Paul Thompson Me too. I watched Transformation first and actually thought it was a Broadway production because I didn’t read the description. When I did I couldn’t believe it.
@@christinearwood781 Same here...after seeing the first few minutes of the Broadway version, I decided to look for other versions and also found that gem
He really smashed that! The way he captured the audience and the way he led the band was brilliant. He sings really well but not just sing the way he's acting is incredible with so much passion and love for theatre. He's going to be big one day!
Here's what I appreciate SO MUCH about this performance- He was so well coach vocally- he (and his coach) understood HIS voice, and didn't try to make it something it wasn't. He's a tenor, and while the song and orchestration remain the same- they shaped it to fit HIS voice and his youth. And it worked SO WELL. I've seen J&H probably 4-5x and everyone seems to be doing some version of Anthony Warlow's original recording (although Warlow never toured in it.) The best tour was first that began in Houston. Every other time I've heard it done live- they're over singing with this vibrato you could drive a truck through. It's distracting- especially the 20 second build at the end. Yikes. But this kid is tremendous! Good for him.
Good heavens..... what do they feed them at The King's Academy?! This kid has it all.... talent and skill and charisma and whatever the "x-factor" is that makes a star. What a powerful performance! Bravo Bravo a million times!
3:01 - 3:10 I’ve been listening to this bit on repeat and I can’t stop, my god what a voice. And it’s so adorable when he says “and make some sense at last” with that little smile
Anyone else just watch his AMAZING 2020 performance of this song, and came back to watch how much his voice had matured?!! He was incredible here, and he only got better!!!! 😭💕
I don’t know if you already saw transformation of 2020. I think his voice matured and in this song you can see the improvement, although I must say his change from his Jekyll part to is Hyde was in this version my favorite because he seems so innocent as Jekyll and that made his Hyde even more sinister. But the confidence in his voice in this year gives us a new take on his Jekyll not more little innocent „über ich“ and ich ( to use Freuds words) that is afraid of his animalistic side. More a moral driven man 🤷🏻♀️ maybe I interpret too much in it 😂
Every time I watch another TKA show video, I meet another great talent and this young man is fantastic! Kudos to the team for recognizing great talent and for them giving a platform for these fine young men to showcase their God given talents for everyone to enjoy!
SushiW07 His name is Gregorio Umana! He reprised the role of Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde recently. I have watched him in several plays with TKA. He is in Aida playing Mereb.
This kid needs to move to New York and play on Broadway!!! He’s incredible at such a young age I can only imagine how great he will grow. I hope to see him on Broadway one day.
Wow...some crazy talent coming out of the sunshine state! 👏👏 Many of these Amazing (with a capital A) kids are destined for Broadway (no doubt some will one day own a Tony) but that is stating the obvious! Love these productions! God bless!!❤
The actor's voice mingled with the grand orchestral music was great. It was amazing to set the beat to his performance and he was as interested as a famous musical and met my expectations.
Amazing high school production! I agree with a few others though that the piano needed to be toned down so it doesn't overshadow the singer. Now, this may just be the fact that it is being recorded from the audience area and the live production sounded different, but I can only gto on what I see and hear here.
Well here we go, David hasslehoff actually acted 1,000,000 times better than he did this Jekyll/Hyde is boring and cheesy and too light and cheery and operatic
Great vocals - my only criticism of this entire thing is the volume of the piano and the over pedaling the pianist partakes in - but I guess as a long time MD and Piano Conductor it's those little things I hear that grind... but this guy has huge potential. Nice production work too :)
I'm learning this on piano now as an early intermediate, listening to learn the context of the song. I'm glad I also noticed the same thing as you, a professional
Supernatural Girl ngl, it's just practice. I can do it because I've been playing the flute for years where you also have to breathe in a lot of air and control how much you breathe out
So glad came here from bangtan bomb black swan shoot where Taehyung was kindda playing around pretending to be in the character of a musical actor.. Ohh Taetae.. He's so cute 😄 and this musical is just GREAT✨
Who is he? Someone please tell me! A voice like that needs to be known by name. I cried and that only happens when someone hits a sweet note and this kid fucking SLAYED this song. I’ve been trying to get my tenor range back but this is something I’ve never been able to do. In my past “Phantom of The Opera” or “Music Of the Night” was considered slightly difficult but no I can tell you with pure confidence that this is the hardest tenor song I’ve ever attempted. He’s incredibly good for a highschooler.

"Be careful. Hyde Park is dangerous at night."
"So are you."
The air is choked with dramatic irony.
It is so "on the nose" that it's pushing against my face, and blocking my airways XD
Unintentionally FORESHADOWING
This looks like a top flight production. I'm sure the young actor playing Dr. Jekyll is having no problems getting his first professional jobs!
This is a high school production? Are you kidding me? My mouth was almost on the floor.
Paul Thompson Me too. I watched Transformation first and actually thought it was a Broadway production because I didn’t read the description. When I did I couldn’t believe it.
haha

Better than hasselhoff

I think you'll find that's an orchestra, not a 'band'.
John Grieve my mistake 👍
I can’t believe this is high school student production until I read the comments
R Chong it IS?!?! Woooow!

Such a brilliant song performed by an equally brilliant performer. This young man will do wonders!!! 👍🏼

Wow Wow Wow Wow Wow. I watched the David Hasselhoff Broadway version, and this young man was SO MUCH BETTER
I heard the only murder in that production was Hasselhoff's singing "This is the Moment." That's a shame.
Absolutely breathtaking!!!! Please god tell me this young lad is doing something special now. What a talent!!!! Shocked doesn’t come close.
Unbelievable that this is a high school student! BRAVO!
Wow I’ve heard a lot of high school productions this blows every high school production of any musical ever heard out of the water
3:01 - 3:10 I’ve been listening to this bit on repeat and I can’t stop, my god what a voice. And it’s so adorable when he says “and make some sense at last” with that little smile

I don't care he was just a high school student or not. Even this video uploaded 5 years ago, this is best that I ever seen.

Legend has it that the audience is still clapping..well done
Oh wow, the talent radiating from this boy is uncanny!! His voice is stunning!
Wow! He can really sing this song with such meaning and passion. Fantastic.
This was a great production. The young man playing Jekyll and Hyde has an amazing future. He is wonderful. Amazing voice.
bless this child
So much control and beauty to his voice!!!! Bravo!!!!
One of the best 'this is the moment' I've ever heard. Thank you for ur talent.
He's going to be famous someday
What's his name so I can look for others productions he's in.
SushiW07 His name is Gregorio Umana! He reprised the role of Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde recently. I have watched him in several plays with TKA. He is in Aida playing Mereb.
Not for English accents though
He is truly amazing otherwise
4:54 ... Hes looking back at the overpowering orchestra like "FFS, guys, I'm trying to sing here!"
That's why they have mics and someone at a sound booth.
Absolutely stunning, beautiful voice.
This was the best version I've heard. That's some talent.
I'm sure there were tears watching this - so much talent!!
ARE YOU SERIOUS?! OMG!! This was fantastic!! A high school product?! BRAVO!!
You are looking at a future Tony Award winner..
This kid needs to move to New York and play on Broadway!!! He’s incredible at such a young age I can only imagine how great he will grow. I hope to see him on Broadway one day.
Seriously, you are saying this is high school student’s performance? This is sooooo adorable
See, now when I came across the first cast recording with warlow, I was so intrigued with his voice. This man has a a similar effect on me
Wow...some crazy talent coming out of the sunshine state! 👏👏 Many of these Amazing (with a capital A) kids are destined for Broadway (no doubt some will one day own a Tony) but that is stating the obvious! Love these productions! God bless!!❤

Such a beautiful song.. this song gracefully represents the human inquiry for knowledge..!
I just saw the show on Saturday at Broward Center for the Performing Arts. This kid was every bit as good as the lead, who was fantastic!!

He has a very beautiful tenor voice and his looks reminds me of Elijah Woods
3:48 the best "made it!" i've ever heard from a jekyll performance
oh wow i love his voice. It is a manly voice, deep and musically loud .
The actor's voice mingled with the grand orchestral music was great. It was amazing to set the beat to his performance and he was as interested as a famous musical and met my expectations.

The voice is unreal. Did he become a huge star? This is 8 years ago.
What the hell!!! He can sing even when his mouth are shut???? I saw that in a second!!!! 😨😨😨😍😍😍😍 he is so talented and so cute 🙈
I've gotta laugh at how this kid outclassed The Hoff lol.
Wow. I feel the same way.
Well here we go, David hasslehoff actually acted 1,000,000 times better than he did this Jekyll/Hyde is boring and cheesy and too light and cheery and operatic
When he outclasses Anthony Warlow I'll really be impressed
Gregorio Umana... WWHHOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!
