51 now ...still sounds as good as it did back in the late 80s sure miss this time and era these times were great times 18 and up clubs back then dancing clove cigarettes , wine coolers , doc martens lol people were fun and this was all new 🤪
Care to spare some names of notable releases? New Beat is BTW still made by like a dozen producers, but the movement is way too spread around Europe to become organized into regular scene.
@@thebarbaryghostsf Thanks for the list, have no spotify so am checking them on YT. Some definitely is similar to New Beat (Mascarpone - Nightmare Theory) but other makes me think more on Goa Trance/Industrial Techno (Matteo Tura - Cat Noir). I've only listened to two tracks so far, interesting & thanks for the playlist!
New Beat was mishmash of everything best 80s West European club scene had to offer. It faded away because most listeners were worn down exactly because of that sound. Today it sounds fresh again for new generations who were only familiar with 80s mainstream music.
Quite possible, New Beat producers took influences of best stuff 80s music had to offer, including New Wave. Some of them were even ex-members of Synthpop bands. Which specific DM tracks are you reffering to?
Yes, it sounds like instrumental Depeche Mode or Camouflage. "The Great Commandment" by Camouflage or "The Telephone Call" by Kraftwerk are both very close to this style of music.

New Beat is back kids! Check out the newer EDSM music style. It's like New Beat created by Synthwave producers!
