agreed. in a lot of ways it's the best part of this episode and often the most overlooked because of everything that gets revealed. but it is especially poignant because lucinda spent the months leading up to this treating iva like garbage and threatening her if the secret came out when in reality she didn't know what secret actually was. so when iva finally lets go of everything she's been holding in lucinda realizes not only the gravity of she'd done for all those months but how brave iva really is. lucinda always put herself on such a pedestal above everyone else especially as a mother, but this is the first time she really connects with iva on that level and shows her the respect and understanding she deserves. lisa brown an elizabeth hubbard were always great but they're both on another level here.
Always was weird Anne Sward portrayed the mother of Craig and Margo.. she was about their same age😂 and Casey Lisa Brown knocked this epi out the park💯💯 🕊️ RIP LISA BROWN
AstralPixie I know Lisa Brown and Martha Byrne we’re nominated for Emmys for their performances (Martha won for Best Ingenue), and I’m pretty sure that this was the episode that was submitted that won ATWT its first Emmy for Best Show the following year.
Yeah, they don’t make them like this anymore. The writing these days is terrible. They need to pull old episodes of ATWT and GL from the archives and take notes.
Oh wow! It’s all come back. This was MUST SEE TV. That summer I stayed glued to the TV because the soaps were on 🔥during this time. And Lily finishing out the truth….I still feel all the hurt she felt. Such amazing acting on everyone’s part.
Lisa should’ve won an Emmy or at least have been nominated when she was on Guiding Light for her phenomenal scenes with John Wesley Shipp when Kelly finally confronted Nola about all of her lies. I think the most powerful scenes ever on GL. if anyone has never seen them I highly recommend it.
OK, this episode made me cry when it first aired but Oh My Goodness!!! Martha did an EXCELLENT job of making me cry all these years later. I felt every emotion. Wow! I'd been hoping this episode would show up here and I'm thankful that it did. Amazing.
It was around this episode that I started watching ATWT, because it wasn’t broadcasted in my country before. And I always thought Bill Shanks (Casey) was a hottie.
I've always been crazy about this episode in particular and remember when it aired--during the time when there was a lot of pre-emption because of the Iran-Contra hearings. So glad this one stayed intact. What else can I say...Doug Marland at his very best!
towhead72 Absolutely agreed. This is every bit as classic as Kelly confronting Nola on The Bauers’ patio about the paternity of her baby on July 31, 1981. Also one of Marland’s finest hours.
I mainly watched ATWT from 1987 to 1994. During that time, it seems like there was very little interaction between the Hughes and Snyders. So it's interesting to see the Seth-Frannie pairing.
I never understood why Rod/Josh became became buddy-buddy with everyone after he raped Iva. Did she forgive him? Because despite what he did, he married Meg and gave Lily away at her first wedding with Holden. And people acted like everything was hunky dory.
omg, the episode where iva told lily she was her mother--even tho' liy then went on to still call lucinda her mother. must have confused late comers . . .

This is a classic episode. Terrific acting and outstanding writing.
Just heard about Lisa Brown's death. I am absolutely heartbroken. What an incredible talent she was!!!
Lucinda's embrace of Iva brings me to tears. Amazing episode.

Wow....
This is a big episode. Lots of tears.
Excellent performances from Lisa Brown, William Fichtner and Martha Byrne.

I grew up on this soap. It is the best of the best. Thank you for uploading!!
And this is Exhibit A on why we watch soap operas .... or why we used to watch them.

Followed Lisa Brown to ATWT from GL, what a great storyline. Love Lucinda as well.
I remember this I was 12yrs old hooking school watching soaps...& I remember this episode vividly

Lisa Brown should have won the Emmy
David Savka Agreed!!
Lisa Brown absolutely should have won an Emmy for her heart wrenching performances.

Barbara totally rocked those shoulder pads. ;)

I love the way Iva played her character this story line was so EMOTIONAL I felt so sad for Lily and especially what happened to Iva when she was young

The guy that played Dusty was gorgeous!
mmhmm
It’s Brian Bloom
These episodes from 87' are GREAT! I hope you eventually upload June 29th:) Thanks for these:)

Iva outstanding, Lily, over the top. Great times!
I swear, this is one hugging town. I have not seen so many people hugging on any tv show.
After all these years 😭
Superior acting on Young Martha Byrnes part!!!
Best episode ever
Why is the old version of the theme playing during the closing credits? It had changed in 1985 and wasn't used in 1987.
So 6 months ago Barbara slept with Duncan and now she is with Hal? I forgot how fast people switched bed partners.
And before that she has a short trist with Tonio.
This is my 30th birthday
Why did they change the age from 17 to 13 in 6 months? I wish I remembered watching all this the first time.

I remember this was in the Summer of 1987 but I thought it was in July But I guess not .... LOL

So Julie Ann Moore played both Sabrina and Fanny character Im not a fan of this accent
