I wonder how many of our grandfathers or fathers received this award. When I served I got the Marksmen pin. Which meant I was at least able to hit the target somewhere. I became a cook...
Wow Gang, what a great episode! You all scored big time out there in that field. Doug, congrats on the sterling badge. What a cool looking piece. Jason, Beautiful old cufflink. 👍 Lynn, High-5 on your first two coins. You don’t mess around! Jess, Way to go on that 300 year old real. Holy smokes! You all had a fantastic day. Thanks for that tidbit of info on the “sterling” marking vs. “.925”.
Great video and location as always! As a former scoutmaster the simple answer to the rock stacking question is "leave no trace". There are other reasons too, but I don't want to post an encyclopedia of hiking etiquette, lol...
Some great finds this week..congratulations Lynn on your first coins, and Jessica on the gorgeous old half reale! Awesome hunt, see you on the next one!
Jason you ask the ? Why hikers don’t like people stacking rocks on trail. Because it could lead hikers off course. Stacked rocks call Cairns are used as trail markers and is Blazes which is paint used to mark trees so as to stay on course during your hike.
Epic finds everyone, what a site! I think I saw a date of 1890 on Lynne's Indian, so the first 2 coins of her career were in that field and both in the 1800's- insane! Your silver button/cuff link was incredible as well! Congrats all!
Lynn really is getting some great finds---she has watched so much not so good stuff being found she has just purposed not to dig anything that isnt awesome lol......how is it that you guys never worked this farm while it was still in Charley's family, I would have been all over it long ago if it had been in my family :)
I kind of have a crush on Lynn. Her smile is beautiful. I am single 67, and to poor to attract even stray cats, but Lynn is cute. Jessica is cute as well, but I can't say that because I am to old. Damn it.
Two things, Jason: First, thanks for clearing up the relationship between Rich and Lynn. I'm so embarrassed. Second, cairns are piles of rock that are carefully and deliberately placed to mark a trail or a boundary. Arbitrarily placing piles of rocks confuses that and can get people lost in places that don't have enough vegetation to show the trail. Third, Hi Rich's mom! And lastly, I love it when Jessica is on!
That first coin could be a KG2. Saw the line, and a cruddy bust looking to the left on the other side. Jessica Impressica did good! Lynndiana Jones getting an IHC... Happy days! 😃Coppers for Charlie, and Jess raising the stakes with a half reale!!! Doug seeing her with that AWESOME silver pin. Copper for Rich VanWinkle... Jason, you need to get everyone a GoPro so you can dig more holes! (nice cuff-link though)
The guy that designed the badge lived in my area had many other items that he sculpted. info can be found here www.u-46.org/cms/lib/IL01804616/Centricity/Domain/3280/Trygve%20A.%20Rovelstad%20A.%20Bio%201922.pdf

Combat Infantry Badge.
Exactly right. I earned mine in Iraq.
The Purple Heart would hang right below the wreath. Or Jump Wings.
When did the makers start stamping the word “Sterling” on their pieces?
Introduced in 1943, CIB
@@ChrisDohogne Mine is from WWII, stamped Sterling.

Doug found a CIB, Combat Infantry Badge, 1st award, no Stars, for additional awards

I have WWII Army badges marked Sterling. They switch to a bronze type sometime around the 1950's to early 60's
Rock stacks or “cairns” are significant to hikers. I learned about them years ago. They denote directions or information specific to the trail.
Well done. Great hunt
I knew that was an U. S. Army CIB, how cool is that.. WW1 maybe?
Go Lynn!
Great hunt! Congrats Lynn! Saw one on facebook. Im Trying to think of a good name for Jessica! 😊
Hi guys,❤
A mistake giving Jones her own detector. She will have her own channel soon finding all that!!
As quick as Jessica is at finding things, Jessica Rabbit is only fitting!
