Rich and beautiful words on a book or play and the fabulous writer Mr August Wilson is it makes it so phenomenal to see his works come to life on screen on in the play. It’s just so wonderful and I hope to see many many many more, but I am too.
Unfortunately, Mr. Wilson had only 9/10 plays and was working on one about his dad when he passed. Mr. Washington has carte blanche of Wilson's plays for X amt. of yrs to put to film, and they 've done I think 3 so far with "Ma Rainey's, Fences, and Piano Lesson." Hope the movie does well financially at box office and high ratings on Netflix.
I remember a TV movie about it but never a movie at the theatre. It was with Alfre Woodard and Charles Dutton via Hallmark Channel mid '90's. I was shocked to see Hallmark do a TV adaptation of Mr. Wilson's play but ever so glad to see it.
@ that’s the same one, TV networks made great movies back then. Especially Hallmark and HBO and few others. They would adapt black literature and plays into movies all the time. The Tuskegee Airman one that HBO did is one of my favorites
@@JayBelafonte So true of good programming back in the day. I think it was HBO that did 1 of my all time favs "Ms. Evart's Boys" with Alfre Wodard and Larry now Lawrence Fishburne about the syphillis experiment and lack of treatment.
@ that was a good one too! They did Laurel Avenue which was good, Josephine Baker, Dorthy Dandrige a lot more. We really should be giving HBO a little more love for holding it down for the culture.
@@JayBelafonte HBO hasn't held it down so much presently as they have in the past. I have HBO and barely watch it now. Paid annually, but when it expire's am letting it go.
He has the exact same voice of his dad! Wow!
And mom's face
Yeah that's exactly what I said.
2:11 I love how professional Malcom was in addressing his brother as if he was working with another great actor who wasn't related to him.
