Mickey is a hero amongst all the heroes on 9-11. RIP to all the brave service personnel who ran up when everyone else run out. Your sacrifices will never be forgotten.
This man caught my attention on 9/11 2001. He's such a strong n positive guy. This is especially true during times of distress n it amazes me how positive he was on that day. Love ya man. You make me proud to be an American. Semper Fi brother
Mickey was featured in the 6 part Nat Geo documentary called “9/11: One Day in America” that came out in 2021. I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone who hasnt seen it. Absolute masterpiece in documentary film making
Uncle mic mick I love you forever! I’ll forever be more than greatful for what you did that day saving my aunt saving others!! Words can’t describe how much I love you 💜
Mickey Kross’s interview from shortly after 9/11 (sometime in the early 2000s) has always stuck with me. I’m so glad to have found this interview & to know he hasn’t suffered any major 9/11 illnesses. ❤️
I remember Mickey from earlier videos. God bless this wonderful man. Keeping him in prayers for good health and staying safe. You are precious to all who have heard your story.
Ny dear friend's Dad was a 1st responder and worked for months at Ground Zero. He is 80 years old now, and dying of lung cancer. Breathing in that air has killed so many people.
More people have died from illnesses & diseases in 9/11 than the actual plane crash and building collapse. I think in total it’s almost 10,000 lives lost due to this entire attack. RIP to those that lost their lives in the attack and the aftermath
I remember this remarkable man and his colleagues from years ago. Yes he looks a lot frailer but his spirit is ageless and shines through, God bless him and all the Emergency teams that helped everyone, and also survivors from the towers that worked in the buildings . New Yorkers were amazing and clearly all tried to help each other during and after this event. Best wishes to everyone xx Never forget .
Thank you Lt. Kross. I was 14 years old here in NYC when the Twin Towers were destroyed. I'll never forget that day. Let's never forget our first responders, and the many lost that day.
Comes across as a very considered and thoughtful man. Who has lived a full and interesting life even outside 9/11. I wish him all the very best from Ireland.
So glad you're still with us Mickey❤. I've seen many documentaries with you in it. I always wondered what happened to you. Be well Mickey and ty for your bravery ❤ also very sad to hear about Josephine 😥
Got to meet Mickey a few years back when he traveled out to Chicagoland. My husband (retired B/C) drove Mickey from the hotel to an establishment where Mickey was guest of honor. Fascinating stories!
Just listening to this now. So nice to see this man although 23 years older is still a funny, interesting human being and I’ve always loved his accent .
What a wonderful interview with a beautiful man. Thank you for sharing with us all. And thank you Mickey for your service and bravery. You are a hero 🙏🏻
The absolute trauma of that day. And this brave soul without a scratch. Sure he has battled PTSD all these years. What happened? People who survive plane crashes ask the same thing. Heroes all.
Wow Mickey Kross. I can't believe how old he's gotten 😳 I will always remember his story, it feels like yesterday. I'm pleased to see he's still with us, he is such a great guy. Best wishes health and happiness Mickey 👨🚒🚒🎖
What a incredible human being Mickey is. He is endearing, honest, and genuine. This interview is wonderfully done and should be viewed by all interested, adult Americans as well as viewed by school children in their history classes. The events of 9/11 changed the course of my remaining work life, and for this, I feel a connection of brotherhood with Mickey.
I recognized him from another 9/11 documentary and had to watch. What a cool guy. Humble, heroic, and what a storyteller. Reminds me of my dad who is 81 and has similar qualities. Great interview.
I'm Canadian and the events of 9/11 captured the world'sattention and our hearts broke for New York 💔 and for all US citizens. So many heros stepped up that day especially the passengers who thwarted the hijacking of flight 93. The courage and bravery of fire fighters on a normal day is commendable and that day they showed the world true heroism. I think we all became "adopted" Americans on that day 🇺🇸 ♥ To all the emergency responders and to everyone affected by this tragedy I pray you find some peace 🙏 🇺🇸 🙏 God Bless America 🙏 🇺🇸
I just want to hug this man! Such an amazing man with a remarkable story! I love hearing each one of these hero’s stories!God Bless you, sir, and thank you for your service! 🇺🇸❤
The really heartbreaking thing is that in many videos of that day you can hear him speaking on the radio to command and other firefighters that ultimately died that day chief pfeifer survived , Mickey survived , and others that he worked with survived but many others he loved and worked alongside from other stations were killed.
Honestly seems like the most fascinating guy on the planet, not just his 9/11 story, but the different professions he took it was interested in, how his intentions wasn’t originally to become a firefighter, his dedication to continue after 9/11 seeing to him it was his obligation is inspiring. Mickey is the tough as nails as they come, it seems like he’s had so many close calls but it ends up with him unscathed. It’s an honor that he shared his story with us, the way how he presents himself he is able to talk about his story without letting it get to him as this day is a very haunting day for those of us who remember that day. And very glad that so far he hasn’t been devastatingly affected by the health concerns related to the aftermath of the attacks. I hope that he has thought about sharing his story with the youth who have zero understanding of the events and teaches them of that day. A lot of young people are coming into the world with little understanding of what our experiences were and how it has impacted their lives growing up without their knowledge. Have a feeling he is one of the few who can help them connect to that day.
Mickey Kross recently attended an event in Connecticut. "Retired New York City firefighter Mickey Kross who survived the collapse of the north tower was recognized for his heroism." and then went to the NY event as well.
Hey Mick glad your still with us. Stay well R (Mick and another FF from his house Steve Belson were 2 of the FFs I got to know when I got on in 1980. We lost Steve on 9/11.)
