aby rea id day she’s mediocre. She constantly puts on a blank face when it really counts (aka the dramatic scenes in the drama). Her mannerisms are so subtle you don’t even notice she’s actually doing anything, and the only way I can explain is that she’s just blank. Almost no expression. Some at most. I watched this drama because my sister had screenshot of Moon Ga Young in this drama (I think she liked the outfit and all) and I actually was so shocked when they (my sisters) told me that Tae Hee was Joy from Red Velvet (I only had glimpses of their MVs but never really got to know which is which) but because of this I became a fan of Joy ❤️ and did watch a lot of Joy’s and RV’s vids 💕

No one can relate to Choi Soo-ji's character because she's too sadistic and selfish, she responds without thinking twice, her actions are not justified anymore, she's terrible. I really enjoyed this scene between Taehee and Sooji, and appreciate both Joy and Gayoung and the portrayal of their characters. I'm going to write a really long comment because I noticed that in other scenes I will find many positive comments, even from kdrama stans, but in this video recently it looks like there were antis who wanted to join in bandwagon hate towards Joy and also excuse the actions of the trio. Let’s be clear, that trio was a group of rich privileged friends who tried to humiliate and abuse Taehee, all because Sooji's crush liked Taehee and Sooji was jealous. People praising the trio are not only blaming the victim but also overlooking the bullying of an innocent person for rich people's twisted games. Let’s also be clear, this drama was based on the French novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses. It would make zero sense for the drama to be based on the trio, especially when part of the point of this drama was to show the impact of toxic friendships, and how Sihyun and Taehee fell in love based on the best parts of themselves rather than their trauma. I’d also say that some of the most pivotal and touching scenes in the drama were between Sihyun and Taehee. So many critiques also lack any understanding of who Joy’s character was. If you watch Joy in her first drama you’ll see how she can also portray a bubbly and brighter character too. Joy perfectly portrayed her character here in Tempted as it was written: someone who is cut off from her emotions and wounded by her past. Joy auditioned for her first role in TLAHL and was chosen by the Director out of 300 girls. The people behind her first drama wanted to work with her again for Tempted. I can understand if people are annoyed if idols don’t show any work ethic or diligence but that isn’t the case with Joy. She was completely dedicated. Since 2018, Joy has also been studying acting and is working to improve. Joy also received nominations for Best Actress, Rookie of the Year, and Actress of the Year, and praise from critics who said that she had shown improvement and growth and that she had been “reborn as a leading actress”. Of course everyone is free to have constructive criticism, but so much of what I’ve seen is just bandwagon hate that actually seems to conflate Joy as a person with her character and it really needs to stop. Joy has shown her potential and she’s working hard to grow just as every other rookie actor does throughout their career. Also just to update: Joy is now in a new drama in 2022 and has been receiving critical acclaim for her acting and praise from viewers for her skills. Joy put a lot of effort into researching scripts before taking on another role and is continuing to study acting. She is an incredibly dedicated person who will always strive to improve. And that's exactly what she's done.
I love the facts that Joy compete to audition rather than casting because most of kdrama fan hates idols doing acting career because they only think that idol are cast to portrayed the character because of their popularity and it's easy to make deal to local and international network drama platform . I mean you need a timid, innocent, yet persistent Tae-hui character, then a wicked, competent, yet problematic one for the character of Soo-ji. Joy being accepted as the female lead already proved that she's fit to portray, and Ga-young hired to play the other one. It's obvious that even tho Tae-hui was the main character, Soo-ji has the same length of exposure as her in every episode. People who are so obsessed by this idea that Joy isn't allowed to be the female lead have clearly never watched this drama in full. Taehee and Sooji were both main characters in this story. Both played an important role. Yet even though Joy was clearly great as Taehee and Gayoung was clearly great as Sooji some are stuck on comparing who is the "lead" instead of what was in service of the story (which was literally based on a novel). This is especially silly when in many ways both of their characters were sidelined for the parent's storyline. Taehee and Sooji were both leads in this drama, so why shouldn't Joy, who was the right person for role, be chosen by the Director?... Okkk I see many people like this story without the appearance of Joy......Joy is the reason why I love this drama so much. Her acting was beyond good here...at certain times Eun Tae Hee (Joy's character) had parts where she had to hold her emotions in and Joy was perfect for that..she is really good at showing a straight face and hold her emotions in. She portrayed Eun Tae Hee's character too well.
Can I be honest, I know that seen from the logical side it's obvious that they must have heart the car noises, but to be honest they are on a parking lot... apparently they are 'alone' but from their point of view another person could be making the noises while entering or leaving the parking lot... They seem to be thinking and not paying attention, keepikg their minds busy. Try looking at it this way, you ruin the drama by looking for realistic details all the time. That's my advise, but feel free to do what you what you want.
First point: this is not just the typical Kdrama you see. It's more on the realistic side. Another point is, it is based on French novel (basically no Korean culture) and since this is Kdrama, they tried to touch it with a bit of Korean culture. But each nationalities have different ways of expressing and handling situations, so maybe that's where their acting came from. And to tell you honestly, I think they all did it successfully. If only people will take time to take this drama into their hearts, they'll know that this is definitely not a trash. Third, critics acknowledged this greatly. And to say critics, especially on a Kdrama which has taken a big part on Korea's economy since it is already popular all over the world, I do not think they would applause this drama and the actors/actresses if it was bad. A lot had said Joy's acting was dry and bad, the friendship of Si Hyun, Soo Ji, and Se Joo sucks, and that their parents were the sole at fault of everything that became a mess in the storyline. But maybe that's just what's in the novel. I am not some novel or kdrama geek or guru, but I know that this Kdrama is realistic. Come to think of it, like practically, all the emotions and all the story here really do happen in real life. Sometimes, you do not express what you really feel, you tend to keep your emotions within yourself, and rethink and reflect. That's what I really saw in Joy's acting of Eun Tae Hee's character. And what I admire the most is that she didn't let people step down at her no matter what, she is as headstrong as she is (not many Kdrama has a female lead like that) and that despite the bet, she didn't hold any grudge against the trio. Maybe people didn't like her acting because they wanted more of Joy's expressive acting. But maybe in the novel even the Eun Tae Hee character does not openly express her emotions and not that often too. You can see the difference with who she's interacting with and I think that's onpoint. Like for example: people judged her harshly for not crying when Si Hyun was hit and collapsed on the floor with blood at the final episodes. For a woman that has been treated like a toy many times, I do not think it is appropriate for her to cry. And yet she did even cry (not hard) when she was at the hospital hoping for Si Hyun to wake up and when she learned Si Hyun's hidden feelings for her from that album/notebook(?) and when she found out that he woke up. Despite with all the confusions their parents and the trio friends caused her, she didn't made a scene and just let her inner mind battle with all that's why she seemed clouded with some of the scenes, like close to emotionally burnout, and do not know how and what to express. Next is the friendship, in reality, there are dumber things/ways to break friendship. Fortunately here, they were able to mend it in the end and reflect within themselves individually which does not happen to all friendships. And regarding their parents? There is an unending storyline of that in real life, we just do not know. I think this drama is an eye-opener realistic one, not a typical Kdrama, but can give you lessons and brings out expressions you didn't know you'll be able to feel. Not the cliche bet stories, but something you will look forward to what will happen next. To simply criticise and be triggered is already enough to say that this Kdrama really did affect you. 😊
You're right. This drama is realistic. Even though their parents were sorta the cause of their problems too, sometimes u can't help it if u love someone so much like taehee's mom and sihyeon's dad. They were lovers ever since they were young, it was hard for the both of them. Besides that, taehee is definitely a really good character trait like i couldn't believe how wise she was in the drama compared to the rest (epspecially the trios) they were the cause of their own problems and yet sooji and seju dare to say how taehee was the problem and cause of their friendship to break. I couldn't understand them. I watched this drama more than enough just to try and understand all perspectives. Especially sooji's considering she is very much toxic in here. I wanted to see and change my point of view on sooji's behaviour but I couldn't change my perspective on her character. It frustrates me on how she victimizes herself everytime events happen. Especially when those events were caused by herself. I thought about how caring her friends were but still she decided to be mean. Plus, seju's character is so biased for sooji like damn boi, he really didn't care abt sihyeon's feelings. He literally went all that trouble to contact taehee to tell her abt the bet even though he knew how sihyeon has practically fallen in love with this girl. I just can't imagine being in this drama. Maybe what people think Joy acting here is bad because her first drama is bright and happy character which is her debut drama "liar and his lover" and after success of her debut she decided to audition to try another concept of drama that really different in her first work .... Moon gayoung is playing the role of Blair Walforf, and her character already stands out on its own. She's badass, snobbish and proud. Roles like those that require strong emotions and roles with well defined personality traits are easier to act. Moon gayoung did a great job with the character she was given, but it wasn't the actress herself that made Sooji such a likable character, it was the way the character was written. Joy's character was frankly kinda bland and boring, and I think Joy made the most of the role she was given. Moon gayoung is definitely a better actress then Joy, but if she had played Joy's character instead yall wouldn't have liked her as much because the character she plays is a bit boring. Also Joy is very young and she's an idol which is a 100 times more difficult then acting (being an idol includes being pretty good at acting for music videos and whatnot, but being an actress doesn't include being great at dancing, singing and constantly attending and performing concerts and award shows)

This drama had so much potential.... I truly enjoyed it. I watched it as it aired, and I remember thinking there was a sort of charm to it that kept me hooked. The ending was crappy, but I liked the rest (I acknowledge it was not super, but I liked it). Also, I'm pretty sad that Joy got so much hate for this. I swear, people act like it's her fault this turned out to be a not-so-good drama. I found her pretty okay. Like, I could go weeks forgetting she was a rookie actress. To me, as an average viewer, her acting was fine, natural and even appealing.

aby rea id day she’s mediocre. She constantly puts on a blank face when it really counts (aka the dramatic scenes in the drama). Her mannerisms are so subtle you don’t even notice she’s actually doing anything, and the only way I can explain is that she’s just blank. Almost no expression. Some at most. She’s good at acting cheery scenes though.

I watched this drama because my sister had screenshot of Moon Ga Young in this drama (I think she liked the outfit and all) and I actually was so shocked when they (my sisters) told me that Tae Hee was Joy from Red Velvet (I only had glimpses of their MVs but never really got to know which is which) but because of this I became a fan of Joy ❤️ and did watch a lot of Joy’s and RV’s vids 💕

I really enjoyed this scene between Taehee and Sooji, and appreciate both Joy and Gayoung and the portrayal of their characters. I'm going to write a really long comment because I noticed that in other scenes I will find many positive comments, even from kdrama stans, but in this video recently it looks like there were antis who wanted to join in bandwagon hate towards Joy and also excuse the actions of the trio. Let’s be clear, that trio was a group of rich privileged friends who tried to humiliate and abuse Taehee, all because Sooji's crush liked Taehee and Sooji was jealous. People praising the trio are not only blaming the victim but also overlooking the bullying of an innocent person for rich people's twisted games.
Let’s also be clear, this drama was based on the French novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses. It would make zero sense for the drama to be based on the trio, especially when part of the point of this drama was to show the impact of toxic friendships, and how Sihyun and Taehee fell in love based on the best parts of themselves rather than their trauma. I’d also say that some of the most pivotal and touching scenes in the drama were between Sihyun and Taehee. So many critiques also lack any understanding of who Joy’s character was. If you watch Joy in her first drama you’ll see how she can also portray a bubbly and brighter character too. Joy perfectly portrayed her character here in Tempted as it was written: someone who is cut off from her emotions and wounded by her past.
Joy auditioned for her first role in TLAHL and was chosen by the Director out of 300 girls. The people behind her first drama wanted to work with her again for Tempted. I can understand if people are annoyed if idols don’t show any work ethic or diligence but that isn’t the case with Joy. She was completely dedicated. Since 2018, Joy has also been studying acting and is working to improve. Joy also received nominations for Best Actress, Rookie of the Year, and Actress of the Year, and praise from critics who said that she had shown improvement and growth and that she had been “reborn as a leading actress”. Of course everyone is free to have constructive criticism, but so much of what I’ve seen is just bandwagon hate that actually seems to conflate Joy as a person with her character and it really needs to stop. Joy has shown her potential and she’s working hard to grow just as every other rookie actor does throughout their career.
Also just to update: Joy is now in a new drama in 2022 and has been receiving critical acclaim for her acting and praise from viewers for her skills. Joy put a lot of effort into researching scripts before taking on another role and is continuing to study acting. She is an incredibly dedicated person who will always strive to improve. And that's exactly what she's done.

I love the facts that Joy compete to audition rather than casting because most of kdrama fan hates idols doing acting career because they only think that idol are cast to portrayed the character because of their popularity and it's easy to make deal to local and international network drama platform .
Joy reserve lot of hate in this drama just because she's the reason why the trio friendship end up but they friendship was already toxic since Taehee (Joy character) meet them and it's the trio fault why they friendship became more mess.
Joy improved so much in this drama, it just that the story line was not that good and it really affects it. I'm still thankful that she was given an opportunity like this but I hope she'll get another acting job with a good story plot.

It's obvious that even tho Tae-hui was the main character, Soo-ji has the same length of exposure as her in every episode. People who are so obsessed by this idea that Joy isn't allowed to be the female lead have clearly never watched this drama in full. Taehee and Sooji were both main characters in this story. Both played an important role. Yet even though Joy was clearly great as Taehee and Gayoung was clearly great as Sooji some are stuck on comparing who is the "lead" instead of what was in service of the story (which was literally based on a novel). This is especially silly when in many ways both of their characters were sidelined for the parent's storyline. Taehee and Sooji were both leads in this drama, so why shouldn't Joy, who was the right person for role, be chosen by the Director?... Just like how Joy was chosen out of 300 girls by the Director of her first drama. Are idols not allowed to audition too? Honestly some people just sound like immature kids joining bandwagon hate. Her acting was beyond good here...at certain times Eun Tae Hee (Joy's character) had parts where she had to hold her emotions in and Joy was perfect for that..she is really good at showing a straight face and hold her emotions in. She portrayed Eun Tae Hee's character too well.

Can I be honest, I know that seen from the logical side it's obvious that they must have heart the car noises, but to be honest they are on a parking lot... apparently they are 'alone' but from their point of view another person could be making the noises while entering or leaving the parking lot... They seem to be thinking and not paying attention, keepikg their minds busy.
Try looking at it this way, you ruin the drama by looking for realistic details all the time. That's my advise, but feel free to do what you what you want.

First point: this is not just the typical Kdrama you see. It's more on the realistic side.
Another point is, it is based on French novel (basically no Korean culture) and since this is Kdrama, they tried to touch it with a bit of Korean culture. But each nationalities have different ways of expressing and handling situations, so maybe that's where their acting came from. And to tell you honestly, I think they all did it successfully. If only people will take time to take this drama into their hearts, they'll know that this is definitely not a trash.
Third, critics acknowledged this greatly. And to say critics, especially on a Kdrama which has taken a big part on Korea's economy since it is already popular all over the world, I do not think they would applause this drama and the actors/actresses if it was bad. A lot had said Joy's acting was dry and bad, the friendship of Si Hyun, Soo Ji, and Se Joo sucks, and that their parents were the sole at fault of everything that became a mess in the storyline. But maybe that's just what's in the novel.
I am not some novel or kdrama geek or guru, but I know that this Kdrama is realistic. Come to think of it, like practically, all the emotions and all the story here really do happen in real life. Sometimes, you do not express what you really feel, you tend to keep your emotions within yourself, and rethink and reflect. That's what I really saw in Joy's acting of Eun Tae Hee's character. And what I admire the most is that she didn't let people step down at her no matter what, she is as headstrong as she is (not many Kdrama has a female lead like that) and that despite the bet, she didn't hold any grudge against the trio.
Maybe people didn't like her acting because they wanted more of Joy's expressive acting. But maybe in the novel even the Eun Tae Hee character does not openly express her emotions and not that often too. You can see the difference with who she's interacting with and I think that's onpoint. Like for example: people judged her harshly for not crying when Si Hyun was hit and collapsed on the floor with blood at the final episodes. For a woman that has been treated like a toy many times, I do not think it is appropriate for her to cry. And yet she did even cry (not hard) when she was at the hospital hoping for Si Hyun to wake up and when she learned Si Hyun's hidden feelings for her from that album/notebook(?) and when she found out that he woke up.
Despite with all the confusions their parents and the trio friends caused her, she didn't made a scene and just let her inner mind battle with all that's why she seemed clouded with some of the scenes, like close to emotionally burnout, and do not know how and what to express.
Next is the friendship, in reality, there are dumber things/ways to break friendship. Fortunately here, they were able to mend it in the end and reflect within themselves individually which does not happen to all friendships.
And regarding their parents? There is an unending storyline of that in real life, we just do not know. I think this drama is an eye-opener realistic one, not a typical Kdrama, but can give you lessons and brings out expressions you didn't know you'll be able to feel. Not the cliche bet stories, but something you will look forward to what will happen next. To simply criticise and be triggered is already enough to say that this Kdrama really did affect you. 😊
You're right. This drama is realistic. Even though their parents were sorta the cause of their problems too, sometimes u can't help it if u love someone so much like taehee's mom and sihyeon's dad. They were lovers ever since they were young, it was hard for the both of them.
Besides that, taehee is definitely a really good character trait like i couldn't believe how wise she was in the drama compared to the rest (epspecially the trios) they were the cause of their own problems and yet sooji and seju dare to say how taehee was the problem and cause of their friendship to break. I couldn't understand them. I watched this drama more than enough just to try and understand all perspectives. Especially sooji's considering she is very much toxic in here.
I wanted to see and change my point of view on sooji's behaviour but I couldn't change my perspective on her character. It frustrates me on how she victimizes herself everytime events happen. Especially when those events were caused by herself. I thought about how caring her friends were but still she decided to be mean. Plus, seju's character is so biased for sooji like damn boi, he really didn't care abt sihyeon's feelings. He literally went all that trouble to contact taehee to tell her abt the bet even though he knew how sihyeon has practically fallen in love with this girl. I just can't imagine being in this drama. Even watching it frustrates the hell out of me😂😭

Moon gayoung is playing the role of Blair Walforf, and her character already stands out on its own. She's badass, snobbish and proud. Roles like those that require strong emotions and roles with well defined personality traits are easier to act. Moon gayoung did a great job with the character she was given, but it wasn't the actress herself that made Sooji such a likable character, it was the way the character was written. Joy's character was frankly kinda bland and boring, and I think Joy made the most of the role she was given. Moon gayoung is definitely a better actress then Joy, but if she had played Joy's character instead yall wouldn't have liked her as much because the character she plays is a bit boring. Also Joy is very young and she's an idol which is a 100 times more difficult then acting (being an idol includes being pretty good at acting for music videos and whatnot, but being an actress doesn't include being great at dancing, singing and constantly attending and performing concerts and award shows)

I feel bad for the actors. If this supposed to be based off the book and the movie ( loosely), the writers didn’t do a good job with the storyline. Because les liaisons dangereuses is about manipulations, sexuality and the immoral acts of characters and society. But after seeing the drama i was like. Ah it just a loose and cheesy adaptation of cruel intentions 😂😂😂

I don't understand why people are hating on Joy and Tae Hee. Joy got the part for a reason, if the wanted that other girl for the lead they would have picked her so stop making a fuss and asked the director. Also, Soo ji made the bet out of jealous because of Eun Tae and Shihyun went along with it because he listens to what ever she says. So its her fault and Soo ji tricked and hurt every one around her and Tae Hee even after her mom LEFT HER FOR DEAD. How is she the jerk someone explain that because the core 3 didnt split up because of Eun Tae they split up because of Soo ji irrational, cruel and manipulative behavior. The only reason Sejoo hasn't left is because like he said she'll be all alone. So explain how Tae Hee is a jerk for standing up to Soo ji

Not telling her obviously makes her angry, and Sihyun accusing her of things is even worse - It's just all going to blow up and Soo Ji will be even crazier when she knows. So tbh Taehee and Sihyun arent so perfect and Soo Ji, although I'll admit that she's pretty messed up, isn't solely to blame for this mess

They are still trying to wrap it around their minds before they go telling someone. Its also better to her it from her mom because she won't believe it coming from ANYONE else.

Ikr, all these comments are so hard to understand. The trio were toxic af, not only to taehee but damn their friendship is not healthy at all. When I thought seju was a good friend, he actually was so biased for sooji and made me so confused. He didn't want happiness for si hyeon, he only wanted sooji to be happy. Their selfishness killed their friendship.
I remember reading the comments about a year or two ago just hating on Tae-Hee’s character and feeling disbelief! Even when I tried to defend her I started to feel like I was crazy since the general opinion was that the trio was good or smth. So glad that people have changed their minds about the trio and that the victim blaming is being seen!

This drama had so much potential....
I truly enjoyed it. I watched it as it aired, and I remember thinking there was a sort of charm to it that kept me hooked. The ending was crappy, but I liked the rest (I acknowledge it was not super, but I liked it).
Also, I'm pretty sad that Joy got so much hate for this. I swear, people act like it's her fault this turned out to be a not-so-good drama. I found her pretty okay. Like, I could go weeks forgetting she was a rookie actress. To me, as an average viewer, her acting was fine, natural and even appealing.
