Yes guys, this is one of the most beautiful Madonna's videos- In fact, it won best Art direction and best Cinematography at the MTV video music awards...also #70 in the 100 greatest videos of All the time. Love this song👏👏👏
I loved this song since it was released. So much that it was frustrating for me that it only made #14 in the Top 40. One of Madonna's greatest in my opinion. Anyway I have like 75 favorite Madonna songs ha! Her catalogue is amazing!
Gorgeous song from Erotica. And another very stylish video...from the 90s minimalist Japanese fashion to the iconic Mark Newsom aluminum "Lockheed" chaise lounge. The live Girlie Show version is amazing.
Some people interpret the "rain" metaphor in a dirty way because it was on her Erotica album, but I don't see/hear that in the song or video. It's just a love song. Water is a symbol of purification and she uses it a lot in her music (especially the Ray of Light album). Also, she has said she was thinking about the novel Wuthering Heights and the symbolism of the storm in the book when she wrote the lyrics. I highly recommend you do SECRET next or soon!
Madonna is the queen of multiple messages in her song. On one level, it’s about a woman being sad her lover is gone and waiting for his return… her rain is tears and when he returns the sun comes out. Another level is that her rain that she feels on her fingertips is her masturbating while she is alone waiting for him… And his love coming down like rain is his ejaculation. Here comes the sun… or is it a ‘son’ in other words, has he impregnated her? There are many ways you could interpret this song, and any one of them is valid, even if it’s not exactly what M originally intended. I think, considering this was on the Erotica album, we can infer that on some level at least, it’s partly about making love, not just romantically but physically. The album’s underlying theme is sex, but how sex is linked to not only to pleasure, but to life, death, pain, love, jealousy, etc.
This was on her Erotica album so the "sex" controversy overshadowed how great this song and video was then, I became a crazy fan of hers from the beginning, 1983, and could hear her voice becoming what it is today, she is the Queen of all, and I'm there for her unconditional no matter what, her music had an impact on my life in such a way, its really unexplainable, there are so many times I hear you both talking and I want to jump in and guide you in the right direction, I love that you both are getting what she is all about, just sometimes you take the long way to get to where you need to be, you should Google the song before you watch so you're aware of the interpretations of it all.. I ❤ @MADONNA !!!
This was the first Madonna song I remember loving when it was released. The video and song are stunning. It was a top 5 hit in Australia and the video used to get played all the time. I’ve loved her ever since
Her most misunderstood work. This album paved the way for any current pop star that sings about sex. Simple minded people missed the undercurrent of darkness and loneliness and loss on that album as they usually do. Also that album was very innovative.
the first thing that you should know, when the music start, it's each beat sound like a rain drops and came the storm and suddenly the sun appear. The one that you didn't not clear about what she whisper, LEFT and RIGHT side are different word. what you hear both word has been mix up
Madonna always brings new sounds and music; voice, style... The Girlie Show ( concert from the Erotica album ), was inspired by girlie magazines and musicals from the 40' and 50', bringing back the 70' and much more influences from music and cinema.
This was on every mall store’s playlist for a long time back in the day. It was usually sandwiched between George Michael’s “Father Figure” and Debbi Gibson’s “Shake Your Love.”
YES, your channel will be a very successful reaction channel for sure. The chemistry is nice, you both are young and beautiful, Tyler is very charismatic and Marissa is so beautiful. I guess this new place is right for the longer video reactions in the future. Please keep reacting..much love.
For me is the most beautiful video I've ever seen. Fortunatelly I was lucky to enjoy it in 1993 and then I saw the Girlie Show Live...! Rain is a masterpiece, music and video...! Greetings from Buenos Aires....!
I was 12/13 when she came out with this and remember thinking this video is so ahead of it's time. It looked so much more polished and the production value was so much better than what most other bands/pop acts were producing at the time. Same as with the her live shows. Her world tours always broke attendance records even well into the 2000's. She never performs a song the same way in any tour, always completely reimagined. Madonna, Janet, Michael Jackson were for a good while the artists that just continually raised the bar and expectations from pop acts. Today there are celebrities but really no icons that were as big as them at the height of their success.
Yes. And since 2008, when the most famous Madonna wannabe arrived into the Pop scene, bringing with her a complot from the media against Madonna, the said Pop scene has became sooooo effing boring!
A very good reaction from you two, I particularly love the acknowledgement of her gorgeous low notes. And the sun thing, THAT'S AWESOME AS WELL!! The construction of the song has many surprising elements and your reaction reflects that fact. Thank you so much. Next, please do "Don't Tell Me", "Open Your Heart", "Ray of Light" 💥
You guys are rocking it with the queen and only queen MADONNA! She is amazing!! Her music is untouchable!! ❤️ She is art!! Keep on surprising me with more Madonna music videos! Enjoy the ride, oh what a fantastic and inspirational ride it is!!! 💕
Yes, I prefer Bad Girl and The Power of Goodbye to this song but Rain is a masterpiece too. Can't wait to see your reactions to "Take a Bow" and its sequel video "You'll See"
Love, love love this song, its video and its use of metaphor. It is a double entendre.. Both about love, and the spiritual purification of it using Rain as a cleansing revitalising, release of tension and expression but it also directly alluding that to sex and specifically the physical release and expression of that. It is a very clever song.. It is incredible live. I was in the crowd when it started and the feeling was palpable.. The build up and then the break. With the three part harmony.. You could feel a charge light up the entire stadium. Wait to you see her live work.. Creative and musical genius.. And her lyricism is often overlooked. Beautiful visuals here too. This is one of my favourite songs ever.. I love all its allusions, poetry and the spoken word part in headphones is incredible... React to the live performance or maybe later in the journey see the entire show.. There's always a story and themes, Acts if you like.. Love this journey..
Your reaction is priceless. Especially when you both just watch with your mouth slightly open and just quietly. Appreciating Madonna. I'm going through all your Madonna reactions. You guys are great 👍
Love your reaction! This was music video master Mark Romanek’s first out of two videos he did for Madonna. If you have time, you should check out his videography as he has some one of the best music videos ever. Most Gen Zers probably saw his work with Taylor Swift (“Shake it Off”). The second video he did for Madonna was for 1994’s “Bedtime Story”, which, with Nine Inch Nail’s “Closer” (which Romanek also directed), is on display at the Museum of Modern Art. Madonna originally intended to have a more period Wuthering Heights theme to the video but Romanek thought that was too on the nose and instead convinced her to do a video contrasting the song which brings up images of nature and rain with technology. He emphasized a washed out effect and brought out the colors from it here which makes this video look quite modern even though it was filmed in 1992. He also wanted to contrast Madonna in a “foreign” setting but placing her in Japan. The Japanese “actor” who plays the director is famed musical composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. His track “Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence” is probablu his most known to Americans.
30 years later (2023) this video still stands on its own... I just realized that the japanese man that is supposed to be the director's video inside the narrative is actually Ryuichi Sakamoto, a master musician that we lost this year. Absolutely fantastic!
Madonna and director Mark Romanek created a beautiful, elegant, ethereal masterpiece of a music video here. Near the end of this 1993 mv, Madonna in a white gown appeared to float against a darkening sky with flashes of lightning evoking a surrealistic imagery. Two years later in 1995, they would collaborate again to produce the mv for Bedtime Story-an artistic exploration of the subconscious mind with surrealistic, dream-like imagery that would end up in permanent display at the Met Museum in NYC. Madonna by this time is acclaimed to have elevated the music video into a cinematic art form, and she has become a master of the craft. Just amazing!
When you interpret the song as one from the Erotica album, it's quite obvious when she says "your loves coming down like rain" interpret that as you will. But the song is so lovely, I especially love the violin at the chorus.
Another amazing ballad. Madonna always set the bar high. Most of todays artists can do what they do because Madonna paved the way. She’s legendary 👏🏻👏🏻
What’s need to impress you guys is her evolution and her ability to look and sound different in every song/clip She was and still is so original and unique.
Her release after this was I'll Remember which was little piece of synth heaven. Nice change of location than the car, Added to Marissa's little coy glances to the camera when Tyler is chatting away. You are a good partnership on camera.
Madonna was kissing on girls and had gay representation in her video's way before Little NasX. I don't get why a lot of people fall all over themselves about the stuff he does or the stuff Cardi and Megan does. I look at their stuff and roll my eyes and think to myself how boring. It's already been done and I've seen it a hundred times from Madonna. And, yes, it was shocking back then because it was a dif time and had never been done before. She had more class though. Have you guys watched the Justify My Love video? That came out before this video
This song was actually my first introduction to madonna as a kid. I remember I was watching TV and this video was on, And I instantly thought WOWW who is that?? And been a Huuuge fan ever since. It is unfortunate that her "persona" puts the music in the back seat 😕 But still, bloody love her ❤️
It’s also based on Wuthering Heights, the lyrics are excellent against the novel. She’s playing Catherine Earnshaw, expressing her love for Heathcliff.
Loving your Madonna reactions. You have to listen to her song Rescue Me. It has no official video that I'm aware of but I'm really keen to see your take on it.
She was still suffering the Erotica backlash. I think if this was the first single and the book was not there, it would be a #1 smash. Still it went top 15 in the US and to #7 in the UK, not too bad for a fourth single released almost a year after the album was out already.
In the context of the 'Erotica' album, rain as also another, more sexual connotation. 'Your love is coming down like rain, I feel it on my fingertips'... (Pun intended) With headphones on, the spoken part is amazingly beautiful, going from left to right and you hear what she says.
But will there actually be an after show this time?! It's fun to see Tyler so happy though. 😉 If you want to see another new side of hers check out the video to "Don't Cry For Me Argentina". It's Madonna as Evita (from the movie of the same name, which btw won her a best actress Golden Globe).
Madonna voice is incredible and she change very easily. This song is from EROTICA, with titles like WHY ITS SO HARD 😁 So, RAIN... although feels like a love song and can be one of the interpretations...some may say its about sex 😎 (you know..."watersports" 💦💦💦💦) Madonna is genius 😘
Lol. Not water sports… well, maybe, but more likely both female and male ejaculation. She feels it on her fingertips… so she ejaculates after digital masturbation… and ‘your love’s coming down like rain’ as in a man ejaculating on or inside her. But hey, M’s a freak, so maybe water sports is another meaning… lol…
The live version from The Girlie Show tour is a must. I’ve seen it a thousand times, and it never gets old. It’s just splendid!
They should in fact watch the girlie show in whole. It'd make more sense as a whole piece of musical conceptual framework
A must 💯💯
YES!!
The best version ever!!
The vocals and harmonies are so perfect.
I love your enthusiastic Madonna critiques. Please do more and you need to watch her live performances and concerts too. Thank you.
At first I thought the guy was really enjoying Madonna but after seeing other artists reactions I see he reacts the same way to everything lol.
Rain represents love and how it washes away pain. It was written by Madonna and Shep
Yes guys, this is one of the most beautiful Madonna's videos- In fact, it won best Art direction and best Cinematography at the MTV video music awards...also #70 in the 100 greatest videos of All the time. Love this song👏👏👏

Love this song, especially live with her two background singers(kind of spiritual)
Thank you for this reaction!! One of my all time favorite Madonna songs. And the video is absolutely beautiful. She is absolutely beautiful!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Gorgeous song from Erotica. And another very stylish video...from the 90s minimalist Japanese fashion to the iconic Mark Newsom aluminum "Lockheed" chaise lounge.
The live Girlie Show version is amazing.
Love the serene and calm reactions of Marissa, her smile and eyes say so much of what she could think about the song
Some people interpret the "rain" metaphor in a dirty way because it was on her Erotica album, but I don't see/hear that in the song or video. It's just a love song. Love your reactions and I decided to follow you. Well, welcome to Madonna's world. A world of full of professionalism, love and art.
Can we just appreciate the absolutely stunning visuals, not only for story telling but her look is just gorgeous.
Very much a love song, she said in an interview at the time that it was inspired by Wuthering Heights and the love story between Cathy & Heathcliff
Love that

I love your Madonna reactions ! If you like tell stories songs, you need to check Madonna Take a Bow and then the sequel video You’ll See ! ❤️❤️❤️
Madonna always brings new sounds and music; voice, style... The Girlie Show ( concert from the Erotica album ), was inspired by girlie magazines and musicals from the 40' and 50', bringing back the 70' and much more influences from music and cinema.

“Erotica” is one of my favorite albums & extremely underrated, hope you guys react to the album 💿

Yes, I prefer Bad Girl and The Power of Goodbye to this song but Rain is a masterpiece too. Can't wait to see your reactions to "Take a Bow" and its sequel video "You'll See"
Fantastic video and song! I highly recommend the live performace of this song in the Girly Show; it takes this song to the next level.
You guys should definitely react to 1"I'll remember" and 2" Take a bow" and 3 "You'll see" cause they are a 2 parters 😍😍
You two are adorable. I love watching your reactions to Madonna’s music. This song is beautiful. It still gives me goosebumps.
G'day it's Steven from Down Under again
All hail the Queen of Pop!
This video was shot in black and white then painted to give it the vibrant colors you see. PLEASE PLEASE do Betime Story! You will not regret it.
She's a master of disguise

This song really makes me feel like floating

Rain is one of my faves of Madonna's ballads. U should react to Madonna's "Take A Bow"

Not hard to figure out this song is about love, and how rain washes away sorrow.
Video is visually stunning.
I mean, that’s one meaning… there are others…
@@graphiquejack People have their own interpretation. As they deal with everything.
I feel you men!!! Love this song and LOVE the transition!!!

Thank you for all these Madonna reactions and PLEASE keep them coming.
The video was actually shot in black and white and then painted frame by frame to highlight the colors.
Did you know that the video was actually filmed in black and white then digitally coloured in? Not bad for 1993
Madonna and director Mark Romanek created a beautiful, elegant, ethereal masterpiece of a music video here. I always see I’ll Remember as a sequel to this song. I love that song and her look in the video.

Madonna - Take a bow
Is a must for you to see
I’ve always loved the double spoken poetry ❤️
It is a beautiful song and music video. It won for Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography at the 1993 MTV Video Music Awards.
Love ur Madonna reactions and u guys
.
A can say that this blue eyes already melted may soul
Tyler your excitment reaction to Rain gave me thrills
Such a great song and video
PLEASE take a bow, ill remember, crazy for you , live to tell, secret, 4 minutes, living for love, crave.
This song was actually my first introduction to madonna as a kid. I remember I was watching TV and this video was on, And I instantly thought WOWW who is that?? And been a Huuuge fan ever since. It is unfortunate that her "persona" puts the music in the back seat 😕 But still, bloody love her ❤️
I love her persona. She's funny, iconic, brave and knows her worth. I don't see anything wrong with her persona, and in fact she makes me laugh
It’s also based on Wuthering Heights, the lyrics are excellent against the novel. She’s playing Catherine Earnshaw, expressing her love for Heathcliff.
I think you must see Madonna live to see why she is the Queen of Pop
Love love love this song
I LOVED this reaction! I loved and agreed with Tyler in a huge wayyy 👍💙😄😄😄
Love u guys
Aftershow!!!!!!
👍👍💙💙😘😘zane
Of course it's a love song! Love like rain.
Thank you for another Madonna reaction, did you get the secret message of this song 😉 💗 💫
Someone may have mentioned this but she is a huge fan of ABBA. this is my favorite song by Madonna.
One of my favorite videos ever!
I always like to give a shout-out to the MV director, Romanek, who has an incredible eye. I'm curious what you'll say when visiting "Bedtime Story".
Love watching your reactions, especially to Madonna. Would love to see you react to Lana Del Rey. Summertime sadness
I can clearly see you are having an eargazm! I had it too when I bought EROTICA back in 1992 (the album this song is from)
Thanks, Marissa! Thanks, Tyer! 🌧 #TylerCreatesContent #Rain #Madonna
Loving your Madonna reactions. You have to listen to her song Rescue Me. It has no official video that I'm aware of but I'm really keen to see your take on it.
You missed the end of this music video, the last photo of her is a piece of art...
I luv this video! 👑👑👑
I love it when I can tell Marisa didnt hate it but didnt love it. Marisa is my goddess. I love her sooooo much
This video and song was released in August 1993. When it came out it really wasn't too popular. Sort of swallowed up by grunge.
Everyone is inspired by Madonna ❤️
I wish that would be so amazing
I never comment but u r the cutest thing
Amazing! 😍
The video is nice, but I wish you’ve reacted to the full album version, it builds and builds at the end. Better than this edited version.
The song Rain was a tribute to Karen Carpenter. This is one of Madonna's best.
Awesome song and reaction, ‘Secret’ next.
PLEASE watch the Rain live performance from The Girlie Show. Its really amazing!
This song is dedicated to her mother
The girlie show - fever & Everybody
Did you finish watching the music video. The music may have stopped, but there was still visuals that you may have missed.
Madonna voice is incredible and she change very easily.
This song is from EROTICA, with titles like WHY ITS SO HARD 😁
So, RAIN... although feels like a love song and can be one of the interpretations...some may say its about sex 😎 (you know..."watersports" 💦💦💦💦)
Madonna is genius 😘
Do Espress yourself and Keep it together from Blonde Ambition tour
Great song. You need to react to her live
I wonder if you guys are taking a bit of a rest since there was no abba show yesterday
apologies, its out now!
this video was hand painted frame by frame
*you basically got it... it's a love song. and one of her best ballads! the LIVE version from The Girlie Show will **_BLOW. YOUR. MIND._*
