In some cases Purchase Orders are created outside SAP like in some web portal or any legacy system. This information comes to SAP by Middle ware tool in the form of XML messages. Middle ware system maps the message in the form of IDOC in SAP
Hi Praveen, PI/XI is a separate system which is in between SAP and outside systems/software. It works as a mediator between two systems to communicate. In SAP, a connection is created to PI/XI which is called RFC connection. Just like electric connection to our home in simple terms.
