🌷✝️🌷 We have Jesus Christ as a Holy Intercessor with a permanent Priesthood to go before God on our behalf and to meet our needs! Hebrews 4: 14-16 Hebrews 7: 24-26 "I Need Thee Every Hour", written in 1872 by Annie S. Hawks ; music by Robert Lowry in 1873....a very dear hymn that I have been singing for over 60 years in my church. Many of the hymns of great Faith are so timeless, we'll be singing them for centuries...Praise the Lord! 🎼🎶🦋
✝️🎼🎶 About this hymn, "I Need Thee Every Hour"...The lyricist, Annie Sherwood, began writing poetry at age 14. After her marriage to Charles Hawks and becoming a mother of three, they joined a ministry to which Dr. Robert Lowry belonged in Brooklyn, NY. At his encouragement Annie wrote Christian children's songs. He wrote music for her songs. One June morning in 1872 as Annie Hawks did her usual house chores, she suddenly felt the nearness of the Lord in a very palpable way. She wondered how anyone could live without the Lord close in their life. She penned this hymn immediately. Sixteen years later her beloved Charles died. The hymn gave her powerful comfort. She went on to write 400+ hymns in her 83 years of life. This hymn is her most widely sung hymn. 🦋 To me it's a joy to learn why our hymns come to life ....I enjoy the research!
