Interesting concept, the demon feeds off of and kills using fear, therefore her one weakness is being challenged by someone without fear, because then she's as weak as she appears. Guess that's why her "parents" could finally attempt to off her at the start, they feared their "daughter" for years, but once social services got involved, where they were being humiliated as bad parents and the poor abused girl, their fear turned into a visceral hatred, and they could finally try and kill her. It also explains why the demon could kill them later, they maybe thought they were safe locked up, or was still riding their hatred of her, but eventually that hate would waver and they would realize they are vulnerable, and thus, started fearing the demon again.
Would've been smart if the parents explain to the cops why they are trying to put their kid in the oven in the first place instead of trying to attack them so that way they at least know! If attacking some cops while trying to burn a demonic little girl is not gonna make a situation any better and now the cops learned that the hard way!
