I attended this gig and it rained all day and night.. these guys like every other artist on Sunday SMASHED IT, The Sunday audience couldn’t get enough of Radio 2 in the park at Preston. Amazing day
New listener to Manic Street Preachers and this song when I watched it on BBC red button was so groovy and the song is so bouncy and the rift sounds amazing😁🎶🎸
@@LanesraVekAs a fan yes his voice has been in decline since 2011. However JDB’s guitar playing has always been top notch. My reason for the voice decline is most likely down to smoking and heavy touring. They’ve never really taken a break from touring since they formed.
@underneonloneliness2 listened in car this morning thought it was painful, but just watched it back on tv and i was harsh so deleted my comment. Most of the song he sings ok tbh just certain parts he goes out of tune Maybe 7am was too early for it 😂
One of the standout unique rock tracks of that era, and that's really some achievement to stand out from the pack. James Dean Bradfield is the spine of the Manics and always has been in my opinion. My favourite version of the song has always been the Glastonbury 2003 performance. Check that out if you haven't Folks 👍🏼🎸
when they released this they had a video shot in Yokohama, I think I was 16 and living in Wrexham - as it happened i ended up living in Yokohama for 20 years
Both things can be true at the same time. One man can shit in his pants and the other can do a heavy fart. They both stink. The fact that you have to insult someone completely unrelated to justify your point sort of proves a point. This is objectively dreadful.
Can answer this for you: both used to be great singers, now their voices are shadows of what they were previously. That's fine and that's life, but it's not great to pay a fortune to see them. Like watching a footballer well past their best. Can be quite sad
For me, this an absolute treat to watch. I 1st found manic Street preachers, when a song was remixed and was the western opening theme for gran Turismo 1. I then later found this song, in a daria fanfiction, that in my opinion is one of the absolute best written fanfiction.
I was there Sunday. The rain never stopped from getting on site to leaving. The facilities where fantastic, the ground got swamped ,the audience where EPIC .. everyone was wet through to their underwear but they were where all delighted with the amazing event. Epic crowd.
That’s harsh regarding his voice No singer ever can stay the same as they were when they were twenty years younger. And it was a cold damp day which will have definitely had a negative impact on his voice
Jesus Christ. Here we go. Mr judgemental Is here. Considering his age and the cold wet conditions I think he sounded pretty dam good. And so did the audience who were actually there
@@christopherwhittaker2620 Please don't be mad. I just feel more emotion by the studio version of this song than this live version. Maybe in another place and time he sings this song very good. I have that a lot, not only by the Manics. I love the studio versions almost always more than live versions. That's just me, sorry.
have to admit, I've heard James have a better guitar tone than that before. Sounds too much like an angry wasp in a jam jar. Time's caught up with Sean as well by the look of it!
Jesus Christ. There’s always one isn’t there. And here you are. Everyone I know who was actually at the gig said the maniacs sounded amazing considering the wet cold conditions. Sometimes it’s the recording of the sound that makes them sound nothing like they sounded if you was actually there.
Exactly he wasn’t at his tip top best. Maybe the very cold and wet conditions had a negative impact on his voice. But I still think he sounded decent. People are way to overly critical
One of the BEST BANDS of ALL TIME
Theyve got a bunch of great songs. Top front man.
One of the best songs ever for me. That guitar rift, damn.
I feel the same. That guitar riff never ever gets old and I just love it.
It's Sweet Child meets Every Day Is Sunday
Not just my favourite Manics song but one of my top 5 songs of all time
It’s on every mix tape and playlist I’ve ever made. I absolutely love that song. It never gets old.
What a tune, what a band. I’ve been listening to this song for almost 20 years and it’s still amazing.
JDB is so underated as a guitarist.
The guitar blasting through the park was fabulous, the singing from everyone was epic
I attended this gig and it rained all day and night.. these guys like every other artist on Sunday SMASHED IT, The Sunday audience couldn’t get enough of Radio 2 in the park at Preston. Amazing day
I’m so impressed by all the bands and the audience on that Sunday for not letting the rain dampen the day / night.
Absolutely fantastic to see
It always rains in Preston. They call it DePreston.

They getting old....but musicaly...even better...and better...love it....Nicki...sean...and james dean...great....greets from germany Dirk
The Ferris wheel and the umbrellas make it look like the Motorcycle Emptiness video from 1991.
One of the best guitarists of the last 30/40 years
Nope. I love the Manics, but you can't call him one of the best guitarists.
@@stevenhearnden6103 for real?? How so?
@@stevenhearnden6103 He is! That unique Vibrato he does, no other guitarist does it as good!
Great player/songwriter and singer.
@tonycole9851 Really? "Design for life" was pretty big, "You stole the sun....."
"If you tolerate....." All co written by JDB.
Beautiful lads!!
All heart &soul

i AM REALLY AMAZED WITH THIS SONG... THANKS FOR MAKING GOOD MUSIC.
Some vocal man & absolute tune
Always been a top song - still banging it out all these years later !
👍🏻

Posso ascoltarla a ripetizione: mi emoziona sempre (chills, every time)
Spent most of Sunday going..."when's the Manics on?!" and checking 601 for the timings. Great bunch of bands on this festival. Cracker of a tune...
I like the sound. The sound makes me happy!
Love this band since 1992. Have been lucky to see them and meet them in July 1992, with Richey. JDB is a guitar hero
Fabulous! JBD looks amazing in red!
They are a great band and they have brilliant songs x

best set of the day
They have always been a great live band .
Fantastic.. well done boys ❤
Timeless
So good
Brilliant guitarist and vocalist, I don't see many people in their fifties giving it as much welly as 'wor James does playing live x
Exactly right 👍✌️
You can see he still feels every note, legend
great band
James Dean is a hero❤
I always look forward to how bradfield plays the outro live xx
what a band :)
Such a classic

Roy Keane's a far better drummer than I ever imagined.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂brilliant
I literally lolled
"That's his job" 🥁
A total choon!!!
Ine of the best, yet, under rated bands in the world
No way are the Manics underrated !
They are great !
Never fail to impress, seen them live 3 times and my Auntie lives in Blackwood where they grew up. 🤘
My Perfect Ringtone
Classic! ❤
Some great neck to bridge pickup switching going on in this banging tune. 👌
Great tone on that LP
Superb
Still sounding great JDB, love the MSP 🇦🇺🤘✊
excellent
Great live band
Só uma das melhores músicas de sempre!
People really be here saying JDB can't sing - when millions of people are desperate to hear Liam Gallagher shout and grunt for two hours.
Gallagher is a fantastic singer (I don’t mean to suggest JDB isn’t as well).

The two things can be true at the same time. Dont see how the plight of Liam Gallagher makes this any less dreadful.
JDB used to be great, really like Freddie Mercury, but the years have not been kind to he's voice.

I'll be real, the lineup for this Radio 2 event was levels above Glastonbury this year. Such a shame it seems like it rained all weekend!

Real RocknRollas...Earth Soul⚡Blues RocknRoll...
That'll do!
" Fantastic Band ♥ "
Roy Keane on the drums. Don't praise him, it's his job.
‘Keane is the heart and soul of this band. The big lanky fella on the bass needs to up his game. It’s embarrassing.”
Pmsl 🤣 spot on! Roy "When You Play For Man United...." Keane kicking it old-school on the kit like Giggsy and Denis Irwin 💪
An unusual move for them to have Roy Keane on drums, but it works.
Face of Singer since to be face of Andy guitar of Travis The Band. I want to see Manic Street Preacher and Travis together at 2025 singing together
Like to great band from Ukraine
When did the drummer stop looking like a school teacher
Go touch grass
I was there in Preston,Manics were awesome but everyone was soaked to the skin so not a lot of dancing
Roy Keane on drums 😅
The drummer needs to be shorn more.
Outstanding and underrated!
Sean looks unrecognisable while James and Nicky have barely aged!
Are they Preachers from Manic Street. Or Street Preachers who are Manic?
Manic Street Preachers
@@marcosparedes9249 thanks Marco.
Good question as, that would then depend on which word to stress
Manic Preachers who are Street(wise) 😊
Are you actually serious ? You don’t know what they are called ?
Wow.
Hey where is Richey Edwards?????
James is sounding a bit tired now. Gutair playing is still on form, i wonder if Richey is watching? Nicky atill looks cool as ice!

It's called live music. People have been polluted by autotuned/pitch corrected crap and now expect vocals to sound like K-pop bubble gum shite.
I Agree.It's live it's raw it'e amazing.
James envejeció bastante mal y solo tiene 55 años, parece un padre de familia cansado de su trabajo 🤣

The guitar is SUPER, but the vocals..........sorry. But maybe they should only bring out studio albums. This sounds not good, even though I love them.
