Whew, just got caught up on the orange tabs. Hey, there's that dispatcher Nicole's voice again! Great tutorial for me. I was driving a truck myself when the JB Hunt thing all started. Everyone said that would be the end of the trucking industry. It really just changed how it's all done. Thanks, Dan
I love that K3LA on RBMN #5017 which is my second favorite RBMN unit. Now I have a reason to try to catch the SBPI or PIFF. But sense I have to go to the Railroad training school I barely have time to film vids.
Very cool do have any videos on the economic impacts of railroads, like the jobs they create and how much of a benefit they are, im doing some research
Could you elaborate? What unique id numbers are relayed to the 'Kitchen' from the locomotive operator(s)? Do the locomotives (power cars) have license plates or something similar?
Have you ever had anyone ask about the condition of the tracks? maybe it's just the low angle prospective but some of the track looks in pretty bad shape. Is that acceptable, given the speeds the trains are moving?
I live in scranton and have always loved trains, I remember watching the trains go by on the scranton express way when I was around 9 or 10 years old. But I have a question for you that I thought you may know with your knowledge of the Taylor train yard. I don't remember when, but I seem to remember seeing a passenger train (double decker commuter) on the express way tracks that appeared it was being transported somewhere. No passengers where in the train. It wasn't like a special excursion train from steamtown, but it looked like an actual commuter train was being transported to another city, and was going towards the Taylor train yard. Thanks for reading, hopefully you may have some knowledge on this.
Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry, I don't remember exactly whether they were njt or mbta cars. But I have seen what njt double decker cars look like, but have never seen any mbta double decker cars, so I would guess they're njt double decker cars. But I may be wrong. Any ideas of when there may be some passenger cars passing through taylor yard? Also, that was a pretty cool video you caught of those mbta cars
Thank you very much Trains21 for such a really awesome and wonderful video this is something I have been trying to find out for a very long time to get a real Yard fully functional I am now just have to take this name for my Rail Yard, Terminal, I am going to need someone's help to choose a name either Taylor Yard or Inman Yard I just modelling HO Intermodal Containers I have Lionel 0 scale MI-JACK and 4 other static cranes at the moment I hope I can get help or answer with help with this I really and truly enjoyed this awesome video thanks again Trains21 for such a perfect video well done on this video
This would be ten times more awesome of there was someone speaking, I know it may mess with the intended aesthetic, at least add low volume music in the background of the rail sounds
The fact that they're so big is the very reason that I didn't mention them this time around.. When talking about UPS it's getting into an entire new facet of intermodal.. Ironically, UPS and FEDEX both have terminals here but for whatever reason aren't using the intermodal service.. Yet.
Where I live, UPS uses the intermodal service, but for the most part they just move their trailers on spine cars. Even the intermodal containers are generally stacked single high on spine cars.
What a horrendously slow operation to get a container off a railcar and onto a truck that's just a yard shuttle to move the container to a parking slot. No wonder railroads aren't making better money at intermodal. I don't imagine it's any faster getting containers off trucks and onto railcars.
I think BNSF annual revenue report would disagree with your ignorant comment. Intermodal volumes and revenues are the top of the food chain at America's largest Intermodal carrying RR
Cuts down on labor between ship/ rail/ and truck modes, which is the administration's goal -- just like running DPU's and longer/ heavier tonnage trains. No problem, Dan.. I was driving for J.B. back in 1994 not long after the intermodal thing with them started and like you said, it was a game changer.
Was that Nicole I heard at about the 28:30 mark? I was surprised to hear a woman's voice.
Nice that they are so friendly to your presence there.
Yeah, the NS crews are usually pretty tolerant of railfans.
Tolerant?
i saw a bald eagle the other day when i was down there!!!! keep you're eye open for it!!!
Ok
Such a glorious shot at 25:03!!!!! Really awesome
Thanks Marc.. I liked it too!!
another great video,thank you.
Thanks, Carl.. You're welcome.
I think I just found my new favorite channel!
Another great video. Trains21 + Chromecast makes for an entertaining evening. 👍🏼👍🏼
LOL, thanks Bob.. I like that!

Understood
dude awesome job on the taylor yard
Thanks Sean, in an odd sort of way, I kinda' had you in mind when I was making this vid!
Good video. Thanks

Do you book a container on a freight train like you do a seat on an airline?
No

@@wanderingfido cab/ loco numbers
damn that was close where that loco stopped at 24:55
Yeah!.. I was thinking that myself!
Awesome video!
Thanks, Santa Fe!
Im really curious, if you don't mind me asking why'd you mute the audio at 19:56? :) Awesome videos by the way, just subscribed
There was a very loud beeping that ruined the audio.. Thanks for the sub.

It's the angle that they're shot.

Were the cars NJT or MBTA?

None.. They come very sporadically but when they do it's usually on 36T and 37T.
Interesting, does 36T, or 37T usually come on specific times/days?
They're both daily trains.. Early morning, usually in darkness.
Thank you very much Trains21 for such a really awesome and wonderful video this is something I have been trying to find out for a very long time to get a real Yard fully functional

Why not call it "Teady" or "Connolly" Yard????
Where does 11Z originate? Nice video.
Binghamton, NY
Trains21 thanks

You have failed to mention UPS. I have read that UPS is the railroads single largest customer.
The fact that they're so big is the very reason that I didn't mention them this time around.. When talking about UPS it's getting into an entire new facet of intermodal.. Ironically, UPS and FEDEX both have terminals here but for whatever reason aren't using the intermodal service.. Yet.
Frank Owens i use to work for UPS last year but i dont anymore
Where I live, UPS uses the intermodal service, but for the most part they just move their trailers on spine cars. Even the intermodal containers are generally stacked single high on spine cars.
Question my friend what camera do you use for filming.
Sony HDR-XR160.. It's an older camera (about 5 years).
Thank you.
;-)
drove rail shuttle for Roadway Exp. for 6 yrs. friends that were packer operators. UP mtr freight.watched cars being set out, spotted
Cool.. I pulled containers out of several rail yards east of the mighty Mississippi.
What's all that scraping noise?
Where??
I think you mean the sound of the car wheel flanges scraping against the rail. It's more pronounced in a curve.
Why do the little container tractors need to tilt the trailers up and down like that?
To lift the 'landing gear' high enough off of the ground.
they're yard "mules". the have an elevating 5th wheel, so they don't have to raise and lower the landing gear by hand
Little Container Tractors Lol.. They are called Mules/Jockeys/Spotter/Trucks/Yard Dogs/Switchers..
It may just have been the angle, but those trains looked *_awfully_* close at 25:00.
No.. They were reeeeeally close
I saw a truck (not like an 18 wheeler, but a normal size pickup truck) pulling 2 containers going down a highway
Wow.. That's cool.. Never saw anything like that.
Trains21 yea me either, i usually see truck drivers pull containers, but a pickup truck?......it might be powerful to pull containers
They're empty containers that someone has bought for storage, like a pod.
+steven brock exactly.
they were empty

I don't think so.. Thanks for the input.

Do you have a better solution? Teleportation maybe? or Jean Grey?
To be honest he is either a rookie or hes just a shitty operator. Most guys where I work would have done 4 or 5 in the time it took him to do one.
@@cowboydogger9979 Maybe 2, 4 or 5 is a real stretch.
intermodal SUCKS! but it pays the bills.
Many in railroading would disagree with you.. At least the first part.
@@Trains21 the trucking side, i meant
