Omg! I never noticed the mic in your braid. That is SO GENIUS!! 🤯 I was also one that enjoyed a house at the bottom of the lake. I've heard good things about incidents around the house I love that you covered so many different genres and vibes all related to fall vibes! 😍 I hope the back to school time isn't too crazy for you!! 🤞
First of all, you are so adorable, and I love your shirt and earrings. Thank you for the shout out, friend! This line up of books is stellar! 👏I can't wait to get to Clown in a cornfield 3! 🤡 It watches us was just an average read for me, but I hope you love it. I really enjoyed the whispering dead. Another must read from Darcy Coates if you haven't read it already, is where he can't find you. It was so creepy and good! Fangs & Frenemies sounds fun. I love spooky middle grade, so you know I'm adding give me something good to eat to my list. I have had my eye on the October society for a while so I'm feeling like it's time to read it this Fall. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on these books!! 👻
Cozy mystery update from me- (you’re basically my cozies ambassador haha) I am finding that I really love cozy supernatural/paranormal mysteries. Nothing too extravagant re: the magic systems but I’m really enjoying the low stakes but fun spooky elements. WHO AM I?!!? 😂😂
You’ve created such a great list of cosy, spooky, and straight up scary books! I just read “incidents around the house” and it genuinely frightened me. You’ve got a treat ahead of you 💀🖤🖤
Adding so many to my TBR list! Fall is my favorite time of the year to read! Also, if you haven't read her books before I highly recommend Lindsay Currie and her middle grade spooky books! The audiobook versions are so fun to listen to!
Thank you for these suggestions! I can’t wait to try a few, I’m intrigued by cozy mysteries also and will probably give it a go next. Also I just finished the lady from the black lagoon, thanks for the videos suggesting it !
Oh my gosh I am so happy that you have Lady from the Black Lagoon a shot. I really hoped people would gravitate toward it because it’s such a great piece of historical work. I’ve been really enjoying my cozy mystery journey. I find that I love paranormal/supernatural ones the most!!
This was a fantastic video. You talked about so many books that I have not heard of before, but they are definitely going to go on my TBR. Have a great weekend, Lauren.
I’m so happy that this video was able to serve you well this spooky season. I’m always trying to highlight underrated or different media than what’s typically being talked about. I had so much fun hunting down these Halloween books!!
This looks like a wonderful stack of books to dive into! I read Greetings From Moon Hill a few years ago and enjoyed it! I'm hoping to get to Autumncrow this spooky season too 🎃
Always looking for fall and spooky season book recs so this is perfect! Rachel Harrison is my favorite horror author, so I am so looking forward to her new book.
ooh, thanks for reminding me about that Jeff Strand book! Quite a few new-to-me books in this list! I also want to give cozy mysteries a try this season. Great list!
Amazing TBR, Lauren!!!! EEEE I added so many to mine too hahaha - thank you! My fall TBR is out of control hahaha but I like having a big pile to choose from at least!
I have a few of these on my TBR and I’ve now added a few more. Haha. Fangs and Frenemies sounds fun! It’s reminding me of the Stay a Spell series by Juliette Cross. I had so much fun with that one! Wonder if they’re related! OMG! I can’t wait for So Thirsty! Autumncrow is one of my favorites. So good! Great video as always! 🎃
Exact same thoughts with Lucy Undying. I loved A Dowry of Blood, and will give Lucy Undying a go. The cover is gorgeous also! I have struggled with White’s adult novels, but absolutely love her juvenile and middle grade stuff.
I ran to Libby to place a hold on The Pumpkin Spice Cafe as soon as you mentioned it 😅 I had my eye on it for a while but you just convinced me to finally read it. This is an amazing list of recs, I’ll be adding a lot of these to my tbr 📝
Oh so many good suggestions! I haven’t officially made a TBR, but oh gosh my mom just sent me a photo of the Lazy Bones Bookstore book and found it at a local to her bookstore and it sounded amazing!
FALL VIDEO FROM HAPPY HAUNTS LETS GOOOOO 🗣 Yes!! I want to read Pumpkin Spice Café soooo bad!! Literally same for the cover. i never even watched Gilmore girls lmao. Carmilla the First Vampire YAAAS. I neeeed the 2nd one. My library has not yet acquired it yet :( tea I heard Incidents Around the House was "the scariest book of this year" (according to tiktok.) SO THIRSTYYYY YESSSS. I'm dancing rn thinking about this book 8:02 eww this cover is giving ME arachnophobia. I need to read TY for the spooky ooky recs 🙏🥰😍
I need a reading update from you. I haven’t heard in a minute what you’ve been reading. Have I told you I’m currently reading Pumpkin Spice and Poltergeist?? I wanna live in the town 😫
The cover of It Watches in the Dark is stunning. I need that Carmilla graphic novel. It's so pretty! I pre-ordered So Thirsty and cannot wait to read it. Rachel Harrison writes such authentic and relatable women characters. Spooky Kind of Love sounds so good. I absolutely adored Wendy Dalrymple's My Halloween Romance (and I am NOT a romance reader . . . LOL) I had no idea she had another Halloween-themed romance. Thanks for putting it on my radar! So many great recommendations in so many genres. Great video!
I have more books to add to my fall TBR, my birthday is in a couple of weeks and I’m trying to come up with a list of books I’m going to spoil myself with! After you read Autumncrow you have to read Autumncrow: Fresh Hell! It was amazing, 90’s horror vibes and I loved every page! 🖤🎃
Honestly, middle grade horror has been killing it. That cover alone would make me pick up It Watches in the Dark!🎃Hide was so fun and I liked how there were actual stakes for each character. I'm still confused why people disliked it so intensely 🎡The books I'm most excited for this fall are The Secret History of the Jersey Devil, The Pine Barrens' Devil, and The Thursday Murder Club (a cozy mystery so might be of interest!) I also have a lot of J and YA on my reading list like All the Lovely Bad Ones, Doll Bones, and some from the Creepover series. Really looking forward to all of these!👻
I bought Autumncrow High Fresh Hell at the end of last year and I've been waiting until the first day of fall to read it 🎃 I'm also going to reread Strange Practice now that I have the other two books in the trilogy. I also got the first Mina book so I can't wait to dive into that trilogy as well! Side note: I really enjoyed Hide as well! I ended up DNF'ing Incidents Around the House but I hope you like it!
OK, so I finished incident around the house and it really felt like he wrote himself into a corner that he could not get out of 😂 I don’t think you missed much! And the ending was super predictable. What made you not finish it?
A few on My list are Invocations by Krystal Sutherland, The Love of my After Life by Kristy Greenwood, Be Careful What you Witch For by Dawn Eastman, The Ghost and Mrs Mewer by Krista Davis, 15 minutes of Flame by Christin Brecher, Legacy Witches by Cass Kay, The House Where Death Lives by Alex Brown, The House by the Cemetery by Lisa Childs, morbidly Yours by ivy fairbanks, witches get stuff done by Molly Harper, The Spellshop, curse the day by Annabelle Chase, What’s a Ghoul to do by Victoria Laurie
Love your list. If your looking for a cozy mystery with paranormal vibes Homicide at the Haunted House is good. Almost all the characters are paranormal in one way or another.
Ahhhh!! Everand has the audio. The summary sounds super cute. Aliens?! 😍😍 and the cover is my vibe. Thank you so much for the rec. I didn’t even know this existed but it sounds like a total monster mash!!
I have not ventured into autumnal cozy mystery books but they look and sound so cute! If you find any faves I will definitely have to get some recs from you! Hope you have an awesome spooky season!! 🎃👻🍂
Fangs and Frenemies was such a great cozy supernatural mystery series but it’s very much disliked by people so idk what’s going on with me and my tastes 😂
Wonderful selection of books Lauren! I will be reading Clown in a Cornfield for Halloween. Have you ever read Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury? My favorite Fall read. I watch Amy's channel so am interested to hear your thoughts on her book. 👻
I didn't really find Pumpkin Spice Cafe super spicy. I think like, 2 scenes at most? And as my first cozy mystery book, it was kind of meh for me. But hopefully, you enjoy!

Queen of the seasonal tbrs!! 🎃🍂 I’m excited to read Lucy Undying and So Thirsty, I love that there’s all these vampire releases coming out this fall!
Fall is all about the vampire vibes! Who am I kidding.. it’s ALWAYS the perfect time to read a vampire book. I know you get me on this 😂
I am SOOO excited for So Thirsty lol. Definitely adding some of these to my TBR!
I love the whispering dead and the books in the gravekeeper series. 🎃🍁

I'm so excited for the spooky season!! 👻🧡 I just read It Watches in the Dark and it was so cute! Ahh!! So excited for Church of Friendo!!🤡🎃
I have got very expectations for your stuff during Halloween.🎃
I have a good handful of the books from your first half of the TBR on my fall TBR too!!

Always looking for fall and spooky season book recs so this is perfect! Rachel Harrison is my favorite horror author, so I am so looking forward to her new book.
Rachel Harison is truly such a gem of a horror writer. Her voice and perspective are sorely needed within the genre’s male-dominated landscape!!
I loved Greetings from Moon Hill!!! I hope you love it too! And Autumncrow is amazing!
Yay!!! It’s always great when people hype up a book 👻 It gets me all the more excited!

Your shirt and ghost earrings are so cute! Oooh a Carmilla graphic novel!? I'm in. Also for Lucy Undying!
I think it would totally be up your alley! I liked the first one more than the second, sadly
Incidents around the room is on my TBR after hearing it would be in the perspective of the little girl. That's what really sold it to me.
The audiobook is really great. The little girls voice is both adorable and creepy 😂
I just love your explanation of "That house under that lake" for Josh Mallerman hahaha.
All of these look so enjoyable and fun!
