I DO grow Knockout roses - a couple of varieties. My thoughts - they’re a heckuva lot of bang for my buck. I think they get a bad rap for being “landscape roses”. However - they’re vigorousness and toughness can’t be denied. There’s a place for specialty roses and landscape roses; everyone isn’t a rose gardener. 💁🏻‍♀️
Sorry for the long comment - enjoyed the video so much! Thanks for taking us along! ❤ xo

At the end of last season, I decided to give roses a go, again. The last roses I had ended up succumbing to rose rosette. Anyway, last year, I purchased an end of season Knock Out Rose from Home Depot. The funny thing is even though I had roses before and my mother loved and always had a rose bushes, I never knew that you needed to prune / cut them back until recently. I did my cutting back / pruning at the end of February. I'm praying that they do well this time.

I have one knockout rose shrub it lives in a pot at the front walkway and does great. I have it for the same reasons you do English roses don’t do very well for me in the ground they are super fussy, I gave up last year. I replaced all my English roses with knockouts and the proven winners oh so easy double red roses. I have 7 Knockouts, 7 Drift Roses. I do sprinkle Bayer BioAdvanced All-In-One Rose care in Spring & mid summer. I believe it helps with the growth. It isn’t organic if one does all organic care. I’ve read about the dreaded Rose Rosette disease….🙏🏻I never have that.

I have not been able to prune my roses yet because it has not stopped raining here except for last weekend which was a holiday so I had company and was unable to get in the garden. Hi Steph, I guess you could call me a recovering rose snob who formerly wouldn't allow a rose in my yard that wasn't grown on it's own roots. Too many years of waiting for the promise of "continual blooms" to actually happen and I decided to try other options. Heirloom, David Austin, Kordes, Bucks, Grafted, landscape, Knock Out etc. Now I like them all, this spring I bought a box of two grafted bare root at Costco for 16.99 called New Life, I can't wait to see what they do this summer. Very good tutorial on the cutting back process!

My only problem was they were red roses and did not coordinate with my garden color scheme. I felt terrible removing them because they were in the perfect spot but just could not live with the color. Hi! Great video! I planted my first Knock Out Rose (which I thought would have red flowers but they're sort of a peach color) many years ago, but it hasn't grown well at all. I realized, just this year, that it wasn't getting enough sun at all. It's planted next to a Rose of Sharon that has covered the poor thing's light exposure. I need to move the Knock out Rose by early Sept. because we're adding on a sun room then and the wall will be going right where the bush currently is. I'm in zone 5, so I wondered if you might have suggestions for how to move her so she doesn't go into shock-I know it's not a great time to transplant. Thanks so much!

Hello, I’m new to your channel and really enjoy your content..such a wealth of knowledge. I have knock out roses and love them. However, black spot has infected them. Actually, the bed that they are in, last year, nothing did well. Fungus of all sorts hit all my plants. I think mulch and plastic were the culprit. I removed the plastic, but left the mulch and pulled the mulch away from the plants, thinking this would fix everything, but I am seeing black spot on the stems of my roses. Does this mean that the rose is hopeless? I would greatly appreciate your input if you have any
