You should try a combo of the shotgun revovler and the teleport knife like when you teleport to someone you take out the shotgun revolver and shot them
Shovel and Shotgun are not a bad setup, their only bad depending on what map your on. The wider of the map the more your disadvantage, shovel’s normal based swing is faster than claymore/Half-Zatoichi since Claymore/Half-Zatoichi normal based swing is slower than shovel cuz of the hidden ability it has. Shotgun rev is effective to use on some spot of the map such as entrance or a small hallway.

i didnt know kat has tf2 related knives like the golden wrench (australium) and the shovel (that soldier uses) also the funny part soldier uses shovel as a melee (no throwing)

the craziest thing happened to me today in KAT. so I pretended to be poor and then I equipped the starter gun and knife. Then I killed the highest level in the server and her level was 568. I killed her with the starter things like 5 times. And she only killed me once. Then she got so mad she started insulting me. Then she copied my setup. But I still killed her. She was targeting me a lot lol, at first she killed me again and then after like 4 kills she got so mad that at the lobby she just stood there and then she left LOL!
Ironically that is my loadout half of the time, Use the revolver to kill people I can't kill with the katana and keep the katana in my hands once I get a kill with me
Heres a funny video challenge: try to get 10 kill streak with tge katana without putting it away, you get faster with the katana as you kill more ppl with it so itll be pretty interesting
the worst gun in kat is literally the luger its so slow and it has a chamber animation when u get it out so u cant just shoot them when u miss your knife
Any sword just has to be the worst setup imo, no range, you most likely won't get any kill unless you chase and spam jump untill you reach who you want to kill, and you are dependant on your gun for long range kills (which I doubt you hit if you are using sword) edit: setup 2 isn't bad (apart from shotgun revolver, that's garbage), it's just ugly really
ya explosive knife is the best in my opinion, apart from ofc the beams (but they dont give gems). u can trick ppl with this effect, many ppl also call it cheating lol. mainly what i do is make my opponent follow me for melee, and then i throw the knife in the ground in front of him/her, the explosion triggers... and boom, they are ded. u can also get many multiple kills with this.

i have around 3600 kills on my shovel, so i can confirm
shovel is the best on castle2. i sometimes grind shovel kills for hours, and i have around 5k kills on it
Just bought usps it’s actually overpowered if you can hit headshots because it’s slilenced and you can get 2 gems if you headshot before they die

If you aren't going melee only, Claymore is definitely better however if you want to do a demoknight tf2, zatoichi is better
