So good to have you both back, and thanks to all those behind the scenes making this happen, NOW the NH season really starts!!!
best NH preview/review show going - by far.
it's nice to see our chats back. Would be nice to see some more background footage of some of the horses every now and again paddock etc
And we go from City of Troy to The lion in Winter in a seamless manner for l say again one more that we here in lreland ,the Emerald Isle , have the best horses in the world ❤
We will now leave the dirt and return to our beloved turf , where a horse can run on a beautiful surface and not have to run through a phucken ploughed field ❤
Great to see the show back with you both
The Question I have is when trainers, and I’m just using Gordon Elliott as an example does he race Gerri Colombe on right hand tracks when clearly he needs to go left handed,
he prefers a left hand track it doesn't mean he can't win on the right he has won on the right. it can be many reasons normally with big stables like gordon and willie and they are big they have 100s of horses at any given time so navagating all these horses to a perfect race is harder than you think. Sometimes its the distance, the fences, the ground. You kind of take what's available for a horse at start of season sometimes. Plus horses like gerri big chasers need a good blow to dust himself off and if this race was best suited other than the right hand. It's not like he can't win on a right then you ask why would anybody do that? but its not the case he wins right, prefers left.
The one rule what should be brough in is declarations for one race 2 weeks before start of the meeting. ??? At Cheltenham
Welcome back 👍👏
Jeriko Du Reponet will be back over hurdles before you know it
Here We Go!! On The Road To Cheltenham!! Can Be Very Profitable To Some Bettors!!
With the gold cup being a stretch for L’homme presse would he be better suited to a Ryanair? Front running ride and a left handed track both in his favour, currently 20/1.
My question is. Why aren’t the English & Irish Hcp marks integrated
Congratulations on being the first show hyping up Cheltenham 😂
The name of the show is Road to Cheltenham of course they are going to hype it up 😂😂😂
It's called the road to Cheltenham
It's all Cheltenham nowadays, hype hype , hype. 4 days pure money grab for racecourse, hotels and the town itself.
I have never seen Altior make a jump like that
Firefox for me, Arkle hopefully.
Yes the changes were all made for the BOOKIES with more 20 plus runner handicaps, suggest punters let there feelings known from there pockets as i wont be staking a bean on the new handicaps. The BOOKIES had been getting stung the last few years with lots of single figure priced winners and it wasnt fair on them, even though they make most there profits these days on casino and slot machines in betting shops or online fleecing anyone daft enough to play them,so remind me why we are feeling sorry for the bookies again?Meanwhile punters now have more 20 plus runner handicaps at Cheltenham where we wont find out whats running in another 3 races now until weeks before the festival we will have horses like Langer Dan with form figures 6th,Pu,9th,14th, turning up and cruising home on the bridle because thats what punters want to see?The National Hunt game is bent we have too much racing so none of the superstars meet anymore apsrt from the odd time each year while punters seem to get less and less out the game other than affordability checks.
But very few people would back in a 7 horse race with a 2 to 5 favourite. ???
@@alankeane5595 No brains Alan have you, some of us for 40 plus years have been backing antepost at Cheltenham i was o Fact Or File at 14/1 in the 6 runner Brown Advisary Chase this year just gone why the fuck did i care if it went off 4/6 and there was only 6 runners kidda?
Gives a chance to back a horse not trained by Mullins...
@@russellstanton7583 Who the fuck gives a toss who the horse is trained by if its making you money, talking shite Russell.
@@alankeane5595last leg of everyone’s acca the last few years was the national hunt chase on day 1, made a nice bit myself last few years on it have had the winner the last 4 years, same with the turners very punter friendly race where the bookies had nowhere to hide with winners easy to find in the betting and accas rolling over onto the next day
Is there any Race IQ data on jockeys ? To me it’s vital though pundits hardly ever say I can’t back him because of the jockey ate they scared of upsetting them ? . To my eye I think over fences at 3m the difference between a jockey that can see a stride better is about 10l at least .
Thank god the jumps are back, im off to cheltenham sat & sun, least we know nearly every horse is trying in every race not like them on the flat, by the way im on the left on my profile pic 😂😂
could do with a beermat under that table leg.
jeriko du rep could do with a shadow roll or cheek peices over fences. Looks spooked by a fence probably never schooled him properly, he came from over hurdles first time fences and he spooked over them, defo needed head gear and a good run into the fences first time out they let him slow down before the fences spooked by the size and probably colour of them too those yellow ryanair signs are bright.
I agree with ruby the novice month does me nut in haha. Novice should be determined by runs really, if you run you learn, then your not a learner ( novice) after so many runs regardless of wins. 5 runs as a novice or 1 season from nov - oct or a maximum 5 novice runs once you have 5 runs as a novice or & 3 wins you can then go open company in that same season. What bothers me is sometimes a novice is better than the open company horses but cannot qualify for those big races.
The start of the betting industry’s promotional campaign with their paid lackeys for the circus aka as the Cheltenham Festival. I think selling this year’s circus is going to be difficult, we could be looking at a Gold Cup with no British trained horses in it, if Constitution Hill doesn’t make it for the Champion Hurdle they might as well pitch up the tent in Galway or Tramore. Awe I remember the good old days when we’d 6 months of competitive enjoyable National Hunt racing and now it’s 4 days designed for brainwashed fools who lose a fortune while bullshiting about how much they won. Pure Comedy Gold.
Great to have the show back.two im looking forward to seeing first time are thasdwayyiurtinkin for gavin cromwell and barry connells each to there own.
@ each to their own which is why I preferred the good old days when we were hanging from the rafters at Fairyhouse watching one of the greatest horse’s ever Dessert Orchid winning a 3m6f handicap chase. Nowadays there wouldn’t be a snowballs hope in hell of that happening but enjoy your 4 day circus 🎪 anyway.
@@johndonnelly3135 racing on nearly everyday in ireland good racing, maidens, novices, handicaps, grade 1s even P2Ps and p2p maidens. if your only focused on chelt sure its not the same but chelt is just a festival there's many festivals all year. Great one at xmas in leopardstown, Fairyhouse winter festival punchestown in may. navan festival coming up lots of great racing outside of cheltenham. I mean you said there's no british trained horses in the gold cup but last time a brit won the gold cup was 2018 we rule chasing in ireland anyway so the brits like and focus on hurdles more they don't do chasing like we do so although its poor they don't have an entry it will make no difference we'll just stack it with our good chaser stock and take the bread.
@ given I go racing in Ireland most weeks I don’t need an education on Irish racing from you. Perhaps my comment went above you head, I’ll try simplify it for you, when is the last time you saw a gold cup winning legend like Dessert Orchid run in a handicap chase? As for Irish dominance of racing I’m following racing long enough to remember Fissure Seal making the headlines on RTE’s 6o’clock news for winning a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham. If you believe National Hunt Racing is better today than it was when races like the Hennessy Gold cup were unmissable ( nowadays a mediocre handicap) that’s your choice. As for Leopardstown I was thumbing from Wexford to Leopardstown on the 28th of December in the mid 70’s and missed very few until the covid bullshite so again I don’t need an education on Leopardstown from you either.
@@johndonnelly3135 oh shut up crying ya woman just watch the horses race or don't everything in the world has changed. Back then orchid and the champions raced in those races because they where the premier big money the big money and the way things where done back then not to mention a lot less races for them to compete in compared to today with big purses. We have group 1s nearly every week racing is way better now back then you remember a handful of great races like orchid in the handicap hurdle wow big whoop you remember a half full of races really and less than 510horses from back then there's group 1s horses everywhere now every week racing against each other back then a handful of champs and they would never meet rarely... I am Maximus won the grand national as a group 1 horse tigeroll won it 2 times and won the cross country?.. dessert orchid was.... alright. won a few good races lost lots too well beaten on many many occasions Arkle was better than him so was flying bolt and lots of horses Arkle did it all too. that was the lay of the land back then now its about racing the best against the best.. most handicaps these days and back then poor quality horses filled the fields and thats why you remember these horses win those races because compitition was poorer any ole horse could get into them so your orchid shined. if he was racing against some of todays horses he'd be just another.
