Growing up in New Orleans, I loved going to the Musee Conti! I remember the commercial for it that ran on TV! If memory serves, The Phantom of the Opera seemed to be modeled after Jimmy Cagney as Lon Chaney Sr. In the biopic THE MAN OF A THOUSAND FACES, which was also featured on the box art of the classic Phantom model kit by Aurora.
I love love your trips to Wax Musuems. I didnt realize how fun they were until I started watching you. Now when im visting a city Im always looking for one. 😊
There are so many places along the Great River Road that you haven't been, with loads of history and some beautiful views (especially in the fall). You should do this one for sure.
Another great video, thank you for making us feel like we were right there with you! I love wax museums, the more old school the better! 😉🤩 Here in Iowa, there is a very nice Mississippi River Museum located in Dubuque. It highlights all the different sections of the Mississippi River, through aquariums, displays and exhibits. I found it so interesting how diverse the ecosystem of the River was depending on which section you were. If you haven't visited it, I think it would be worth your time! 😊 if you make it up this way, there is also the University of Iowa Natural History Museum, not too far from Dubuque, in Iowa City. It is the second oldest museum west of the Mississippi and is home to the century old Laysan Island Cyclorama display.
Hey you guys... coming to you live lol thanks for sharing Jacob, love your museum like always there your best ones to see and do. You take care, I guess Jenny Penny went back to here place to relax and feel better. 🤔
Love your museum tours they are so great! Ok, my question: Did you do a U-Turn and head back Northwest to Tulsa since Casa Bonita Re-opened. I so hope so because with its history and how long it took to re-opened, I would do the carpetbagger boot scootin boogie and go!!! Keep up the great work!!
I had no idea about this either, so happy to see the Musée Conti reborn!! Great find, and props to the Great River Road Museum! I have been hoping the National Steinbeck Museum got a hold of the Steinbeck’s Spirit of Monterey Wax Museum figures and can similarly incorporate them.
HEY,.. JACOB Well I was never a big Wax Museum Person but after You going to so many different Types of wax museum I've kind Of Turned into a Part time enjoyer Of theses places Now Thanks ?💩💩🙈🙉🙊
Speaking of civil war surgeries. There’s a story that my great great grandfather was in the union army in Sherman’s March and his foot got injured. They were going to amputate his foot but he pointed a gun at the doctor and refused to let him amputate the foot. He lived to old age with a lame foot, but a foot nonetheless! (It’s lucky he didn’t get an infection honestly or I might not be here today!)
There are more Louisiana Museums such as Biedenharn Museum and Gardens, North Louisiana Military Museum, National WWII Museum, Northeast Louisiana Children's Museum, Louisiana State Oil and Gas Museum, Sci-Port Science Center, Kentwood Museum, and Chennault Aviation and Military Museum.
Wanted to tell Caretbagger that a theme park will open in Vinita Oklahoma in 2025 called The American Heartland Theme Park. You'll need to check it out when it opens.
Jacob, I just watched an old video of Yours...You were at Paradise Gardens 🤩🌟🌟🌟🌟 it is an amazing place 💗 is it still there and can You visit it again sometime?🤞😺💖 Thank You for what You do 🙏💝 I think You are the best vlogger ever ❣️🥇😻
I think around when the museum closed, some of the figures were acquired by a company that's been trying to get the Six Flags property-that obviously hasn't happened
I grew up in NOLA in the 70s and the Quarter was a favorite haunt. It's like seeing old friends again! Although, you can't hide Mdme LaLaurie's evil! 😂
My family is from NO. I’m a Landry. Lots of Landry’s there. My uncle worked in a haunted hotel in the French Quarter, and I got to stay in one of the rooms. Very spooky. This was back in the 80s. It’s a much different place now than it was then.
Interesting to learn more about the history of what a "carpetbagger" is. If I remember, I think one of the bad guys used the term "carpetbagger" as an insult in the Jack Reacher show as well.
It kinda is a negative slang that jacob adopted in a better way. The og carpetbaggers moved from the north to the south after the civil war to sell people stuff out of their carpet bags and take advantage, so they say, of the people who lost everything in the war.
I would love to see you on a Great River Road trip. Probably best to do it in late spring or early fall. Going all the way down the Mississippi has been a bucket list item of mine since I was a kid , probably due to the fact I read Tom Sawyer at a very impressionable age.
With all the Ca Ca and Poo Poo and urine on these boats from all those bodies ..The Captain and Crew were very Strong People .They nose hairs must have been curled ..I worked for the Morgue transporting bodies ..Many of times I jumped out of my van and puked

The wax figures are really nice, they have good expressions on their faces.

Very bizarre how they repurposed the wax figures 😮😮😮😮😮
Right?! I actually thought Lalaurie was a prostitute. I was thinking, “We’ll that must be awkward for the man laying there dying.” 🤣

So what happened to the Wax Monsters from the Doungen part of the Conti Wax Museum??
Interesting museum.
Wanted to tell Caretbagger that a theme park will open in Vinita Oklahoma in 2025 called The American Heartland Theme Park. You'll need to check it out when it opens.
Yes, I thought this new park sounded amazing - but wonder if it will really happen, or not.
Lmao, that guy was your twin he just needed some pins on his hat
You'd be a mad buffalo too if you were on a wall in a museum. LOL
Aurora Illinois,😎let's go Mr carpetbagger 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🦖🦖🎃🍕
Interesting history, obviously horrible related to slavery. Thanks for sharing Jacob.
The second guy at the helm is probably Paul Robeson . . . singer of Ole Man River

Hi Jacob, another fab video although it's Edward the eighth not the seventh! But he didn't reign for very long so an easy mistake to make! ❤
15:15 man's first photoception
Hey Jacob! How are you?😊
That other figure could be a younger version of Mark Twain, or called by his real name Samuel Clemens
Have you tried the Limi Intense Haunted House in St. Louis.?
Jacob I look up the word Mark Twain it is a word for measuring water-He was creative man and a good story teller.
The new hat is fairly wide-brimmed
