    I love how this was our ultimate attempt to not win and it still finished 14th. But now RTE unironically sends entries that finish last.

    I remember the very night this was performed, live, at the Eurovision. It's one of the more memorable entries from Ireland. It's a lovely song and he's a very nice singer.

    What a beautiful song and lyrics. Eddie sings it so well. I remember watching this when 13. It is extra special to me because my mum no longer with us loved it so I play it in her memory.

    This is such a beautiful song and sung so well by Eddie Friel. The arrangement is just sublime. One of my all time eurovision favourites.

    Probably an unpopular opinion, but this is better than ALL of their three-in-a-row winners. 14th place is too low for this song I think, this is definitely in my personal top 10.

      Those three duds nearly killed the contest stone dead. Especially when Norway won with their cheating song and rhe Ireland won again with another dreary ethnic song. It felt at the time like it would never end. This is pleasant but not a winner. Spain and Sweden were great this year.

      Yes I have listened to it, for only the first part sounds the same but it stays with this tune through the whole song (which makes it boring) while the Irish entry had another tune to the song that it sounded different and sounded better, so it was not really the same song and that was the reason that the song was allowed to enter the contest.

      It should have done much better. I love how laid back it is, which allows the song to flow so well. My favourite Irish entry of the 90s along with 1990.

    well, Ireland didn't want to win again back in 1994, so they tried everything to make it impossible to win, but, surprisingly they won again, well, about this song, it's ok, not bad, nothing iut of the ordinary, but pretty decent, i like it. :)

    Fun fact:
    Not counting the entries in 1999 because so many in english that year...
    This is the only fully english song to be out of the top 10 in the 90s
    All the songs from the holy trinity that were the songs from uk malta and ireland all made it to the top 10 even if in a tied situation

    Well, we didn't want a 4 in a row. He has a lovely voice, but that song is rather unforgettable. (I had to learn look it up to jog my memory) No one was going to beat Secret Garden in '95, 'Nocturn' is an amazing track.

      Funny you say that because I was 5 when we entered with this song and I remembered every single word and note of it (after only hearing it once) until I found it again on TH-cam about 2 years ago :D :D I think you meant to say 'forgettable' btw ;) It was unforgettable for me
