I still can't come up with any words that fit this band and the concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I felt feelings I'd never felt before and I'm an INFP. Love Kansas, have since I found them at the age of 16.
Awesome move hiring Tom Brislin. I saw Kansas a few years ago when their last studio album was released and the keyboard player was the weak link (not too bad on organ, but he couldn't play the synth parts at all.) Brislin plays Kerry's old parts to perfection and this is the first time in many, many years that Kansas has played "Song For America" the way it suppose to be played. Kudos to Tom and Kudos to Kansas for hiring him.
There's a video floating around of Brislin demo-ing Casio's new stage piano at NAMM just before it was announced he was joining the band. He bangs off a version of SfA that just flat amazes. Never would have imagined this song performed as a solo piano piece. :D
Tom is and has always been an amazing secret weapon. Been a fan since his work with YES. Quite the progressive pedigree. YES, Camel, Renaissance and now Kansas. The man definitely deserves to play with the best.
I've been a fan of Kansas since the first album, having lost them for a decade or two, I have to say this performance gives me chills, as does what I've heard so far of the new album. Nice to hear Kansas again.
Yes this was a great show! Took a friend who had never seen them live and he was just blown away by their sound lol. I remember Tom Brislin had just joined maybe 4 or 5 months earlier and I was very impressed on how quickly he picked the music (especially this tune 😁). Cheers 👍🍻
