While the series was mainly about the kids, some of the parents that appeared in Codename: Kids Next Door were hilarious counterparts of their children. Whether it be Numbuh 1’s fun-loving dad or Numbuh 3’s super serious parents, they always seemed to clash with their child’s personality. That said, there was one parent who wasn’t present at all throughout the show. In fact, he only ever officially appeared in a Kid’s Next Door comic book, which has begged the question, what happened to Numbuh 2’s dad, and why wasn’t he in the show?

In operation caked four father mocks numbuh 2 father right in front of him and tells him that he was a loser. Father wouldn’t do that if he worked for him.
And farther is respectful to his employees? He ridiculed , mocked and insulted them all the time. I mean if he WORKED for farther it doesn’t mean farther would respect him, he just saw him as another employee.

Warburton mentioned in a Q&A interview that Hoagie's father went away on a business trip, along with their dog, who is also brought up in Operation TRICYCLE
I suspect the mess he caused from Operation: T.R.I.C.Y.C.L.E. (and T.R.I.K.E.) caused Hoagie's dad to be sent off. Brilliant, but unstable. Hoagie is terrified of dogs too.

I actually think I know what really happened to Numbuh 2's dad. He was a KND agent and later a TND agent. I would also have no doubt the real reason his Father left was because he is also a member of the GKND.

Why can't it be both? I mean like who can say his dad did die and use to make devices for the evil adults, I mean the grandmother is evil. Maybe when number 2s parents got together it's what made him good/ retire to start a family
If we ever see GKND, I hope we get Numbuh 2's dad, and I hope he's as baller as he sounds.

If I remember correctly, when you became a teenager you had your memories wiped of ever being in the KND.
Usually, but there are some exceptions. Some teens and even adults keep their memories of the KND, acting as special agents infiltrating various adult organizations.

This dude was one of my first animated crushes when I was 8 or 9 and I NEVER even thought about his dad... but that explains his clear daddy issues...he lowkey beat himself up sometimes
It’s been years since I’ve seen this show, but a less ‘in show’ reason he wasn’t shown could be because the creators didn’t know what he should look like.
In lore, he could just be doing his inventing in the basement of the house or at work etc.

This last theory REALLY makes sense. And is a good twist. Like a more tragic version of Mr. Boss and Numbuh 86.
Edit: While making another comment, I realize, this puts the pseudo rivalry between Tommy and Father in a whole new light if the last theory is true. And makes it a bit Harry vs Snape esque. Tommy having a huge beef with a guy his dad once both opposed and worked with. While he figures out his own path.
He could be on year long business trip. I mean, I don’t think any of the main five kids aged, so it would make sense. Especially if he works for a company that has him as chief inventor where he takes business meetings to show off what he made for the company’s future.

I would like to think he made an invention that teleported him and I think the trike has AI and he couldn't predict the reaction that the AI had when feeling rejected it was self learning to better respond to its owner. And the father's connection could be that they were friends after all father was a kid too...... I would love to see that story and make it a mystery plot line and make the title something like? #2 a message from beyond? Or #2's Daaaaaaaad!? I don't know I'm not good at making titles 😔😔😔
