Great question! If the bottom half of the engine is misaligned with the upper part the engine won’t run in sync. If you have a car where the piston and valve can hit each other (interfering engine) the piston will hit the valve and bend it and/ or damage the upper part of the engine. So basically if you don’t pay attention to how the engine is synced you will in worse case paying a lot of money for rebuilding the engine. I hope that answers your question!
