, but I've been collecting them about 5 years and I had more than 60 bottles. In the last year I realized that I don't need that much of a perfume so slowly selling them. I always buy samples but I try to be hard on myself so I try to buy fragrances I really love.
Again, great collection curation principles. For me personally, however, it will be reducing my collection from around 300 bottles down to about 130 or so.
I recently realized that testing a fragrance only requires 2ml-3ml. This is enough for testing and multiple wears. anything more has to be something I'm already familiar with and like, but don't need a full bottle. Some fragrances are so strong that it only requires 2 sprays to fill a room. A fragrance that powerful in a 10ml will last you a very long time.
I buy 1ml to be able to test as many as possible, even that gives me about 3 wears! If I want a bottle I will buy 10ml first, if I can finish that and still craving for it, only then will go for a full bottle. Most of the time that 10ml is enough 😊
These steps are for folks with very large collections. For a guy like me with only 16 full bottles, the ones I'm not wearing is by choice for special occasions, however, I've been changing that mentality now.
So while I do understand the whole point of what you’re doing. I also think from another perspective it could be an over thought and over examined situation. Currently, I sit at 50 bottles of fragrance. And I wouldn’t say that I have anything that’s redundant over the other sure I do have fragrances that are within the same scent family But I wouldn’t say they were redundant. There might be like two out of the 50 in total that I don’t really grab take a whiff and appreciate and or wear. I think this would be more geared towards someone who has several hundred bottles. Because very early on, and I noticed when I got into the community that there are Fragrance group Dad decant for a really low price if you want to try something There was never any need to commit To a full-size purchase. I would never bring my collection down to Just a few bottles There are so many beautiful fragrances out there that an individual might find full bottle worthy and find time to wear it. I also tend to give out samples to my friends all the time for free. Don’t mean to be long-winded, but I wouldn’t say this applies to most.
I would add to start buying and wearing perfumes consciously for oneself and not for others. Fragtube is flooded with influencers now who advertise the pantydropper perfumes. Sex sells, always has. Time to get that into consumers head, that you will not get a hook up, a life partner or a job by wearing a certain perfume.
Thats a hot take, but I think it really applies to new , easily influenced addicts and clout chasers, 1: we must not forget that sampling can get Hella experience especially when sampling high end designers, luxury, niche and artisanal, you can end up spending loads, hating all off them and or end up with nothing in the end , not even to sell, 2: if you are spending 5,10,15 grand a year, there are definitely others issues especially if don't have it like that, 3: people who" decluter" usually have toooo much stuff, didn't really like the stuff to begin with" impulse buyerd" trend hopers" ect, are low on funds or need a mental break and fresh start, 4: when you sell your fragrances you won't all ways be able to get them back, and some times it may cost you more, and 5: I may be an odd ball but when workhard for then make choice to purchase something it's because I actually want it, so it kinda ass backwards for to go through the trouble of getting it to turn around and sell it. Even worse just give it away. Its like going to work and giving your pay check back with a smile. I will definitely be keeping 99% of my collection including my redundant bottles . That was much longer than extended. Nice video all the same, keep it up
It’s a good thing that I have a side hustle in which I can play with. Honestly I am addicted to buying frags and do need counseling LOL! But seriously I need to stop….
How about 5 per season or occasion. It might be much more achievable to bring it down to say 25, otherwise I would be buying and selling constantly LoL
I wish I could follow such commonsense advice but impossible for me. Just too many great fragrances that are now rare and hard to find or vintage. I could not possibly sell or give those away. lol Also not easy to replace old favorites as the prices for perfume now are getting ridiculously high.
I'd love to talk to you too! You can book a 1-1 with me (completely free and I won't sell you anything) there is a link in the description. You can also DM me in Instagram @sunscentfragrance. I look forward to connecting with you!

New subscriber here love your work and think that it would be very useful if you made a video on cheap-quality perfumes we can find anywhere
I keep a decant of my perfumes before selling, prevents me from missing it!

Thank you so much for the kind, supporting words. It means a lot to me :)
5 bottles for a solid perfume lover who already "knows too much" - is not realistic 😂
really cool ideias, love this systematic approach to fragrance collecting.

I want to have 10 core fragrances that are high end. The rest will just be travel sizes. Thank you for a great video x
Good idea. Also, each person should work on their impulse control because without that, no system will work.

I like this video and your content. Personally I would never find joy in 5 bottles. About 100 is perfect, that is 25 per season, 5 in each category 😊

The reason why I exclusively own only minis or decants. The other reason being I haven't found my signature frag.
Thanks for the inspiration 😊how many bottles did you have the most?😊😊
Great video, it’s what a lot of people need to hear
Thank you for your comment and support! It's definitely a message I wish I heard when I first started.

Thank you!
Happy to help!

You are correct. But if and when it grows larger, this is a video to revisit
I think the key here is that you've switched your focus from buying frags to making your own frags.
Do you happen to know what is a factory import fragrance? Is it safe to buy? Thanks
