  • Hallstatt, Austria is one of the oldest villages in the world. Hallstatt was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Hallstatt is famous for its production of salt. Hallstatt Salt Mine is the world's oldest salt mine. It is approximately 7000 years old and it is still working to this day.
    This video is part 2 of my walking tour of Hallstatt. The link to Part 1 is below. In this video, you will see Hallstatt Skywalk (Welterbeblick), Restaurant Rudolfsturm, Hallstatt Salt Mine (Salzwelten Hallstatt), Hallstatt hiking trail, Hallstatt Market Square (Marktplatz Hallstatt), Lake Hallstatt, Hallstatt Ferry Station, Hallstatt Train Station, Hallstatt Archaeological excavations, and the Classic Hallstatt Village Viewpoint.
    You will also see what hiking in Hallstatt is like as I hike down from Hallstatt Salt mine to Hallstatt Market Square.
    A 3100-year-old wooden staircase was discovered in Hallstatt salt mine in 2002. It is the oldest wooden staircase found to date in Europe. A replica of it is displayed in front of Hallstatt Museum a few steps away from Hallstatt Market Square.

    Patio Lunch with a view of lake Hallstatt. Totally worth it for 22 euro's... came with a drink too? Way to enjoy the day.
    A regular lunch in america.. would cost that much.. without the beautiful view.

    thank you for the part 2, very informative and enjoyed it so much. Seems you took same route back and forth using train. I was told to take different route with bus no 150 from Salzburg and take the train on the way back.

    • @WandererBell
      @WandererBell  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I used the same route back and forth using the train and ferry. I was based in a city called "Bad Ischl" which is not that far from Hallstatt. Salzburg is far from Hallstatt. People who visit Salzburg from Bad Ischl usually take bus 150 as it is a direct bus to Salzburg.

      @@WandererBell so your train route is only for the last segment, from Hallstatt to Bas Ischl (back n forth). Then use bus 150 from Salzburg - Bad Ischl, back and forth ?

    • @WandererBell
      @WandererBell  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You take bus 150 from Salzburg to Bad Ischl if you are coming from Salzburg. In my case, I did not take bus 150 because I stayed in Bad Ischl for over a week.

    You took train from Bad Ischl over the bus...is there a reason?
    Your return trip also by train ...seems beautiful by ferry.

    • @WandererBell
      @WandererBell  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I took a train to Hallstatt and then a ferry. I did that to enjoy the ferry ride. I did the same for the return too as it was close to sunset and the view was amazing around that time. The bus ride is boring.

      @WandererBell Thank you for the advice. The train also departs earlier and is faster.
