      @@gowda015 Sorry. Only just seen this. Had pancreatitis for a bit, very thin for a bit then it settled down. Pancreas, unbelievably, still producing insulin in 2021. You have to take pancreatin with every meal (if there’s fat). Otherwise, still playing Div 1 cricket in Wiltshire, five a side football and skiing at 50 👌🏻

    Hello Dr Lee , I had Begar procedure 7 years ago and it’s left me unable to eat without severe pain and bathroom dashes : My surgeon has put me on T.P.N now so I no longer need to eat . Yet even drinks cause horrible pain , I was honestly better before when I was having very occasional pancreatitis . But now I’ve lost the ability to eat my family sit down to enjoy their food whilst I sit and sip a glass of warm water . Just unloading my life here : Regards from UK

    Would they still do a whipple if the tumour is on the other side of the pancreas?

    • @jeffersonwinfrey2219
      @jeffersonwinfrey2219 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe, the tail of the pancreas does most of the work so without the tail it would pretty much be equal to not having a pancreas at all. Which is survivable.

    • @rebeccathien4674
      @rebeccathien4674 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, if the tumor is in the tail they do a distal pancreatectomy which comes with spleen.

    • @sarahlouisestafford2448
      @sarahlouisestafford2448 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeffersonwinfrey2219 the tail of the pancreas, that's what makes most of a person insulin, with out that, a person has too check their blood glucose level every day for the rest of their life and will need insulin, that's what I was told by a diabetic nurse.
      As I had to go through the Whipple surgery last July, no cancer, after the surgery I had a few setbacks, plus 11hrs 30 mins in theatre. Doing fairly good now, when I was in hospital I had 4 blood clots. Which the surgeon removed the bile duct as well. It's the 4th surgery to do with my colon and small bowl this last 25 year's. I have a few other health issues as well. I hope this finds you doing well.

    I am sorry everyone, but I have to tell you this. Whipple surgery maybe the reason behind saving some ppl’s lives. But plz plz think twice before taking the risk. Ask multiple doctors make sure if there are any alternatives. I got to tell you this: My lovely father was completely healthy before this evil procedure. everything was normal until one day he had jaundice due to pancreatic cancer. Dr told us he had to undergo this procedure because it’s the only chance for survival. He underwent this procedure before 42 days. none a single day was fine !! since day 6 post operation he started to have deadly hemorrhage episodes and he was shockingly vomiting BLOOD !! he went for 2 other laparoscopy operations after that to fix the complications the dr had to remove the whole pancreas and spleen too in the second procedure !! !! not to mention the infection, peritonitis, frequent hiccups, lung infection, huge amounts of pus and fluids coming out from drains. the inability to eat anything , the leakage from abdomen as the anastomosis between stomach & intestine never healed , and finally after 42 days post damn whipple procedure my father is in COMA he doesn’t respond to us anymore !! I lost my precious father because of that hell evil procedure . I swear it was designed to make ppl suffer to death !!

    • @sarahlouisestafford2448
      @sarahlouisestafford2448 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry for the loss of your father, but this procedure is not evil. Yes, there Can be complications that can result in a person losing their life. I had too go through a Whipple surgery last July, but a Dr told me last march, that their was a very big chance that I would die on the operating table. I don't know, where I sat or know what to say as 10 minutes before it, he told me that the tumors that were in my duodenum where 4cm and 5cm in diameter, but not cancerous at that minute, but he told me that in 5 years time they would be cancerous, so that surgery, as far as I'm concerned saved my life. But I still have a chance of getting that awful disease as it runs in my family, I'm on a few different tablets and they have side effects which are stomach pains and cramps, hair loss and my the big one is 12% chance of getting stomach cancer, but if that happens, I'll deal with it, oh I'm borderline diabetic as well. I'm only 53 years old as and this is my 4th surgery this last 25 year's, (1997) I have a ileostomy on me, over 25 year's

      Sorry for your loss 😔it’s huge surgery I had it myself and I spent 21 months in hospital and my life has never been the same since! I very rarely can get up out of bed due to oil leakages from the bowel I was 35 when I had the surgery and am wearing nappies it’s mortifying and the pain every day is debilitating and some days it’s just so extreme I black out and my children call for help ambulance to which I get treated so poorly due to the high dosage off opioids they have me on just so I can open my eyes as I can’t do much else I can’t shower myself I’m a mother of three with no help so my poor kids cook clean clean me as I often can’t keep food down or in most days i find it hard to keep weight on so doctors say I’m anorexic if they only knew how much I eat just keeping it down is the problem! I have lost four years off my life and my kids life it’s had me on my deaths bed many many times due to not absorbing vitamins so I’m forever in hospital I have seizures as I’m not type 1 diabetic and have Addisons from all the trauma on my stomach when the surgery was done so that is extremely painful in many ways so I often wish and my kids do too that I never had the surgery as they are watching me waste away and not socialising gay such young age and in bed 24/7 I’m not living I’m existing I wish the angels would give me a break from pain and suffering and the suffering my kids go thru watching it and take me to heaven where there’s no pain and suffering. God bless your family I’m sure your dad is watching over you 🙏

      Can I ask you, did you start getting seizures after the surgery or did you have them already?? Everything you mentioned my mom is similarly going through as well. It's really confusing... When we went to see a seizure specialist, The Dr. said she might've had a stroke on the operating table. I'm not sure how common people get seizures after a Whipple procedure but they put her on meds & they've seemed to go away (momentarily)😩
