I work in a job that requires multiple videos to be made quickly, and we use AVID Editing Software; what would you say is better between Edius and Avid?
It comes to a personal preference. Avid is standard in US, but it is made for movies which may not be preferable for TV for instance. I hate Adobe Premiere for instance, while it is most popular video editing software in the world.
I haven't used Avid since my $100,000 system crashed and died. This was back in 2001. When I found that I was able to replace it with a comparable system for 7K I felt so ripped off by AVID that I left them and never looked back. I am sure that it has developed into a very good system. I have always liked Edius for it's simplicity. It is easy to learn and fast to use. I can cut programs very fast with Edius. Unfortunately the industry is now moving toward the MAC M1 chip architecture for it's ability to play the new video CODECS in real time. It is yet to be seen if Edius will rewrite their code to work on the new Macs. It doesn't look like they are. I have started to make the transition and am learning Davinci Resolve. It can be set up to emulate Edius or Avid by changing up some keyboard shortcuts. As a bonus it has some very professional CC and audio tools as well as a good compositor. I no longer need to go out to After Effects. Worth checking out. There is a free version to get started with. Best, FS
Ironically, Edius is not Cheap! But you are right. DR and PP have a lot more features. Edius is used primarily in Broadcast studios, where the edits are quick, down and dirty. DR and PP are much better suited for docs and films. The strong point of Edius for many years was it's ability to keep up with all of the new CODECS so that they would play in Real Time while you were editing. It one day reached a point where that was no longer the case, and I made the move to Macs and DR. I have PP, but prefer DR.
Where is the link you mentioned for shortcuts? Thx
When I put video in timeline or in prw. window. it shows black screen with timecode counting on both. The sound is there, but no video. Using mp4.

When working with Chromakey, how can I create an invisible mask on the top line in order to erase footage imperfections and see the background below?

I have nothing agains the Tutorial, but software mus be for people who can't afford like Premier or davinci, it seems very very low end.
