  • Our first day at the National Farm Machinery Show. We checked out some of the bigger brand names including Agco, John Deere, and Case. The trip down was stressful because of poor road conditions but we made it!
Welcome to Sonne Farms! On this channel we showcase numerous jobs a Corn/Soybean/Beef producing operation takes on each day. Hop in the cab or sorting alley with Cole, Brian, or Jeff, and see how life really is for the people that help feed the US and the rest of the world. In addition to Corn, Soy, and Cattle, Sonne Farms puts up grass and alfalfa and sells pure bred Black Angus Bulls.

Fascinating. There’s a whole world of farm equipment I didn’t know existed. I’m just a dumb city guy. Loved it 🤘

I remember when I was 7 or 8 my grandpa took me to a tractor show like this in Michigan. He was shopping around when at one of the displays (indoors), he took out his own tractor key and started the floor model up. We almost got kicked out of the show lol. Thats how he taught me that at the time, John Deere used pretty much only one key for everything lmao

I looked on line at the Vermeer ZR5 Self Propelled Baler and the price range is from $253,000 to $259,000. I wonder where the break over point is on how many bales you have to sell per year to profit enough to afford a piece of equipment that only has one function? At a ball park price of a hundred dollars a bale for large bales of Alfalfa, that's 2530 bales for just the cost of the baler. At an unrealistic rate of 70 bales per hour, you could feasible get your money back after only 37 hours if you were baling only premium grade hay all day........if you don't have to pay rent on the land, use slave labor and have an oil well in your back yard that produces diesel fuel that this thing will run on!

Cole, very interesting video. It was good to meet your friends. You can just tell they are quality guys. That is not a surprise - "birds of a feather flock together." You never show anything about Brookings and very shortly that will not be an option - graduation will be coming a lot quicker than you realize. Maybe work in a little more about SDSU and Brookings. I think your viewers would be interested.

Maybe a good thing that you had to cancel your credit card Cole. That was some expensive equipment y'all were looking at like the Vermeer ZR5 Self Propelled Baler. I had memory flash backs on the many moving parts of a square baler and what it costs back in the 60's. But I also used to think that there was no way that a machine could pick cotton, so what do I know? I enjoyed meeting your friends and your questions to the reps were insightful making this an informative video. Thanks.

Next time you pay at the pump try pulling on the credit card receptacle. Scammers are tricky, they put a their card reader over the gas stations reader..
