Old reaction, but ima drop my two cents anyways.
What I love about this song is there's a lot of rappers, singers in general, that speak about being being broke and other hardships but it doesn't really hit. It often feels like a contradiction, or a brag, cause they also do shit like showcase luxury and a wealthy lifestyle.
It's not the same with Tom, cause he's not showcasing or swagging the wealth. He has the shit now for sure, but he only touches on it as a response to people trying to say he's contradicting himself. Like, he doesn't have this stuff just cause he 'can'. He's worked hard and struggled to get to where he's gotten, and leaned on family on friends when he needed to get by, but he's paid it forward since he's made it, and done so tenfold to show his gratitude. Like he said, the luxuries he has acquired are a symbol and reminder to him of where he's been and what it took to get there. He has it for himself to see for meaning, not for whoever is looking at him. As opposed to a lot of signed artists that clearly have stuff as a celebration, and are say "look at me and all the money I have now!". It's not the same.
There are a few other successful artists that I feel have the same 'realness', but it's still slightly different because they usually still had that big break and got signed, whereas Tom's struggle and effort staying independent has taken so much more work and effort than anyone who has blown up with a label.

I'm stuck right there myself, before any kind of made-it. I keep a single dollar bill in the shredded wallet I've had forever, because more often than not it's quite literally my last dollar. I work 80 hours a week and it's just barely enough to continue existing, assuming not one single unexpected event ever happens. I have the luck of Jonah himself though, so I'm usually clawing my way out of some ridiculous situation that nobody's ever heard of before. I'm 31 in June and married, October 30 will be six years now, and that is one hell of a story by itself. (Almost killed myself driving my old beater across the country to go rescue / meet her for the first time, and my engine literally exploded 257 miles from the nearest "town" in the desert. Then bouncing between hotels for a year afterwards just trying to get back home, only for my family to abuse her once we did finally manage to make it back, triggering another two year run around the country between hotels. She's pretty sick and can't work herself, and I can't afford to get her healed up; so it is what it is, and that's a solo grind. Good times.)

This isn't one of those god damn internet sob stories, I don't want anybody's fuckin' pity. I took what little time I have for sleeping to post this, in order to resonate with and show solidarity for both Tom and Cliff. There's a LOT more of us types out there than you think, and it's because we start off quiet. Why is Tom so damn loud then, you ask? Why does Cliff have a platform he can shout his mind from? ...Because it just takes us a minute to rip through the gag that life shoved down our throats. Once we can finally get a hand on it, that's game set match.

He was intentionally looking like NF, setting like Hopsin vids so reactors would mention something about those artists before his don’t compare me to Hopsin, Tokin, NF and Em line. And boy did they! It was super hilarious some of the reactions after that line once they realized they just made some comment seconds before 🤣. Tom was always gracious in the comments though. But that’s why he looks different than “normal” Tom I think. Brilliantly played and very funny.
