Miku (creator and founder of the band, rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist, lyricist and almost unfeasibly beautiful woman) always writes lyrics that can read like fine prose, even when creating them for an anime opening theme, as she did here. Her words usually contain references to her beliefs in reincarnation, Zen philosophy and experiencing as much of Life as possible. Even the band colour aesthetic of black and white with the occasional small splash of colour (as in Saiki and Miku's red and blue roses in their hair) is based around the Japanese ink art (Sumi-e) principles of only using black ink and carefully chosen white spaces. Not only THE best Rock band on Earth but deeper than many realise too! Great reaction as ever.
Wow that was a great way of saying the lyrics! Miku (red flower) really is a fantastic writer I think. Would you believe she writes it after the instruments? While some things can be "lost" in translation, I always feel positive about them.
This is one of my favorite Band Maid songs. An anime opening, it has meaning beyond the anime. Cycles of despair and rising again to face life. The anime is basically about that too. Trapped in a world where the rules are cruel but you have to deal with it anyway. Fall and stand up, over and over. Most of us have been there. The musical chaos fits the words perfectly.
They got me started on this journey back in Feb 2020 and there have been so many great groups I found , learning japanese and I have everything they have come out with including 4 or 5 live streams.
Good job!. This is the powerful opening of Log Horizon Session 3 so the lyrics are meaningful related. More Band Maid please!, best hard rock band out there.
Thank you for starting your reaction with Miku's poetry. Her lyrics are always very well crafted. As Wayne suggested in your comments, I also think you'll enjoy their song called Sense.
Have to give Saiki credit for even remembering the lyrics!..let alone sing them to the speed of this track!....then!..you think how fast BLACK HOLE is !....crazy
The lyrics written by Miku (red rose) is based on the story of anime Log Horizon. So you need to know the original story to understand this lyrics. Nonetheless, I loved your reading aloud of the lyrics. It was so good👍😍
What blows my mind is that Saiki & Kanami played an acoustic version of this song during their Christmas concert where the only instrument was Kanami’s acoustic guitar.
@@PandoraPlaysMusic yes it was. You started off confused (what the heck song is this?), to shocked that Kanami would dare writing an acoustic arrangement for this song to amazement that it worked so well. The Christmas concert was all acoustic and one track (“Catharsis”) is still up on the band’s YT page.
Band Maid just don't do bad songs. As usual they leave you with a smile and sometimes leaking eyes with some of the lyrics. But put them altogether and you have the complete package.
Very nice reaction and your reading of the lyrics captures the essence of the song, struggle and defeat, getting back up and keep going (the anime has similar theme) . A lot of Miku's lyrics (red rose, rhythm guitar) are about overcoming adversity and the will to keep pushing forward. Band-Maid, a once in a generation musical powerhouse that pushes against the odds and never says enough.
Introduction of Log Horizon from Japan Log Horizon is a Japanese public broadcaster animation that has been produced until the third season and is not complete. The story is about hundreds of thousands of people around the world being trapped in online games and trying to build peace in that world. There are magic, monsters, different countries and people in the game, and gamers fight together in it. Gamers can be revived when they die, but seem to lose some of his memory. The story is still in the fight. The Different lyrics are inspired by the story.
Thanks Pandora. Intense yet after a few listens their "chaotic" songs slow down and become as good as the classics. Another reason BAND-MAID is Awesome. Peace.
Band-Maid's music is like eating a funky bowl of grungy punk rock and metal cereal with a splash of progy whisky milk and sprinkled jazz blues sugar that goes snap, crackle and POP! 💥 And the lyrics...? With English translation...? Indescribable! But heavy and fun at the same time. ;-) Thx, Pandora!
This song was commissioned for the anime "Log Horizon" season 2 and now three. The lyrics reflect the theme of the anime story, and were written by Miku Kobato(Red Rose) from show notes. Controlled chaos with a purpose! "Let's go, it's Showtime!" Another anime opening song from these amazing ladies is "Sense", the opening theme to "Platinum End". It's even better, imho!

Great reaction, loved the lyrics section. Sometimes I forget how much care Miku puts into the lyrics.
Band Maid, always more than meets the eyes (and ears), deeper levels musically and lyrically. Great music!
