Love the idea of giving kids a budget and letting them plan/shop for their own supplies.
We let our kiddos pick some school supplies as well each year typically. This year I did it and gave them a basket on first day of our school year. We didn’t need a ton of stuff so I tried to make it more fun this year. Annie picks things just like my daughter. Those ballet slipper scissors were adorable. I need to see if I can find them for my 6 year old.
We would love to try heritage letter again. We did a 3 month a few years back but it was a gift, it’s just not something in our budget right now.
I feel like buying school supplies for my first is healing my inner child that couldn’t afford the cool stuff. 🥹 I love seeing these videos everything else I keep seeing for these type of school hauls are very muted colors.

This is so cute. We homeschool too and my kids LOVE “back to school” supply shopping. We do it year round but once a year we refresh all our supplies. It was my favorite thing as a kid so I want them to still experience it even tho they’re homeschooled. ❤

So fun! I always loved back to school shopping as a kid so I take my kids and let them pick out a few fun new things. My daughter has the same scissors that Annie picked and I never caught on to the fact that the design was ballet slippers. 😅🙈 Jesse is too funny! Loved seeing bits of their personalities come out through this.

My 4 year old, just picked out the watermellon pouch yesterday with me. She was nervouse about kindergarten this coming fall, loving her preschool so much. So her new shiny folder and pencil case got her more excited for this upcoming year. So sweet!

I love how you talked about how one of your children just wasn’t “in” to it this year. I was just having a conversation with a mom considering homeschooling this year and she said her child is never “excited” about learning or school things and she thought all homeschoolers were!

Our Walmart usually has clean out sales in March to make room for summer toys where I can find school supplies for a better price than in August. Perks of living in a small town with a smaller Walmart I guess.

Mechanical pencil 0.7 or 0.9 is best and try not to press hard the graphite does break and you can get refills of graphite aka lead so you dont have to keep re buying pencils 2 to 3 pieces max for refill.
That was really fun for the kids! We’ll you have lots of erasers now! I picked up a bunch of mechanical pencils years ago when office max had the super good deals on them and guess what my daughter doesn’t like them! I’m holding on to them I case she changes her mind and likes them in high school!

I think it was letters from afar I did for my sister's kids and I got them a flexible binder with page protectors to keep them together and not take up space. :)

The Wal-Marts here in Maine don't have as much selection/variety as yours! That's a super fun idea letting your kids pick out school supplies. I've done most of our shopping for this year but I'll keep it in mind for next year.
