Here’s a little information about the band, and yes they’re brothers and sisters; Samuel Cristea (born March 21, 1999) - lead guitar, backing vocals, violin Abigail Cristea (born February 24, 2000) - drums, accordion Melody Cristea (born December 27, 2001) - vocals, bass, flute Ethan Cristea (born August 24, 2006) - bass, additional rhythm guitar Justin Cristea (born October 27, 2007) - keyboard This is probably their earliest video as Liliac, when they were even younger they did some pop music videos but as the kids hit their teen years they switched to metal/rock and changed their name from the Cristea’s to Liliac. Their parents didn’t want them sitting around playing video games all weekend so they encouraged them to learn music instruments…this is the result of the kids own dedication to becoming excellent musicians. Their parents were born in Romania, their dad in the Transylvania region so they picked the Romanian word for bat, more specifically vampire bat and that is liliac. They released three albums of covers while beginning to write their own music and now have released four albums of original music. They are independent, their dad manages them. He’s been in the music industry a long time as a producer. Melody has a really unusual voice and her range is incredible, she can hit whistle notes with ease. I suggest progressing through the years of their discography to see how they’ve grown musically and and into young adulthood. Some of their live performances of their original music like Mars (live in Cummings, GA), Not Afraid (extended version), Master of Puppets featuring Aiden Fisher are amazing! Covers of Paranoid, Holy Diver, Heaven and Hell, Sympathy of Destruction, The Trooper, a real must watch! Other originals, Dear Father, We Are the Children, Chain of Thorns, Sail Away, Carousel, Madness, Rise Up, Breathe, Delusion…all great. BTW musicians enter a lottery every week to play on the Santa Monica Pier. Vinnie Appice and Stewart Copeland (the Police) are big fans.
FANG LIFE FOREVER! Just finding these guys means you have missed some great music. They are all grown up now and their original music is AWESOME! Gotta watch their Master of Puppets cover without a doubt!!
These guys are very good, I took my daughter to see them on her 10th birthday, sam the lead is outstanding on guitar. She doesn't play bass anymore, seriously they are great. Their original stuff is outstanding.
This was when they were still finding their way . They now have a large variety of originals and covers that are all fantastic ! They have some great live videos out the latest being Anxiety Kills the Beautiful . If you want a good idea of Melody's range try Not Afraid extended version . And Mars live showcase's Sam's guitar work . No one does better Dio covers . They did The Last in Line for the Dio cancer benefit at the request of Wendy Dio . A mind blowing amount of talent !
Hello my new young friends. Welcome to the World of Liliac! This is much younger Liliac. What I love about this video is it shows you how hard they worked on the Santa Monica pier for 5 years every weekend. Ethan, rhythm guitar, transitioned to bass in 2019. I saw them live in Spokane last August. Meet the kids and Papa Liliac and heard a fantastic performance. They still do some of their covers, take a little liberties like she did singing with Batio-Appice-Sarzo-Cristea in GoDpsLive app. MeloDia found DIO at age 15. Her main inspiration is RJD. Liliac also has 2 full albums and their first was an EP of all originals. They are fully independent. Hope to see more. Liked the reaction. Peace. Stay safe. God Speed. FANG LIFE! RORH 🍻🤘❤️🦇
Just found your channel because you reacted to my second favorite band of all time, Liliac, and I subscribed because you truly get into the music you are healing! They are incredible. Two originals I suggest are Carousel and Dear Father. Two covers I suggest are Heaven and Hell and Seven Nations Army! Thank you for reacting to Liliac.
This was so long ago, they are much better now. They stay true to the original when doing a cover, except for Seven Nation Army. They put the metal to it. They are showing a lot of diversity in their new original music and I really enjoy "what's next" it's always great. Definitely hitting the sub button.
They really killed it there. But my favorite part of that video was the crowd. Most of them standing around, just not really knowing what to do with themselves in the face of this awesome metal being played in front of em... And then there's the people just into it! Dancing, head banging, having a heck of a good time. Hell yeah. But on a side note. When I saw Liliac, my sleepy brain went "Purple? Like... Prince? Is this going to be a Prince version of Crazy Train?" And now I really wanna know what that would sound like...
I read somewhere, that gentleman in blue suit and sunclases heavy headbanging, is Steward Copeland from band Police. I know he has supported Liliac in their music career.
Lilliac is great, you can’t go wrong with checking out all their early stuff, was all covers then. Then they moved to making their own music later on, all is pretty great.
Sam is the lead guitarist he now is sponsored by Sawtooth guitars. They have even created his signature guitar. He also does all video editing. They are independent and do everything themselves.
Sam/Samuel is the oldest and is the lead guitarist here. He's currently the band's only guitarist and is learning to play violin. Aby/Abigail is the second oldest and plays the drums. I believe she has officially left the band (although I hope I'm wrong because everyone loves her and she's damn good) after getting married and getting pregnant. Melody is the middle child and is the vocalist and bass player here. She has stopped playing the bass for the band even though she was pretty band good, and she's learning/teaching herself to play flute. Ethan is the fourth oldest and plays rhythm guitar here, though he's now the band's bass player. Justin is the youngest of the five and plays keyboards and keytar. He also just got his driver's license. This is a damn good cover, but they have a lot of originals, too. "Carousel," "Not Afraid," "Sail Away," and "Nothing" are my favorites. My favorite covers of theirs are Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell" and their rearrangement of "Seven Nation Army" are my favorites there. I saw them in October 2023 when their were playing with a talented touring drummer named Alexa Rae. It was a great time. I got right in front of Sam and Melody and got a wave from Melody when she saw me singing along with "Dear Father." The band's father, known as Papa Liliac, gave me some merch after the show. Super nice guy, great family, kickass band. Also, Sam post an Instagram pic of him at some festival talking with Ale and Dany from The Warning.
Love the heartfelt reaction to this independent band made of Cristian siblings being guided by their loving Romanian immigrant parents. Starting out in the Los Angeles area and now live near Atlanta, LILIAC has been touring late winter through fall the last five years. Older sister Abigail the last year and a half has been missing some of the touring due to marriage and now a bun in the oven. Enjoyment guaranteed in any cover or original with every video and performance all done in house by the family while playing multiple instruments and wearing many hats. Simply amazing family, LILIAC ROCKS!
This was in 2018! They used to busk on the Santa Monica pier! Their ages in this video are: Samuel (Lead guitar-19), Abigail(drums-18), Melody(Vocals-16) Ethan(Rhythm guitar-12) and Justin(Keyboards-11)
They began attracting such large crowds they were asked not to come there anymore! Their covers are awesome, and they now have many originals. Five brothers and sisters that rock out! They cover Metallica's "Enter Sandman" spot on! Also check out "Rainbow in the Dark", a Dio family approved cover!
Glad you did a Liliac reaction! So many great covers and originals. Talented family and Melody has a unique voice that I just haven't heard before! It only gets better! If you play more Lilac reactions, their fans (fangs) will subscribe! And there are thousands of them! Great reaction!
I love this family band that refuses to be put in a box but maintains their independence both as their own free agents with no control from a record/production company and in their choice of material and genre/style of music. They have both amazing covers and originals. If you want to hear Melody do some amazing 'whistle screams' then watch their video, "Not Afraid" the extended version. If you want to hear an amazing ballad then watch their song, "Sail Away". They have a wonderful catalog on TH-cam and my favorite is usually the last song I listened to. To see more of Sam's guitar work up close and personal, then I suggest you watch their video of "Mars" live from Cumming, Georgia. Anyway you look at them, there is just an insane amount of talent there when they take the stage or go into the studio. Thanks for the reaction and of course I would love to see you do a lot more 'Liliac'. New Subscriber.
Owe you two crazy kids you, I left you two videos to react in the message when I bought the coffee. “ Anxiety killed the beautiful”. That’s the latest from Liliac live from Rockfest 2024.

That photo was at Rocklahoma festival this summer. Unfortunately The Warning got rained out and didn't get to do their set that day.
They are a bit older now and do write their own stuff. But they recently did a cover of Heaven and Hell. You should check that out next. Awesome.
This was like 6 years ago. The group has gone on to do a couple of their own albums now with original content. Check it out it's pretty good.
