    I use a simple inline 22mm filter on the return side of the boiler, saw these in Europe so decided to do the same. Works perfectly and collects the debris in the wire gauze.

    Here is my prediction
    Me: I’ve tested your system water Mrs Miggins in accordance with the new regs and it recommends a system clean.
    Mrs Miggins : Bye. See you next year.
    People in offices can make up all the stuff they like. In the real world unless there’s a problem that’s actually causing them an issue right now. Most customers won’t take a blind bit of notice especially if it’s gonna cost them money. The regs might as well recommend a diamond encrusted unicorn for the amount of notice most landlords will take. Just more bollox like Boiler Plus that everyone ignores.

    You have to ask why are internal pipe surfaces and the interior of radiators not coated with some metal rust inhiubitor. Cars metal bodies have had these coatings to avoid rust for years.

    How do you square the use of inhibitors as opposed to Viessman instructions to clean the system to VDI standards and use demineralised water?

    • @tomkatgastraining
      @tomkatgastraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      VDI standards are not standards in the U.K. our standards say use inhibitors and most tap water in the U.K. is good enough to use in heating systems so no need to. That’s until the standards change of course

      I'd ask the shower installer or shower maker to advise based on having a hard water supply. Limescale is hard to remove if it has hardened. A Power flush is more useful for radiators and pipes than the shower. An email or call to the shower maker or shower distribtutor should offer some good advice.

    Hi, may I ask what I thought was a simple queston that even boiler manufacturers dont reply to, can you shed any light. Heat only, 'new' system condencing boiler running only hot water, summer operation. Hot water storage tank selected temperature 60 degrees, what is the most economical temperature to set the boiler temperature to, 60, or leave it in winter heating selected 70 degrees.
    Kind regards Dave Porter, london

    • @tomkatgastraining
      @tomkatgastraining  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The lower you set your flow temperature the more economical your system. Problem with your question is how many litres is the cylinder what size kw is the boiler because it’s all about recovery time. Hot water should be sorted over 50oc because of legionella and obviously if you set your flow temperature to 70 and require 60 it should heat up quicker than if you set it to 60.

    My daughter just got the keys to a new build yesterday 05/08/2022 in Leeds.with an ideal logic c35 Combi boiler. (No filter installed) really don’t see why I should now have to travel 100 miles there and start to cut in to pipe work to install one.
    If B.S. 7593 2019 is only best practice and advised not compulsory. But now since June 2022 it comes under building regulation part L can she demand to have a filter fitted. Or is she just wasting her breath even asking the developers. ?????????

      Just an update as I’m getting more confused by the regulations. I phoned ideal technical department and they told me it’s only best practice to install a dirt filter. No mention of a dirt filter on there benchmark. he knew nothing of any changes to the building regs from the 15th of June . The bench mark was completed on the ideal logic esp1 Combi boiler.but no weather or load compensation. Water meter installed and no shock absorber.it does have two zones thankfully but these are wired to the 240 link so as far as I’m aware that isn’t modulating the boiler just on and off switch. The plans for the new build were probably submitted months or years ago so I guess there complying. It’s just annoying that they don’t even bother in a quarter of a million pound house.

    i have a strange problem with a heating system nobody was able to answer me , the combi boiler works good all 9 radiators are perfectly working BUT 1 is not working temperature on it it`s like 1/3 of the others it`s on the second floor of the house , where i have another 2 radiators both work good around 60-65 celsius on them but this one does not max 25 , i tried all the methods to purge the air even called different installer we used a pump with cleaning agend and cleand 2 times the installation problem still not solved , my question is if the water pump could lose it`s power as it ages ? and if so did anybody else experienced this kind of problem ? also it seems to have a higher temperature in the night like 30 C compared to 20-25 in day time , could it be that in the middle of the night the AC line voltage be a bit higher and the 8 year old pump work better ? it`s a standard pump grundfos with running capacitor to emulate a second phase ....... this problem is breaking my mind

    • @tomkatgastraining
      @tomkatgastraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The first thing I would do is turn all the radiators off except the one not working to see if it gets hot. If it doesn’t get hot then I would be looking to see if there is a blockage in the radiator or pipe work. If it gets red hot then the system will need balancing.
