Well said at the beginning. You're the first to point out when the meta is established that something is busted, but it's way too early to complain about a deck that just got buffed.
Yeah, and this deck have so many weakness because it's kind of a combo deck. Need to protect a Landmark. You NEED to draw your two champions. You NEED to keep them alive or just drop them when you have meet their level up. They have some board presence, ok-ish mean to control the board, good way to find their combo pieces. And when the combo is enable you still need some work to win. So yeah, now that Azir don't hold back, it's a good deck. But it's clearly not busted and I don't know why someone would say that. Because it was borderline trash before ? Oo
But it's nowhere near Bandle Tree that have: Really good board presence, ok-ish control board but that just need one card to enable the 'combo'. And you don't need to work after that, because it's a win condition that said 'you win'.
Riot really needs to add some banter between Azir and Xerath, the deck is fun to play and that feels like the only thing missing from it (we need older cards to get updated voice lines in general when new cards drop)
Yeah but voice acting is not an easy thing to set up. Maybe if Azir's and xerath's voice actors are needed for other thing they might give them an extra line or two.
Yeah I feel even for other regions as well. Like after the Ruined King game I expected all of the Ruined King characters (Braum, Yasuo, Ahri, MF and Pyke) to have interactions with one another but other than Ahri who has some interaction the rest don't which sucks imo and I really hope they'll update that in April.

@@shai310 Yeah... No. I'm not against it but I'm pretty sure it's on the lowest level of their 'concerns' right now. And people will complain a LOT if they add that in a 'balance' oriented patch.

I love Draven, so I thought about Viktor a while ago, but completely discarded the idea because the Hexcore just felt too heavy...if that makes sense.
So I'm REALLY happy to see a list using the two that is most definitely more optimized than anything I could ever put together.

4:01 I actually got destroyed by this deck 2 days ago, while I was, indeed playing Azir/Xerath
I had no idea what he hell was I facing and "ambush", indeed ambushed me pretty hard XD XD
It was very interesting to watch this as I was climbing really fast today with the Riven Viktor version. I love these Viktor decks. There is so much skill expression in every single decision to make.
In the "mirror" match up, if your opponent did not blunder with that greed attack on turn 3, he could keep the Riven up and him getting an Overwhelm fragment/completing the Blade could have changed the entire game later.
I still prefer the Riven version, because of Nyandroid being an alternate wincon and Fragments allow for clutch keywords/attack buffs, also, Blade of Exile in an Augment deck can be an absolute menace, especially on fat Ballistic Bots.
Still, this list looks solid and fun to play!
I absolutely love the design of Riven, she is so underappreciated and fun to pilot

Swim’s version doesn’t care for face damage protection at all tho, scrying sand’s purpose is purely to predict and find the combo pieces.
If we were to replace a card from swim’s deck, it would probably be a more expensive « filler » card than scrying, like the aspiring chronomancer or a copy of preservarium, maybe.
(Tbh I still think swim’s version would be better left as it is since it’s an all-in combo deck that is too efficient against everything else to justify teching elusive protection)

My problem with mono shurima at the moment is that they ascend two champions, expecially xerath without interaction. And on top of that they predict and always have them turn 6. And in the end i am playing vs this deck 99% of the time which simply not fun. Even if i win sometimes. I usually just sit there, watching 4 lvl ups and loose.
I like when mogwai plays non-BC decks because I get to hear him talk through the options his opponents have. Its much harder to do commentary when their options are the entire card pool.
Hello mog, im an everyday viewer of urs(well more of a listener) and i would love to see ur take on karma aphelios. Its my fav deck of all time(love karma targon) but im just not good enough at deckbuilding to make it work even tho i feel like it could be decent(not t1 or t2, but till people start playing more bc imo it could work vs mono shurima, pantheon,viktor and things like that.) And maybe even against bandle tree as u can get multiple landmark removals through invokes and divergent path since i play moon temple anyways. Also i noticed even tho i remember hearing from you that you think karma may become a problematic champion and u dont like her design, i think shes one of the most played champion in ur channel by now. Also i remember ur karma aphelios deck back in the day, after someone brought it to seasonals

Yooooooooooo I’ve been using this deck for ages, not this exact version, but the old version you showed quite a few months ago. The version with three decimate and three survival skill. I’ve been having a ton of success. Oh and also two might.

My man. 2x Viktor, 2x Rumble, 2x Jinx, discard/mech fodder, no poro cannon. I've also put two Piltover University for the memes and I still have to lose a game (just diamond, but I'm new to the game). Impact stacking + scaling threaths + infinite resources + burn + no one playing shadow isles = op
I've also had insane success with a TF/ez Rex build (funsmith is nuts!!), I think it could be time of a turbodraw 2.0 video :D

I think too that mono shurima is a solid and fun deck to use and to climb, is not nearly as toxic as yordle in arms or old azir irelia.
Hot take: There should be NO landmark removal (unless its to remove yours). In exchange, landmarks should be balanced on the basis that they can't be destroyed.
all you need to do is delete landmarks like star spring and stupid tree for that to even work

Alternatively, just remove the "Win the game" part, and instead replace it with a "For the rest of the game, fill your board with yordles every round start" or something like that...
Imagine star spring, instead of "winning the game" it just said "For the rest of the game, your units can't die or take damage"

I'm also thinking if there is a possibility to change landmark mechanics in general (landmarks that have no countdown spesifically), maybe we can give permanent landmarks (star spring tree etc) a short countdown, but the countdown can be increased by doing spesific action (dealing dmg, play spells, summon units, etc) so that we need to do something actively for retaining the landmark's value, which can also be interrupted by your opponent's play. That way maybe we dont really need to rely heavily on landmark removal to distrupt landmark's gameplay

I found that running viego, kindred with crumble has been very good.
Switching to Si and using atrocity as a finisher is nice with vi and the augment units, although at this moment in the meta you can't go wrong with an aftershock.
Online Card Games have players forgetting the best part of card games that is deck building. They are quick to shout OP instead of working to find a counter. Just netdeck and thats it.

Nothing in the patch lowered the power level of Bandle, all it did was unleash a new strong deck. Im all for broken things, but just because Shurima hasn't taken over the entire leaderboard in 2 days doesnt mean it isnt strong. It is cool to see Viktors and Moonboys running around tho
Swim bring the darkness of mono shurima, Mogwai bring the light of the COUNTER.
@Megamogwai I suggest u try Viktor with Udyr sir. The deck is really fun and have actually great synergies with balistic bot and the 2 drop that buffs units when u cast a spell and then “give them all” to create super board. Good luck, ty for vids.

14:30 I just hard disagree. There's no reason to not put him at 3, you won't need the poro and if he's at 3 every aftershock represents lethal. At 4 you need to connect TWO aftershocks to represent lethal. It's strictly the better play to put him to 3 health.
You say "There's no reason not to" but that's not 100% true. There are cards in Shurima that could be played to reduce the damage. You'd expect the opponent to have played them by now, but maybe they thought "This isn't representing lethal, let's wait for the opponent to play their buffs first". With Mogwai's play the opponent doesn't get the opportunity to play those cards, but in exchange you do need to connect two aftershocks, as you mentioned. I believe there are only two plays in Shurima that could prevent that happening, Rite of Negation or double Ruinous Path.
Both plays are very, very likely to win, but neither is strictly better. It's a meta call based on what you think the opponent has access too more often.
@@driftwisp2797 simply put a burst speed 1 damage spell that out them in range of lethal makes it so they HAVE to have that card that saves them or they lose. If they have that card, the game plays out like it did already except now they're on a clock. Of they don't have the card then they just flat lose.
The way he played it gives his opponent an out without adding any extra pressure
@@autumneagle It adds the pressure that if they don't have Ruinous or Rite he'll just burn them down with two Aftershocks. It's the same thing. Either they have outs and are still on a clock, or they die.
Personally i have this realease watcher vibes from this new mono shurima in the sense that it pulls off a late game mechanic (emperor's deck and lvl 3 champions) way earlier and very consistently soo basically if you don't deal with it fast enough you insta loose, im not saying is stronger than old watcher but it gives me the same vibe.
At least with mono shurima other control decks can actually beat it even after it flips the disc… one of the biggest issues with watcher was that it completely invalidated all the other control decks.
Honestly a good control deck can match the value of the emperors deck late game, just gotta remove 2 xeraths and your in a good spot.

I made the exact same deck idea Day One, an won 61 games of 75 Total, but with this list you Just get dunked on from so much suff like aphelios and hard control decks, i think farron Is 100% important in this deck, also, i play only 2 aftershocks, 3 Is too heavy
i was literally trying to make the same deck yessterday... thank you for a more optimisedversion, especially the aftershock... habit made me default to scorched earth, but in this case aftershock is indeed better

The best deck for thus meta is Taric Go Hard. Cast Go Hard on taric to duplicate it and soon turn it into an essentially Burst Speed Pack your Bags. It's too OP and better be nerfed right now

I play random decks and try weird stuff a lot but monoshurima has always been beatable. Definitely stronger because of the faster ascendingof azir and emperors deck

I think soothsayer should be an aura effect instead of granting the spellshield.. she's 2 mana and has 4 health so it wouldn't be easy to remove her anyways. Pretty broken card
I dont need yordles. I beat azir decks with my degenerate old school burn agro. I would be suprised if Swims version has a above 50% winrate after 2 days. Its bad in mirror matchup and loses to hyper agro and burn and ofcourse... yordles in arms.
I hope we get a hot fix for yordles next week.

Hm, I played my Caitlyn/Teemo deck on my noob level (Bronze II) against Mono-Shurima and manage to down them like 90% (10% cases of 48 traps on 20 cards and the opononent managing to draw all the clean cards @.@)
Another thing, is there a way to still get the Caitlyn emote?
I'll admit I was pretty sad about Mono Shurima becoming a super popular and strong combo deck because if it gets nerfed it will make other versions of Mono Shurima (that I prefer) even less viable than before. It's also annoying when everyone and their mother is spamming it and you can't interact with it due to landmark removal problems.
Having said that, I picked up a LeBlanc/Sivir/Nasus reputation list and have been laughing ever since because they just can't cope with the pressure - not to mention Reckoning ruins their hopes and dreams XD

We all know how to fix Yordles in Arms, it's in the card's name. Yordles, just delete them.
One of the problems with mono shurima being a real thing now though... It's very unfun to wait for all the animations to finish. Even if it it not THE best deck, its pretty annoying at times

That the top of server have "yordles in armes" still in recent decks its not an argument because:
1. Its still one of the most popular decks they played along time and its still in their use.
2. Top players know how to contr for example taking spell to kill landmark sun disc.
3. Overall mono shurima IS MOST OP deck now, top 10 players are not good example what is too strong in the game. Shurimas deck is impossible to contr for most of decks after 6/7 round and thats why is so confusing.
First mono Shurima miss played anyway...
