This just made the 9ve a must have pistol . people are buying this gun just so they can get the threaded barrel for it, thatz if they can find a barrel apex can't keep them in stock.
I am not a 9mm fan at all but have a back up carry is a SCCY 9mm cause I like the size for carry but still wish it was a 40 cal. Not too fond of it cause it is a 9mm. They do not have much stopping power from experience with people.
My SD9VE has the barrel you're talking about. I've had much trouble with that barrel from Apex. It will jamb when firing. All the time. When I put the original barrel will fire flawlessly. I've tried comparing the Apex barrel with the original to see if there are very small differences. It just will not slide smoothly enough to eject the spent bullet. It's come down to sanding off the coating in order to get to a smooth barrel. I've already changed out the trigger with the Apex trigger and am pleased with the result.
I'm gonna get one of these guns to gussy up. Treaded barrel, trigger work,red dot high rise metal tritium sites. Don't want none of that crap on my Glocks or expensive guns. I had a smegma 25 years ago. The only good thing is it introduced me to Glocks.
@@JettBlast alright so i ended up getting an SW9VE barrel and trying this... Since i have the California Compliant version the barrel is cut differently for the loaded chamber indicator... It simply did not fit because of that section as far as i could tell. Maybe the CA compliant Sd9ve barrel would work but i have not found one for a good price and i kind of wasted money on this old (now) useless barrel lol... I dont think I'll try again anytime soon, im gonna go for a Glock 22 built with a 9mm conversion barrel
That new smith and Wesson SD 9VE is really a cool looking handgun. As I said I had a sigma back in 1997 and I bought it because of it's super cool looks. Function I'm afraid was a botched abortion . For 299 every gunship in the area has them. I'm getting on and will load it up with all the goodies you have on yours. Should be a fun project .
A silenced SD9VE would be bad ass, in fact I might consider doing that to my SD9VE... Actually, consider is the wrong choose of word, I'm definitely going to put a silencer on it.. It will cost a bit cause if u thought a threaded barrel was expensive try a silencer!

I bought mine NIB never fired for 250 bucks with 2 mags and a molded IWB holster. Fantastic deal. I’ve had this pistol for about 4 years and I still carry it to this day on occasion. I’ve fired thousands of rounds through it and it’s never, not once malfunctioned. I’ve not done anything to the gun but a light and extended mag plate and custom rear plate. It’s underrated imo.
@@sethh8892 well this was 5 or 6 years ago. Now days if you can get it under 400 it’s a good deal. I’d pay 350 all day long. This is an extremely underrated pistol.

I’m fairly certain that 9mm barrel will fit in the .40 simply because the cutouts in the slide allow it, it should work so long as the mags are interchangeable, I have a SD40VE
When I bought my SW9VE, I tried Glocks, M&P9, and Bereta. Cost wasn't the issue, I just wanted to have a High Capacity Mag. This fit the best in my hand, the Price was only a bonus.
Long overdue ! It's a budget gun not a cheap gun and very dependable and accurate plus it's a 🇺🇸 Smith & Wesson 🇺🇸 you can't go wrong. Great video and info 👍futuristic gun sd9ve nice.
No idea why people shit on the SDVE. It's essentially an American made Glock for 1/2 the price by a company that's just a reputable and been around for a whole lot longer. And the amount of money some people drop into their Glocks, they really have no right to complain. Just wish there was more aftermarket support for the sdve platform. It basically takes a backseat to the M&P series.
This model firearm has an 8 LBS trigger, This is a self-defense entry-level pistol. This also is the same size as a Glock 19 or Glock 23. For the price point, it is very difficult to find a better firearm.

The apex barrel fit my Sd9 perfect, the only issue i had is it does NOT work with the 32 round pro mag. Every time i chamber a bullet it get stuck in the barrel. The standard mags work fine with this barrel
A $200 barrel for a $300 pistol? I did the springs on mine for $20 and that is all I want to spend upgrading a $300 pistol. I can live with the stock trigger. I would probably do a light or some type sights before that barrel. Good job on your videos Josh.
Kind of torn on getting this. The black barrel really sets off the contract with the slide, but not sure if I would have to put suppressor height sights on with the threaded barrel. Suppressors aren't legal in my state. I'm also not a fan of the suppressor height sights available. Might send the stock barrel out to be DLC coated and then upgrade to the Trijicon HD XR sights.
Update: "Both sides of the isle" has officially been used up for the the remainder of 2023 and the entire year of 2024, anyone caught using this worn out phrase will be hit with a fine. You can thank the creator of this video for that.
My hubby just bought me one for my birthday Friday. It holds a very tight pattern, but it shoots low. For myself and my hubby. So just ordered new sights. Lazer/light next along with a new trigger.

I cant recall what its called now that I'm writing but its leg holster, military style but it literally folds around ur gun and then velcro to secure it to where u like! I just ordered one myself so I'll let u know how it works out with my SD9VE!
@@donttreadonmining9146 very. I can shoot about 4 inch spread at 55-60 yards haven't tried anything passed that and eats 115 grain for breakfast.. stock barrel would have maybe 4 or 5 rounds even hit the paper at that range. Very well worth the investment.
Thanks for the review, and repeating what the website stated about the states the barrel isn’t currently available. After doing some searching it’s stated that installing a threaded barrel on a semi-auto pistol creates an illegal unregistered assault weapon. Thus, you’re not able to legally register it in the state of California. I can’t wait to leave this state, and go back to FL.

I've had good luck with NDZ. Their guide rod allows for spring changes. Their 18# is working well for me. I don't run a lot of +p however. They have other spring rate options though. Good luck ✌️
Dude I have one and it's the only one I have. I Love this pistol and I'm starting my upgrades as I speak. Keep up the good work and I will continue to watch. And all the haters can bite me, they made me to love mine more and I wouldn't buy a Glock now for nothing.
Pro mag part# smi A-20 is a 32rd for the sd9 ve cain arms also makes magazine extension that hold +5 but I was able to put 22rds in factory magazine promag also makes 25rd mag for the sd40
I think these are great and very good value! Here are some items that will upgrade your pistol, Truglo TG231MP Brite site then you can add the Streamlight TLR-6, 69293 that fits the Smith and Wesson M&P pistol fits the 40VE/9VE and works great. I have the Streamlight TLR-6 on many of my sidearms and hope to have one on all of them. This model has a Laser and 100 Lumen light and it not too bulky and very light I highly recommend them and Fobus makes a holster RBT17 that works with this sidearm with a light installed. the CAA Roni & MCKs are great. CAA is an awesome company they listen to their customers they make great items. I would recommend having 2 pistols one to install in a CAA MCK and one on your hip and have a "Perfect Pair"(sidearm and carbine/rifle in the same caliber and even better if they use the same magazine also!) They are great to have!

I've had the sw9 for years now (its damn close to the same gun), and have thousands of rounds through mine. I'd bet my life on it any day of the week.

You can add on an 9 MM compensator to reduce the 9 MM recoil further

Apex doesn't offer the sd40 threaded extended barrel YET but i love it on my sd9 makes a WORLD of a difference in accuracy

Love mine, About time they came out with a barrel. They sell a sight plate on eBay so you don’t have to machine cut your sd9 or 40 to add a sight.
