They know they get roughly 2.2 ounces of gold an hour, so every hour they arent running dirt, thats 2.2 less ounces of gold they have at the end of the week. Its simple math, they cant just make up that lost gold because they are already running full tilt as possible. So by the end of the season there will be gold in the ground they couldnt get and thats money lost.

U know nothing about mining gold, if he don't have pay dirt 2 haul 2 the wash plant not only is he losing gold and big money not running pay dirt, each day not finding pay dirt loses gold count and the seasons open so long that is gold lost and not recovered for that year and big $$$ lost, so yes the narrator is CORRECT and u made yourself look the opposite of smart. @@scotthultin7769 You can play make believe with word games all you like, but the reality is simple. Every hour of sluicing they gather 2.2 ounces of gold. If they dont sluice for an hour they lose that money.

They need to find a better way to imply how much is lost during down time. Aside from fuel cost and company and wages, he isn’t “losing 140k” he just isn’t digging that amount up. Doesn’t count as losing because it would mean it costs 140k an hour to run everything and that’s just simply how it is.

they say "he is losing gold" but they mean he is losing time.the time to wash rocks is the limited resource in the season,if you lose time,you make less gold,cause you can't add the time once the ice has come in.

It is lost gold if they dont sluice for it. They know how much they make an hour, they are down that hour they dont make it, money lost. At the end of the season those lost hours worth of gold are going to be sitting on the ground not being collected.
