It really depends. Gatekeeping wheel specs or silly stuff like that is super dumb. Gatekeeping places to get certain parts keeps those parts affordable for people who scrounge and work to find them. I get what your saying but from my POV it allows me to afford nice stuff without the hype beast/tiktok trend premium.

As a 13+ year Miata owner,Tommy is absolutely right. The cars are decent. The owners are generally the worst. However with the cost skyrocketing for miatas that should help keep the riff raff away from them.

He keeps it real on builds and is trying to elevate the game which I respect a lot. I think he missed the mark on the gt3 "only" having 415 hp and why porsche guys like NA. You can't be serious right? Shops have been building them for 30 years. Japan has been making crazy power. Most shops won't turn away money. He gets machine work done on engines all the time. We see countless times that his builds don't run well without jack or Roberto touching them. He still needs to tune the engine and we see alot of the builds have issues. If people want to overspend to have a clean bay that's on them.

So, the setup on the green civic dx was a type r motor. New from Honda. New type r head milled 20 thousandths. Jdm type r trans with 4.78 final drive. Comp tech header. Car was tuned on hondata in Miami and made 185whp. Back then it was good power. Another local guy went 12.2 at 114mph in an all motor crx with that combo. (Gsr block, type r pistons, etc). Great memories though, was the beginning of the Honda game.

A manual 997.1 or 997.2 Carrera is the way to go! It’s got a ton of room for mods, not as costly to get into, and perform very well and are reliable when taken care of. Building one on my channel now!
Most wheel companies, including Japanese ones, buy blanks from the forgeries and then cut the blanks in-house, it's the same source and same material, that said, there are a lot of shitty wheels out there made from unforged material, that will bend in the best situation or break in the worst.
There's way more than 4 places that make true forged wheels APP makes forging in the USA and Italy. BBS, Motegi, Rays, Yokohama's Advan, and a bunch of other manufacturers that mainly work for contract and put whatever logo you want on them.

He's right about the price. Highest priced supras were around 50k. That wasn't all of them but still a ton of money. He's a bit biased towards gtr though. The chassis isn't what's making it hook in 1st, it's awd. As for fitting tires, you can fit 285/315 on a supra and thats standard supra fitment. My personal supra hooks 2nd with over 600whp also so idk why he thinks every supra on street tires just spins. To sum it up, the supra with stock v160 is the only synchro manual trans car to ever go 7s in the 1/4. And two supras did it. Supra has a better getrag than the 34(32 and 33 had the weak 5spd) and if we wanna talk chassis the supra is better built. The gtr is for sure more race bread and track oriented, but lets not downplay the fact that it's awd system is what set it apart. Otherwise the gtr would he a gtt with a little more spice and well, at that point were comparing a supra to a heavy s chassis lol. Speaking as someone in the market for a 33 gtr also. I want one even with the oil issues lol.
A supra chasis is not built better at all. It's a targa top and heavy. Supras don't handle well which is why he doesn't like it. It's not hard to cut up a car put a huge radial on it and have it hook. That's not fun to daily at all. There is more to building a car than drag racing. It's fun to be able to rip back roads go to a track or autocross.

Without even mentioning tires, Imagine building a car to drift, ordering whatever aero and wheels etc from Japan, painting it, just to more than likely have your aero explode, more than likely crash, having to replace susp arms, replacing hard to find body panels like jdm front ends, oem headlights, etc and having to do it all over again before the next event. Vs a drag race weekend which very rarely ends in a crash or having to replace your aero and getting a fresh paint job every season. Mind you this is at the grassroots level of drifting.

The legends were slow back in the day being stock because of Japans "gentleman agreement" all were limited to about 276hp to 290hp I believe.

So, the setup on the green civic dx was a type r motor. New from Honda. New type r head milled 20 thousandths. Jdm type r trans with 4.78 final drive. Comp tech header. Car was tuned on hondata in Miami and made 185whp. Back then it was good power. Another local guy went 12.2 at 114mph in an all motor crx with that combo. (Gsr block, type r pistons, etc). Great memories though, was the beginning of the Honda game.

He's right about the price. Highest priced supras were around 50k. That wasn't all of them but still a ton of money. He's a bit biased towards gtr though. The chassis isn't what's making it hook in 1st, it's awd. As for fitting tires, you can fit 285/315 on a supra and thats standard supra fitment. My personal supra hooks 2nd with over 600whp also so idk why he thinks every supra on street tires just spins. To sum it up, the supra with stock v160 is the only synchro manual trans car to ever go 7s in the 1/4. And two supras did it. Supra has a better getrag than the 34(32 and 33 had the weak 5spd) and if we wanna talk chassis the supra is better built. The gtr is for sure more race bread and track oriented, but lets not downplay the fact that it's awd system is what set it apart. Otherwise the gtr would he a gtt with a little more spice and well, at that point were comparing a supra to a heavy s chassis lol. Speaking as someone in the market for a 33 gtr also. I want one even with the oil issues lol.
A supra chasis is not built better at all. It's a targa top and heavy. Supras don't handle well which is why he doesn't like it. It's not hard to cut up a car put a huge radial on it and have it hook. That's not fun to daily at all. There is more to building a car than drag racing. It's fun to be able to rip back roads go to a track or autocross.

Without even mentioning tires, Imagine building a car to drift, ordering whatever aero and wheels etc from Japan, painting it, just to more than likely have your aero explode, more than likely crash, having to replace susp arms, replacing hard to find body panels like jdm front ends, oem headlights, etc and having to do it all over again before the next event. Vs a drag race weekend which very rarely ends in a crash or having to replace your aero and getting a fresh paint job every season. Mind you this is at the grassroots level of drifting.
That’s just one aspect, let alone the abuse on your drivetrain/engine, around 8k rpm’s for over 45 sec straight, clutch kicks, etc
