In all seriousness hoodrick is a decent tribe, their starting tech is kinda rough but ive noticed their land tends to be very resource heavy which makes them pretty solid in my book.
This video has really helped me out today. I uh, I lost a game to Zebasi as Bardur. My ego and elo are shattered. but seeing a comeback like this really helps me understand how I just absolutely got smashed. Good video 👍
Exactly the same thing happened to me when playing Hoodrick but my opponent played Bardur, he started throwing horses at me but I had a lot of eco and started making a lot of giants and he had none, I lost a city just like you and made a comeback with giants and he resigned eventually lol
Actually, I disagree with what your advice was at that point. The reality of the situation was that the oumaji player simply expanded too quick and screwed himself. More cities does not equal more better. Once he had those 7 cities, he needed to have just stopped expanding and focused on eco and unit production. Maybe stop at 6 cities actually. But he kept expanding instead. Riders and warriors wouldnt have been good enough in that situation since he didnt have the economy to absorb those losses.
Oumaji should have went archery and combine them with warriors to avoid hoodrick riders sniping the archers to deal with the giants, the only thing saving hoodrick was the giants where archers were needed to counter them
4:48 I don't understand how you leveled up your city, chose "population growth", and then immediately leveled up the city again and got a super unit. How did you do that?
Well oumaji have a poor eco and hoodrick are annoying with their defense bonus Plus i'm not sure that throwing riders to the clown's giants really works Even with 7 villages i dont think his eco was so much better than yours. He probably didnt have enough ressources to overwhelm you with riders. Why did he loose ? Clowns -> solid B tier tribe Oumaji -> D tier tribe + Map too big
@@GingerSalmonthey have bad resource density and have to go organisation which is inferior to hunting. They expand quickly in the early game, but they can’t upgrade those cities as easily as other tribes and their tech cost goes up. So basically if you try and go the expansion route as oumaji (it’s only unique play) you will have a bad economy and can’t even tech up quickly so your opponent just will steam roll you with giants or whatever

Yeah resource density is a super underrated aspect of a tribe
Absolutely the only reason he was able to stack giants like that was because of the super heavy forest density for his lumber mills
Even then they're still very defensive because of the forest density that Hood has in the first place.
Not anymore:-( lumber huts are costly

It’s a good day when GullYY uploads
Polytopia really needs more recognition
Not only backed into a corner, but as Hoodrick too! Amazing win
imo Hoodrick isn't that Bad. They have great giant potential.
@OMAYAKI yeah NGL I think they're alright I mostly just said it for the memes since this is GullYY we're talking about
Great game, great comeback, GullYY uploading always makes my day at least a little better.

The ultimate character development for Hoodrick - from being clowns to takin' towns.
Thank you! You are the best polytopia channel :)
Was waiting for this video after the previous one
Gully, you should do a *voice* reveal at 40k subs! 😀👍
Hmmmmm yes we definitely haven’t heard his voice yet

HAHA ITS A GOOD DAY!
This epic video made me zibimubibibabimbi
Do you have some REALLY long games? Id love to see you playing long endgame
sheesh
Gullyy you got one thing wrong - Its not hoodrick that is based. It's the kraken.
Gully do you play chess?
4:48 I don't understand how you leveled up your city, chose "population growth", and then immediately leveled up the city again and got a super unit. How did you do that?
he got a lot more than needed to level the first time so it added the left over population
He chose border growth and put lumber huts in the northeast forests
His name?

First like

Oumaji is quite underrated, definitely not D tier. And their eco isn't as bad as people say it is
