I live near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (on the east coast of the United States) and have enjoyed the music of Magma since 1974, when I heard Kohntarkosz part 1 on the radio. I then went on to purchase each of their albums as they were released, from Kohntarkosz onwards (and then I went back to purchase their older material as well). Yes, I first heard of them from hearing them on the radio in the USA, and yes, each of their albums was released in the USA! I had the privilege of seeing Magma in concert three time: in New York City in 1999, in Trenton, New Jersey in 2003, and in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2016. What a wonderful and unique band Magma is! What an excellent view of the concert here!
This is from an alternative universe, the MAGMA UNIVERSE, this performance is the best anyone could ever witness. Magma are in a league of their own, no one else gets anywhere near them. There is no fakery here, just pure unadulterated tallent from all concerned , Thank you MAGMA for all the joy you have given us.
@@sinusiridum551 Buongiorno Antonio, come stai ? grazie por la riposta. You are right up to a point about their music, some of their albums are almost impossible to enjoy as a whole. I only possess one album by them and that is the Live one :-))) Here, I was really refering to the pleasure I get from their live performances, some of which are superb, in my opinion ;-)))) I have the same problem with the likes of Henry Cow, Art Bears [ I love Dagmar ], and many other Zeuhl and RIO bands as they are only good in places ;-) Gong is a different matter, as are most of the Canterbury bands, they are "weird" in a beautiful way, and I am old enough to have bought the Gnome trilogy albums when they first came out, they are more consistently good and have that ethereal quality to their music. I love Steve Hillage and Tim Blake, Mother Gong, Matching Mole etc., etc....too many to mention :-)) What about all the wonderful Italian prog-rock bands? don't you listen to them???? have you listened to Weidorge and the Paga band for a heavier sound?? Ciao and cheerio from Wales.
The bass playing on this was truly MONSTROUS when Magma performed it in London a couple of weeks ago, that repeating lower bass note like some huge thundering pulse beat underpinning the whole song, truly amazing, like their performance of MDK right before hadn't already wiped the audience out. No idea what the lyrics are about though....
I caught the show last night in Seattle. Truly an experience of a lifetime. The set list Köhntarkösz magma mekanïk destruktïw kommandöh encore: Slag Tanz 2nd encore Zombies (Ghost Dance)
OK !
I think Slag Tanz is likely the best composition from the second iteration of Magma (after re-banding in the 1990s). KA is superior and E-Re VASTLY superior, but these are not new compositions (performed live in 1973 and 1977, respectively.) Felicite Thosz is good, but not as good as Slag Tanz. The EP songs are OK, but not earth-shaking. Zess and Riah S are both revival pieces. The compositions on Kartel are half-and-half (old/new), but none of the new are as substantial and rich as ST.

You heard Kohntarkosz on the radio?! Was it WFMU?

This is the best STUFF OF OUR TIME. Evolution of De Futura.
Puissant!
This is not a mere performance but a channeling.... of something IMMENSE....TERRIFYING....UNEARTHLY...AND UNSPEAKABLY BEAUTIFUL..

Slag Tanz rocks!
Christian Vander... immortal
Version à retenir; avant et après.
And Christian Vander is the best Drummer EVER.
TOP !
Apocalyptique zeuhl.
C'est du Grand MAGMA *** .HAMTAÏ
Pas vilain... :-)
So bizarre.

The final section of Felicite Thosz is incredible. But yeah, Slag Tanz is amazing too!
