I was lying in bed grooving to my favourite pianist playing I've Got the World on a String when the song was interrupted by an ad touting the Ridley Method for learning 1000 songs with just four chords. This is so bad it's almost funny....
I'd have to respect anyone that plays better than me , everybody , but I turned to Wilson after listening to Art Tatum . I will never play better than Wilson , but no player is better than Tatum ...
Teddy's playing was the best right around 1930 to 1950, afterwards his style got a bit too, I don't know how to put it, boring. He didn't do the really consistent stride left hand or as nice and elegant soloing.
I bet the amount of practice you need to do every day to maintain that super high level of virtuosity is a lot! And he might have wanted to take us easy after a while... I heard Teddy Wilson play live once in a club, in the 1970s, and he did have a mellower style. But it was a great experience seeing him anyway!
Very nice. I'll never forget the time I saw him pull up in a Rolls Royce and get out with two lovely ladies on both arms at Newport Jazz Fest in 1962.
So he had four ladies in total? 🤣
Hahah. Smarty.@@lesterwyoung

THANK YOU FOR THIS DOCUMENT
Teddy Wilson never had the fortune to have the internet like us to listen to Art Tatum . In that respect Wilson was excellent ...

@@davdpl1478 True, most pianists stop doing the crazy stuff after 20 years and then just get slow and mellow xD
Je n'aime pas trop Teddy Wilson je préfère largement Erroll Garner Red Garland et Vince Guaraldi 🙂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂Vince Guaraldi and Charlie Brown 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ta gueule Henri.
These are very beautiful; I know them from a bootleg lp, maybe on the Spook Jazz label. Do you know anything more about the source?
I think these solos were issued in a LP during the 70's, along with some tunes by Benny Goodman sextet. Never reissued since that.
