I really do enjoy this game, but listening to you saying that you drop anywhere between $50-$100 a month in the game just to build a character seems like more of that this becomes more of a scam game just to bilk people out of money to be able to be anywhere on a contender, and the way they keep dropping new characters to keep people hooked is almost equivalent to a drug dealer, pumping new supplies to their addicts
You absolutely don't need to spend. I have't spent a dime and rank high in all game modes. High rankings give good rewards in return, which helps you build your account in the long run. Non-spenders have to be careful about decision making, everything matters and new players can go wrong easily. Personally I like the min-maxing stuff, playing as efficiently as possible.
@ yeah someone can do that, but to get a single character built to be any kind of contenders to earn better rewards you need to be spending money, on things like daily chests to earn time emblems, or have enough diamonds to make hero purchases, when you don’t have enough drawing scrolls. When normal players have to keep paying out money to try to keep up with new characters and the builds that it costs yearly you could be spending anywhere between $600 or $1200 yearly that’s just on the low end that’s if you’re not buying any of the other package deals to make sure you have enough in credit diamonds to say purchase equipment. I do love playing this game, but this is going to make me reevaluate how often I’m going to want to play this game and how much money I’m going to want to spend out where I could go probably go buy myself a gaming system itself and have fun that way as well
When you are already endgame, every hero can be built as soon as it comes out without the need to invest any money, just be wise while spending you diamonds. Wait a little to know if the heroe will be meta or no. If you choose wisely, you will be able to build meta heroes as soon as they launch, however, Awakened heroes, you have to take this more in consideration, one bad decision an you can waste a lot of resources and you may start to fall behind in the leader boards, that happened to me with A Antandra, I have saved time emblems for ALucius but i made the wrong decision and summoned Antandra, nos I'm out of the top in TS, NC and CR :( Edit: Don't event think in building HB Dragons haha those mf are crazy expensive

idk i am a f2p throught out my life and in NC i am top 200 (r6 61) top 100 in TS as for CR I can't compete there for obvious reasons
