God I need to see this band live. I typically don't even like this genre, but since hearing them a couple years ago, I can't get over how talented and amazing this band is. Marissa's voice in this live performance is absolutely haunting and I prefer it over the album version.
They're in Australia in this video. I'm guessing the amps and drums are rentals, so that they wouldn't have to fly everything over. Pretty sure the guitars belong to them though.
Ah good comment. I had overlooked that. First time I have seen the bass Mike is playing here and the Drum kit looks different for Garret, but that is def Marissa's Strat.
I've seen him play that bass before. It's basically Peavey's interpretation of a Rickenbacker, called a t-40, I think. They're popular as backups for Ric players since they sell for fairly cheap and they have a reputation for being rock-solid. Marissa's guitar is a G&L S-500. I think that black one she got through sponsorship with G&L, so they're both in-effect playing their backups. If anything happens to either of them due to air travel and questionable bag-handlers, it's not like they've lost their originals.
You could be right, although the bass doesnt look anything like Rickenbacker and it does seem to have a 'thicker' sound. Good description of MArissa's axe as far as I know... a strat is a strat to me lol I am an old guy.
Actually, you're right about it being a strat. G&L was the last company Leo Fender worked for before he passed away. He took the Stratocaster as well as some other classic Fender instruments, further refined them in terms of electronics, hardware, and other design elements, and put them into production under different model names since the 'Fender' company still owns the rights to the original models. Visually the most noticeable difference is that little barbed visual cue on the bottom headstock (which I really love). It's otherwise a hot-rodded Strat, through and through.
I love how she doesn't care about making the faces she needs to make to get that energy out!! I think it's kinda rare to see the artists express themselves like this, at least for me. You make any face you have to in order to get the results you want haha Love this song!!!
Just in case anyone ever wondered what King's X would sound like with Grace Slick on the mic, still, Screaming Females are no less original with their approach.
tight af band....but where's the song? i can't tell the verse from chorus it's like a run-on sentence in the form of a mack truck. cool. just not for me i guess.
This should be the most famous band around right now.
Just shows how fucked the music industry is that they aren’t. If Nirvana came out now they would release Nevermind and still be under the radar.
Agreed 💯
This is one of the best bands out there right now and Marissa is the greatest guitarist/songwriter alive
punk was reborn as her
ye
Fucking truth

Blows the studio version out of the water. By the time the second verse rolls around, Marissa is just on fire.

I could understand how some people might not like her voice, because it's so idiosyncratic, but I love it - it resonates in my head.
Don't worry, America's youth are doing just fine, Thank you.
She is soooo amazing *w*
Her voice is great love their music
now this is the real deal! A headline band in the making here! Brilliant!!!

Damn, these guys are great, where the fuck have I been?
It still hurts. 😢

I was in love with Marisa in 7th grade 😂
Had they turned up in New York mid 70's, they would ve been as well known as any CBGB's band

BEST 3 PC IN THE WORLD
I fucking love Marissa's vocal and lead guitar style. XOXO, Marissa -Your #1 stalker.
Sounds like 70s band Budgie. Melt the ice away
Mark Tremonti guitarist of the decade...my ass.
Amtliche Zerre auf den Brettern.
This Song Makes Me An Empty Head.
a rough diamond she is
would be cool if she covered suburban lawns
wipers86 nigga what
That would be fun, like Janitor Anything, and Unable - some great songs
sounds like a siamese dream
Black Sabbath
Just in case anyone ever wondered what King's X would sound like with Grace Slick on the mic, still, Screaming Females are no less original with their approach.
Marissa is like Joan Jett + Jimi Hendrix
mystery
Makes me think of Nirvana. No knowledge of music theory and just play some chords. In what key is this song? No fucking clue.
tight af band....but where's the song? i can't tell the verse from chorus
