Spec Racer feels awesome, surprises me that you never tried it during the SCCA runoff’s
SRF community is without doubt one of the best and non toxic on iRacing. European SOF takes place every Thursday evening (usually the two evening slots). Would be great to see you there (you will be surprised of the driver pedigree me thinks).
Dave you should drive the strength of field race for the Spec Racer. It's great racing. Also check out the hosted Fauxspeed practice sessions on Sunday and Monday nights.
Glad you're a fan of the spec racer. We aren't that many but that sort of makes it better sometimes ;)
They must have changed something cause I use to hate these cars. Radical was a much better car to drive
back in 2021 they updated the car to its irl Gen 3 specs
Before I start watching Thanks for the videos !! I'm really surprised you never tried this Ford. I did my first race at Laguna debuting my D license got pole and 1st place. Such a enjoyable car
This car is BRUTAL but if you drive it a while you get soooo good at threshold braking (just going to die a few times learning) I'm glad I stumbled into it early on in my iRacing career
The Spec Racer Ford and the Skippy are my two favorite cars on the platform...

I couldn't get used to the changed gearbox and engine when they changed it, I loved the old version really making those tires scream around corners

@@theslybaconirl it used to be start from the back, no qualifying. and a backwards name to differentiate from Dave who qualified first.
I've only been playing iRacing for a few weeks. I didn't like the Spec Racer Ford very much until I drove it on the Nordschleife. I liked it quite a lot there. Probably because I remembered the Cadillac CTS from the previous week too well 😉.
Finally.... I drove the older version of the Spec Racer, it was difficult to drive. The car really teaches you how to drive and not be surprised...
I hesitantly jumped in this car/track combo because I love the Ring. This car was nothing like I remember too. It was a nice surprise.
Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way about the Spec Racer. I remember trying it out a couple years back and not thinking highly about it and moved on. I tried it on the Ring earlier this week and really enjoyed it! Where you got your 1x is where I almost always get a 1x at the Ring, I don't know why I can't get that stupid bit right. Also, mad respect for a 7:46 without draft!
Maybe the car's physics model was updated and improved, or maybe you've become a better driver?
Actually had a perfect race myself last night in the dirt non-wing micro sprint :p Didn't think I had a chance in hell at qualifying on pole like I did, let alone winning the race, but I'll take it :D Took the lead and ran away with it

Well, it's a underpowered, the gearing feels always a bit off and it understeers like crazy.
SRF is great after the updates a few years ago. I decided to make it my main series this season. Easy to oversteer and spin out if you are on the brakes too hard before a turn and heat up the tires...or hit a curb.
Apex This league is using it for their Tuesday night races this season also.

I tried this the other night and I loved it, what a crazy combo.
I find my self getting too happy when the person right in front or behind me spins, I usually say something out loud to myself that I immediately say I shouldn’t have said that what if it happened to me.
This is a great car, I always raced because it is free. The only thing is a bit tail happy on the brakes.
I just love everytime you ask: "Is everybody alright?" eheh
I though the same thing when I tried it. one thing i felt was sometimes the brake feels like a sponge and locks up easily and on the other hand the brakes would feel great
I raced it in the combined ring there and loved it. Not super fast but man can you really use all of its power almost all of the time
I agree. The Spec Racer is one of my favorites.
My first win in iRacing was with the Spec Racer on Laguna Seca

I try and match my wheel to whatever type it has in the sim. Although, I know this wasn't really the case in this race :)
Hello Dave, tell me, how many times have you driven on the Nordschleife? 73 curves, just remembering where each curve can be driven with which car is pretty crazy.
Surprisingly, the braking markers and turn in points are very similar no matter what car you're in :)

The SRF has a huge league that runs every Sunday, so you’ll typically see the same guys in the official series, too. Probably why the SOF was so high here!
Race is in ~3 hours if you want to be added to the league! Broadcasted, 3 classes on track and around 50 cars on the bigger tracks

the only issue with this car.... its on Iracing :(
